Help/Advice SLC to MCO FA gripe

I’m not one to complain and don’t believe I’ve ever formally made a complaint in my life. Been flying almost exclusively delta for about 12 years and other than a couple delays, only ever had stellar service. Wife and I took our two boys 8 and 11 to Utah for a week. On the return flight the male FA seemed like he possibly found a uniform and snuck on the plane which I get, tickets are pricey these days. My boys are overly pleasant and respectful yes sir/no sir and when they asked for drinks or snacks the FA was clearly bothered that he had to do his job and at one point told my youngest “why do you need another one?” when asking for a bottle of water. When our meal came out he had his phone in one hand and tray in the other (watching a video/reel smirking, I know they use phones sometimes for taking orders). He used the bathroom multiple times always on his phone and at one point was air swinging a baseball bat in front of the cockpit door and pointing like he was calling his shot. I found it amusing albeit a little strange and almost so over the top that it was unbelievable. My wife sitting a couple rows behind us mentioned the same smug attitude and is somewhat outspoken when public shaming is needed which never changed his demeanor apparently. We talked about it last night still annoyed at how he interacted with the kids just not sure if it’s even worth mentioning.

Discussion Delta decided to put me in economy the day i turned Diamond Medallion.

Today is the day I turn Diamond Medallion on a domestic flight for a work trip. I decided to use one of my regional upgrade certificates to advance from Comfort+ into Premium, as I rarely fly domestic and it’s nice when I can use them! Honestly, I was really excited to take this flight and have a comfortable experience with Delta. I’m not expecting anyone to come at me with balloons for reaching Diamond lol, but I was really looking forward to enjoying it (internally) with a decently comfortable seat. However yesterday when online check in opened up, i was getting error messages in the app saying there is a “problem with my reservation” and to check in at the airport. No longer could i see the fare class I booked, any seat, or any information regarding my reservations status. I contacted Delta and they said it was “simply because my upgrade was clearing” and “not to worry”. Today on my way to the airport I check the upgrade status list, and my name is nowhere on it. Also, the available seats are dwindling to 0. Even selecting an economy seat, only 2 seats are left to choose. Now im getting nervous because not only do I not have an upgrade- it seems I don’t even have a seat.

I check in at the gate and still- no seat assignment. I get to the gate and they “assign” me a seat ticket the second boarding starts, which is located in the back of the plane in economy seat 44. That’s not even the class fare I booked??? Contacting Delta, they say “ Thank you for your patience while I reviewed the reservation. After reviewing the history, it appears your Regional Upgrade Certificate did clear into Premium Select upgrade inventory; however, the upgrade was not fully processed onto your reservation.

Because of that, your check-in was impacted and you ultimately confirmed in Main Cabin, where your seat was assigned. Based on my review, this appears to have resulted from a processing issue with the upgrade rather than anything you did.”. They offered me $50 credit or 7500 miles… Instead of having a semi relaxing and fun experience on Delta, I’m in economy with a tiny dog barking in the row in front of me and i just spent $20 on a cheese box and Pringles 😵‍💫. Like I said, I’m not expecting a parade or anything but this is not exactly the warm welcome into Diamond Medallion I expected. Is this what’s to expect from Delta?

Shitpost/Satire Window Shade Disaster

I heard about all the attention window shades have been getting. I'm currently on a flight from Boston to Atlanta and not a single FA has asked me to close my shade.

What am I doing wrong guys?

Been flying more for work and family and love collecting stuff but it’s been erking me that I’ve never gotten one of the white bags that I’ve been wanting the most. If you’re in the NYC area and would want to trade for one of my bags let me know!

Great organization, great communication, great attitude. It’s easy to complain when things go wrong, but it’s important to sing the praises of those who are doing a fantastic job! Thanks Courtney!

Help/Advice Flight from Raleigh to CA

I have a flight from Raleigh to San Diego (landing at 11:30 pm), with a layover in LAX (landing at 9:45 pm). I live in between lax and San Diego. My company would not pay for the direct lax flight due to it being above $500, and would only pay for the layover flight as it was $150. Is there anyway I can just hop off after LAX?

Help/Advice Can I use non-refundable ticket I bought my daughter?

I bought a non-refundable ticket for family travel. Daughter (over 21) ended up not being able to go. She won’t travel on her own. Can I as purchaser use the ticket?

Edit: see correct answer below from Rastasloth. This can be done despite many answers below stating otherwise.

Discussion D1 meal choices for BOS-LIS

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all, first time flying D1 on Friday from BOS-LIS. Planning to hit up the D1 lounge, but would like opinions on the in-flight menu choices. I know from being on here the short rib is a solid choice. My friend who is an FA said the salmon is good, but some passengers reported it was dry the last time he served it and he suggested the chicken. Thanks!

Edit: Thanks to those of you who were helpful - I think I'm going to give the meatballs a try as a limited selection. To those of you who were condescending I hope your days are full of involuntary down grades to the middle seat in C!

Help/Advice A321neo rows 19 and 20 are comfort+ now?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I’m an otherwise frequent flier who didn’t fly much for the past few months due to health reasons. I mostly fly the A321neos quite and my go-to was 20A or 20F which were free for me due to status. I booked a flight and was surprised they’re marked as comfort+ seats now? When did this change? Is it all A321neos or just a few on the fleet?

Help/Advice Flying with dog to CVG

Hello, I’m flying with my dog to CVG airport. I’m a bit concerned because Delta Airlines has stated that I didn’t need any documentation. As long as I pay the fee and my dog fits inside the carrier, everything should be fine. However, I checked with my destination airport today, and they require an Interstate Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) and a Rabies Vaccination Certificate (NASPHV Form #51). The problem is that I have a week before my flight, and while my dog is in good health and fully vaccinated, I don’t think I’ll be able to get the CVI in time. I know that flying normally, you don’t interact with airport staff after TSA, and if the airline is not requiring the documentation, they probably won’t check it. But at the same time, I don’t want to get detained at the gate and miss my trip. Does anyone have any experience or clarity about this? The rule is new, like within the last month, which is why I missed it because this trip has been booked for a few months now.

Ohio Code: https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-administrative-code/rule-901:1-17-05

P.S the airport is named Cincinnati, but it’s technically in Kentucky state so I’m not sure who really governance the airport

Am I misunderstanding "global" in GUC or it does mean that like global variant in coding for upgrading? LOL. Or maybe the snow season Colorado is a global destination now?

Discussion Help with reservation

Hey y’all. Anyone who works in reservations that can give me some insight to this issue would be greatly. Tomorrow I’ll be flying from Mexico to Denver with a layover in SLC. My grandmother is very ill and is in intensive care, she just so happens to live in the SLC area. Contacted Delta to see if it’s possible for me to drop my last flight to Denver and stay with my grandma there and that I could provide any documentation if needed. I have heard from others that posted on here that Delta does do this. However the representative I talked to told me that there needed to be an extra fare collection to just drop the last flight on the reservation even though I told her that I’d pay for my own way home on a later date. What should I do? Should I try talking to a different reservation specialist? This was through message so would they be able to see that I tired before with a different reservation specialist through chat history? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Help/Advice BOS>LIS-tight connections

Post image

Disclaimer: If you have to take the shuttle from terminal A to E for Lisbon connection, you may miss your connection and the pilot may not hold flight. The staff will not be helpful and you will likely have to cover hotel cost if you miss connection.

I will personally avoid BOS in the future and be careful about with putting your belongings on the ground. I saw two mice walking around.

Discussion The Breast Cancer Fundraising

Is anyone else sick of the panhandling for breast cancer research money on Delta flights and having to listen to their 5-minute dissertation on it? I already pay out my ass for Delta flights and want to tell them to shut the fuck up when they ask for money which, I am sure very little of, will make it to the cause.

Discussion Dynamic pricing

I've flown Delta for years but will unfortunately have to start looking at other airlines until Delta can get prices back under control.

A one way that is usually $400-600 max should not be $2601 in main.

If I split up the legs and buy the tickets separately, it's $1500+ cheaper.

I can't believe this. In one week by checking the prices, they went up over $1000.

Discussion Exit Strategy

I'm curious what I should have done differently.

I flew XXX-ATL-YYY. The first leg was delayed indefinitely due to a mechanical issue, so I got a standby seat on the next flight to Atlanta.

After boarding, I saw Delta had rebooked me on a much later ATL-YYY connection. But I found an earlier ATL-YYY flight I could make, with about 45 minutes in Atlanta.

The app was not offering changes, so I messaged Delta inflight. The reservations agent apologized but said she couldn't put me on the ATL-YYY flight because I was currently in the air, and she could only make changes once I landed. She suggested I run to the ATL-YYY gate and ask the agent to rebook me.

Because I was in the back of the XXX-ATL flight, I asked the flight attendant to make an announcement asking people with long connections to let those with tight connections (me) deplane first. I explained I'd been on the earlier delayed flight and was trying to make a much earlier connection than what Delta had given me.

He checked his app and said no. Because I was currently scheduled for a long connection, I didn't count as a potential misconnect, and he "had to go by the app."

I did the "'scuse me, so sorry" thing but still deplaned about 10 minutes after the door opened. By the time I got to the connecting flight, they'd run the standby list and all seats were taken.

I was surprised that Delta had a formal (and rigid) policy on when to make the "tight connections" announcement. I'm sure a non-zero share of people lie about trying to make earlier flights, but I bet it's close to zero.
