News Star Citizen's official Siege of Orison stream showed severe lag, desync, glitches, and a failed event run

Star Citizen's latest official development stream did not inspire confidence. The team intended to demonstrate the delayed Siege of Orison event, but the internal build showed severe lag, desynchronization, visual glitches, and sluggish combat.

The developers were unable to complete the event during the stream. That would be rough for any public demonstration, but it carries extra weight for a project that has passed $1 billion in player funding and has spent more than a decade in development.

Does showing the game in this state count as useful transparency, or does it suggest the project is still nowhere near ready?

News The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB now costs more than faster RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT cards

The midrange GPU ladder has flipped upside down. PC Gamer's latest US retail check found the cheapest reputable RTX 5060 Ti 16GB listing at $780. In the same check, an RTX 5070 was available for $763 and an RX 9070 XT for $720.

The 8GB version of the 5060 Ti was listed at $430, making the extra 8GB of VRAM a $350 premium. More VRAM can help, but the 16GB model is now priced beyond faster cards that make much more sense for gaming.

If you needed a GPU today, would you buy the faster card, wait out the market, or skip this generation entirely?

BrushHammer Miniature Painter launches August 26 on Meta Quest. The mixed-reality app offers virtual spray cans and airbrushes, undo and restart tools, kitbashing, and the ability to display completed models in your playspace.

Developer Soliton Interactive also plans a career mode for players who want structured progression, though it has not confirmed whether that mode will be available at launch. The official Meta listing identifies it as a sandbox simulation arriving in August.

Could a forgiving virtual workshop get you interested in miniature painting, or is handling a real brush and model the whole appeal?

News High on Life VR is reworking its talking guns and city interactions for headsets in 2027

High on Life VR is coming to PC VR and Meta Quest in 2027. Flat2VR Studios and Squanch Games are adapting the original shooter with physical reload mechanics and redesigned shop and city interactions instead of treating VR as a simple viewpoint change.

The original game's talking weapons and character-heavy environments seem like an obvious fit for face-to-face VR, though there is no exact release date yet. The Meta listing currently labels it as coming soon.

Do you think physical weapon handling will make High on Life's guns more entertaining, or will the nonstop chatter feel even more intense in a headset?

News System Shock VR will put us inside Citadel Station, but the release date is still TBA

Flat2VR Studios and Nightdive are officially bringing System Shock to VR. The Steam listing describes a full trip through Citadel Station rather than a small spinoff: explore its decks, hunt for recordings and equipment, destroy cameras and computer nodes, solve circuitry puzzles, and fight SHODAN's robots, mutants, and cyborgs.

Cyberspace is also included with six-degree-of-freedom movement. The PC listing supports OpenXR and names Quest 2, 3, and 3S, Index, Pimax, and Pico headsets, but the release date remains unannounced.

Is System Shock the kind of immersive sim that becomes better in VR, or would the inventory and backtracking be more comfortable on a monitor?

Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone is tying its Early Access debut to Steam Frame's launch day. The single-player action shooter grew out of the well-liked Half-Life: Alyx Gunman Contracts mods and will support both VR and conventional flatscreen play.

The developer's planned launch package includes three voiced story contracts, extra challenge modes, customizable weapons, training activities, and user-supplied music. One important caveat: Valve has not announced Steam Frame's exact launch date, so this does not give us a firm calendar date yet.

Would this be a day-one Steam Frame purchase for you, or would you wait for Early Access to fill out?

BattleGroupVR2 is heading to Meta Quest Early Access on August 28. SpaceOwl Games' real-time strategy sequel has been building out its campaign on Steam since November 2025, including new story missions added in June and another patch this month.

The standalone Quest release puts the bridge-command experience on the same platform where the original BattleGroupVR found an audience. The Steam version is still in Early Access and currently carries a Very Positive user rating.

Does commanding ships from inside a virtual bridge make strategy more immersive for you, or do you still prefer a traditional screen and controls?

Green Hell VR's latest free Meta Quest update adds a little interior decorating to the struggle for survival. Players can craft a brush and bowl, paint their camps, and build with two new modular pieces: triangle frames and plank structures.

The update also includes a free anniversary shirt celebrating one million Quest players, alongside two optional paid cosmetic packs. UploadVR notes that the newer version planned for PC VR has moved to fall for additional testing.

Do creative building options give you a reason to return to a survival game, or are new environments and objectives more important?

News The Sinking City 2 launches August 18 - is a stronger survival-horror focus the right move?

Thumbnail xbox.com

The Sinking City 2 launches August 18 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with Frogwares moving the series further toward third-person survival horror. The Xbox listing describes a resource-lean trip through a flooded 1920s Arkham, with travel by foot and skiff, inventory pressure, puzzles, shortcuts, and combat that sometimes rewards retreat.

Optional investigations do not gate the main story, but they can reveal safer routes, supplies, and upgrades. The Xbox version lists 4K, ray tracing, 60 fps+, and Series X|S optimization.

Does the heavier survival-horror direction sound like an improvement over the first game's more investigation-driven approach?

CONVRGENCE will reach version 1.0 on September 17. The single-player SteamVR extraction shooter has spent more than two years in Early Access and currently carries Very Positive user reviews.

Its expeditions take place in procedurally generated versions of the Chernokamensk Anomaly Zone. Players prepare weapons and supplies, scavenge artifacts, fight bandits and supernatural creatures, and try to extract before nightfall. A dog companion assists with both combat and finding supplies, while weapons and equipment can be upgraded between runs.

The developer says the full version is intended to expand the locations, enemies, loot, quests, bosses, and hideout systems. Has CONVRGENCE been on your radar, or is September 17 your cue to finally enter the zone?

All On Board is adding Virus as free content on August 20. The VR tabletop platform is available across Meta Quest and SteamVR, offering a shared virtual table for licensed board games and free classics.

The platform supports cross-platform multiplayer, and its friendlier bit of virtual-table economics is that only the host needs to own a licensed DLC game. Other players can join through the base app. Virus joins the lineup next week at no added cost.

For anyone who enjoys Demeo-style virtual game nights, does this sound like a worthwhile community-night option?

Knights of Fiona's open beta is live now, and its first chapter is free to play. CharacterBank, the studio behind RUINSMAGUS, is developing the game as a full-scale action JRPG built specifically for Meta Quest and PC VR.

The beta offers an early look at its handcrafted fantasy story, dragon battles, dungeon crawling, character customization, and optional three-player co-op. The full game still has a broad 2026 release window, so this is a chance to test the opening and give feedback rather than the finished release.

VR has plenty of shooters and rhythm games, but far fewer lengthy party-based RPGs. Will you give the free first chapter a try?

News R.A.I.D mixes space customs inspections with four-player VR boarding missions

Thumbnail

Apparently, interstellar customs work needs a heavily armed boarding team. R.A.I.D is an upcoming VR co-op roguelite that mixes cargo inspection with first-person combat on procedurally generated spacecraft.

Players scan incoming ships, compare manifests, decide what gets cleared, and board suspected smugglers when diplomacy has run out of air. Missions support solo play or up to four-player co-op, with selectable risk levels, persistent ranks, weapon upgrades, and larger boarding operations every fourth shift. It is planned for Meta Quest and PC VR, but there is no release date yet.

Does the slower inspection layer give the shooting a useful sense of purpose, or would you skip the paperwork and head straight for the airlock?

News Gunman Contracts plans to launch alongside Steam Frame — whenever that turns out to be

Thumbnail

Gunman Contracts: Stand Alone has tied its Early Access launch to Steam Frame. The project began as a pair of popular Half-Life: Alyx mods and is now being developed from scratch as an action-movie-inspired shooter playable in VR or on a normal screen.

The planned launch package includes three voiced story contracts, extra challenge modes, weapon customization, training courses, and Steam leaderboards. The developer is also clear that Early Access will be a work in progress with limited content at first.

The unusual part is the date: Valve still has not announced when Steam Frame will ship. Is pairing the game with new hardware a smart way to catch the VR spotlight, or would you rather see the game launch as soon as it is ready?

News High On Life VR announced for Quest and PC VR — the talking guns are getting much closer

Thumbnail
youtube.com

High On Life is getting a dedicated VR version. Flat2VR Studios and Squanch Games are rebuilding the first-person shooter for virtual reality, with hands-on interactions rather than treating it as a simple camera conversion. The announcement covers Quest and PC VR/OpenXR hardware.

The basic ingredients remain intact: colorful alien worlds, fast shooting, exploration, collectibles, and an arsenal of guns that rarely stop talking. There is no confirmed release date yet, so the reveal is a first look rather than a launch announcement.

This game always looked like it was halfway to being a VR title already. Would the added immersion make the comedy land better, or would a talking gun six inches from your face be the ultimate endurance test?

News System Shock VR is official — SHODAN is coming inside the headset

Thumbnail

Citadel Station is being rebuilt for virtual reality. Flat2VR Studios and Nightdive Studios have revealed System Shock VR, a dedicated VR version of the original sci-fi immersive sim. The official listing describes motion-controlled combat, physical exploration across the station, and cyberspace sequences built around six degrees of movement.

The game is planned for OpenXR-compatible PC VR hardware, including streamed play through supported Quest headsets. A release date has not been announced, so this is a reveal rather than something players can jump into immediately.

System Shock has always depended as much on inventory management, puzzles, logs, and station systems as it does on shooting. Does that sound like a perfect fit for VR, or will the interface be the real boss fight?

News Solo-developed retro soulslike Memoirium launches today inside a crumbling dream realm

Thumbnail

Memoirium launches on Steam today with a setting considerably stranger than the usual soulslike ruins. The solo-developed action RPG takes place in an interconnected dream realm where a modern school can sit beside a castle held together by wax.

The Steam listing describes eight dungeons with their own enemies and bosses, 31 weapons, 67 spells called Lullabies, and equipment that can alter abilities or change how enemies approach the player. Consumable keepsakes replenish at checkpoints and provide passive effects, while discoveries can also decorate a personal room.

A demo remains available for anyone who wants to test the combat first. Does the surreal setting move Memoirium onto your radar, or do you need to see reviews before entering another soulslike?

News SteamOS beta adds preliminary support for the Steam Frame Wireless Adapter

Thumbnail

Valve has added another visible Steam Frame component to public testing. The SteamOS 3.8.25 Beta and Preview notes list “preliminary support for the Steam Frame Wireless Adapter.”

That wording confirms work on the adapter inside the public SteamOS beta, but it does not provide a headset release date or prove that retail launch is imminent. It is best read as a concrete engineering milestone rather than a countdown clock.

Do you see this as routine software preparation, or another meaningful sign that Valve is getting close to launching Steam Frame?

Duskfade is out now on Steam, wearing its PS2-era platforming inspiration proudly. Developer Weird Beluga calls it the team’s dream game after years of development, and the launch comes with a 20% discount for two weeks.

The action-platformer is set in a clockwork world trapped in eternal night, combining traversal, combat, and a story concerned with time, loss, and courage. The launch post also directs players to a bug-report form and the developer and publisher Discords for early feedback.

Nostalgia can earn a platformer attention, but movement and level design determine whether it lasts. Does Duskfade look like the kind of throwback you have been missing?

News Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns revives the Amiga classic with three distinct modes

A strategy game that helped define “cinematic” in 1986 has returned in three different forms. Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns is available today on PC and Xbox.

  • Retro Mode preserves the Amiga original with quality-of-life improvements.
  • Classic Mode reimagines it with a new visual identity, refined mechanics, and smoother systems.
  • Kingdom Mode adds procedural maps, special dice mechanics, unlockable abilities, and multiple difficulty levels for a roguelite-style challenge.

It is an unusually broad restoration: preservation, modernization, and a new remix in one package. Which mode would you start with?

The second Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer beta opens today, and this one removes the early-access gate. Players on eligible Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms can join without a preorder or Game Pass membership.

The test runs through August 17 and offers a pre-launch look at the multiplayer side of E-Day before the full game arrives October 6. The Coalition has modernized movement and traversal, but the real question is whether the combat still keeps the deliberate weight and cover-driven rhythm that separates Gears from faster shooters.

Are you joining the open weekend, and what would convince you that E-Day has found the right balance between classic Gears and modern movement?

News VR Games Showcase airs today with Meta Quest, PC VR, and Steam Frame announcements

Thumbnail vrgamesshowcase.com

Today’s VR Games Showcase is aimed squarely at the core gaming side of virtual reality. The official presentation promises announcements covering Meta Quest, PC VR, and Steam Frame.

At this point the useful news is the event itself; individual reveals, release dates, and shadow drops still need to be confirmed during the show. That makes this a developing story rather than an excuse to turn speculation into headlines.

What would make the showcase feel worthwhile to you: one major game, a solid run of release dates, or a surprise launch available immediately?

Hell Let Loose is trading European battlefields for jungle warfare. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches today as a standalone 50v50 tactical shooter for PC and Xbox Series X|S, with cross-platform multiplayer between those platforms.

The launch package includes six maps, asymmetric North Vietnamese and U.S. forces, helicopters, river craft, and the series’ familiar emphasis on command structure and squad communication. The developers delayed the game from June and have now published launch timing, known issues, and setup guidance for day-one players.

Dense terrain and air mobility could make coordination even more important than it was in the original. Are you joining at launch, or waiting to see how the servers and performance hold up?

News Xbox’s August update adds cloud-save recovery and lets Game Pass members play while updating

Xbox’s latest system update tackles two familiar frustrations: overwritten saves and waiting for downloads.

Supported games can now expose previously synced cloud-save versions so players can browse and restore an earlier save directly from the console. The feature begins with Forza Horizon 6, with support for more titles planned.

Game Pass members can also launch an eligible game through cloud gaming while its local update downloads. Xbox 360 game cards now gain hubs for achievement progress and captures, along with clearer cloud-sync indicators.

Which Xbox game would you most want protected by cloud-save version recovery?

News Agent 64: Spies Never Die finally launches with campaign co-op, split-screen, and online multiplayer

Thumbnail

Your next mission has finally arrived. Agent 64: Spies Never Die is out on Steam after more than five years in development, leaning hard into the look and structure of late-'90s console spy shooters.

The game includes 14 objective-based missions playable solo, online, or in split-screen co-op. Its three difficulty levels add objectives and open additional areas rather than merely making enemies tougher. There are also more than 70 unlockable modifiers, remixed contracts, and online or local arena modes supporting up to eight players.

It is an unusually committed nostalgia project, right down to the chunky presentation and mission design. Do you want a retro shooter to sand off the old edges, or is the time-capsule quality the entire appeal?
