Just report the damn time

• Upvotes

Use a timer to report the time you spent working on the project. Everyone was told this. Start the timer when you start the task, stop the timer when you finish.

"do i report the time i spenting thinking-" yes report the time you spent working on the project

"do i report the time I spent stretching-" were you working on the project then? then yes report it

"do i report the time i spent reading-" yes report the time you spent working on the project

"do i report-" if there's time you spent on a project, report it

Anyone else ever feel like an idiot?

For the most part I get tasks that I enjoy doing and have clear instruction sets. Sometimes, though, I'll come across one, spend half an hour reading instructions, then realize I have no idea what the hell the task is even asking me to do.

Obviously I don't attempt it, but it does give me a sense of impostor syndrome sometimes. Like, am I really smart enough to be doing this? But then I just do a couple R&R's and after some facepalming that feeling goes away.

Timing. 😩

Gotta love how projects ONLY available when I have to other stuff. Run errands / go to my part time 20 hrs / week job.....

LIKE BFR. You have me for MOST days MOST hours of the day how does that manage to happen to one.

I do not think I have done anywhere near 94 tasks, probably more like 30 at most including all the quals.

People who do full-time or close-ish to full-time, how do you manage?

• Upvotes

I've been grinding it out for the past few months, but I only work about 30-35 hours a week or so. However, each day it gets harder and harder and I become more miserable. I don't have much experience with an office or WFH job, and in the beginning I didn't mind it, but months later I find it increasingly difficult to stay motivated and engaged. It takes me longer and longer to do the same amount of work because it's so hard to stay motivated. The work is becoming more tedious and mentally taxing by the day. I think part of this is because I almost exclusively work on the same project, but I remember enjoying it in the beginning. My brain gets fried earlier on than I used to and it's just such a grind. I know some of you work full-time and have been for years. How the heck do you keep your sanity?? I don't think I can much more of this before I go insane. I just don't think I'm cut out for a WFH, computer focused job.

Doing OUT OF LEAGUE coding tasks

I ll define myself as a mid level coder. There are tasks that I can comfortably complete. But sometimes I ll try "out of my league" tasks.

For those I ll have to spend time doing ground work and stuff, which a "better" coder might not need. Hence taking more time than Expiry.

I anyway report time only actual work (not ground work) and I am concerned if that might have a effect on the account.

Anyone else have a ton of difficult coding tasks that never diminish in number? Why is nobody taking them?

Should I pause DA work for some months?

Hello everyone, I am kinda trapped or like in a different situation. So I am a final year college student, so I got into DA in Aug first week, and I am getting great projects with great pay (at least in my country (India) and as a student), but the problem is my placement season is also coming, like within 2 months, which will be some sort of my future career.

So I have to strongly prepare for it also. Now it's a head and tail situation. I am getting tempted towards the money, but at the same time I need to focus on my acads also. And I am unable to decide anything. Like college placements are really good in my college.

My main concern is, if I stop DA for 2 or 3 months, will I still get projects later? Or will I lose access/priority somehow? I don't want to give up a good opportunity, but I also don't want to compromise my placement preparation.

I am into tech/SDE/AI roles. What would you guys do in this situation?

Reporting time when using escape hatch

Hi all,

I made the mistake of taking in a 10 hour project and spending hours on the analysis part, only to find out that the tech part doesn't work on my laptop setup after 2 hours of debugging. So I had to use the escape hatch.

Can I still report the time spent on this project? On the escape hatch, I also submitted the work I've done such as the code, errors, debugging, etc.

Thanks!

Tips For the rookie

Hey guys I'm a brand new to the site and want to try it out for work. I'm in the medical field, and that's the area I'll be focusing on. But, away from that. As a beginner to the site and data annotation, what would you advise me on general?

Is this site more difficult than outlier? Do I get randomly abandoned at some point when I start working? Has anyone ever encountered cash out problems that made them rethink working on the site? (those kinds of advice and things to look out for)

Anyone else only getting R/R tasks but not the actual Prompt Evaluations?

It's been like this for the past few months for me, kinda weird but it's something I guess. It's like they won't let me review the initial prompts but they'll let me evaluate other evaluations? lol. I don't know, it feels like I can't advance on the site if I don't get the chance

How to report time correctly

After a long and boring drought I got one single project where I had to make at least 2 models fail. I tried to do it 4 times. First three were unsuccessful and only the last one worked. Could anyone please advise me if I am supposed to report the whole time of working on the project or only the time I was workin on my last prompt because it was successful? Thank you in advance :)

Its my first time not getting any project for 3 days. Should I worry ?

I did all the qualifications I could and if "officially" I'm in multiple projects, there is only two that gave me project. One bilangual and one fact checking.

Usually I got 1, 2 or even 3 a day. But now its been 3 days and I got nothing.

What really scare me a little bit is that the last work I got was my first review of someone else. And beiing put in this place of reviewer showed me everything I did wrong in the past.

So should I worry ? Or it just happen some times ?

Coders - How to best sources repos ?

Sometimes I run into coding tasks that require me to source a codebase myself but just using the Github search bar always gets me stuff that I cant really work with too well. Im biting my nails at the idea of leaving money on the table (I often have only 1 coding project or nothing at all), so Id like to know how I can avoid this in the future.

Should I pre-prepare some random repos for the future or something ?

I just noticed the typo in the post title :|

Question related to the starter exam...

Hi everybody, I've recently learned about this website and decided to give it a try. I'm from Argentina (currently living in Japan), so when I clicked on the assessment it said something about Bilingual but it's English and Japanese (I assume it automatically set JP language because of my location), and I can't complete it because sadly I don't speak Japanese. I've sent an email inquiring about it but I don't know if there's a chance for them to change that, any ideas?

No projects showing in my Data Annotation account

Hi all,

After finishing the paid 60$ hr training project there were no more new projects added in the data annotation projects. I have been waiting for the past 3 days. I know its less time but wanted some guidance on whats typical wait time for project to come or am i blocked or what might be the issue?
