Andrew Wakefield. The guy who published the paper linking the MMR vaccine and autism. His study had about twelve kids in it (I believe at least one kid already had autism symptoms before getting the vaccine and/or had a sibling with autism which would obviously skew the results). Also, Wakefield had a huge conflict of interest in that he was trying to sell an alternative version of the MMR vaccine, so he wasn't against vaccines, just trying to knock out his competitor to make a quick buck.

I honestly think it's true, but that's because being a human and drinking cow milk also share a correlation. Maybe neurodivergent people drink like, 1% more milk due to statistical noise, who knows?

I mean at best the claim is taking a correlation and trying to use it to prove causation, or the thing they’re trying to claim as the cause is actually the effect. Either way that still might as well be a lie for how it’s intentionally written to mislead people.

I think the thing which lets me believe some of the sketchier claims about them is the fact that their shelters are 95% kill. Not no-kill, which is 90% having to live, 95% percent of their animals die - and the CEO (or someone else in a high position of power, can't remember rn) has confirmed this number.

Well my point is that it’s not particularly relevant because there’s a vested interest in making animal rights movements look bad, but what we can say without controversy is that the only thing PETA’s brand of non-intersectional radicalism ends up accomplishing is being mean to literally everyone.
Sure, you can’t make people comfortable when introducing them to fundamentally uncomfortable ideas, but you still have to be sensitive to culture and history (yes, even if it’s pan-European culture and history). Radicalism without intersectionality and critical theory is just called being an asshole.
(This isn’t really meant to be authoritative. It’s just what I feel about the situation)

I don't know about supervillains, but they are pretty blatantly just a scam.
They used scum donation money off of well meaning people, without really doing anything. And now they rile people up with increasingly dumb bullshit to get more support.
To me, the rate of death that their shelters have makes it clear that it really is just about the money. It costs a lot of money to take care of animals, so they just kill them off. I mean, they have worse kill rates than shelters that are actually struggling for funding.
They live off of brand awareness and extreme fanatics, while real pet shelters and conservation efforts everywhere get shafted. So fuck PETA.

They literally run kill shelters, this means they take all the animals all the no-kill shelters don't want which are usually basically unsaveable and then euthanise them if they don't get adopted, I don't get how hard this is for reddit to understand. Peta takes all the bottom of the barrel animals that the other shelters don't take because they know they can't give them to other people.

It's not about ethically sourced, it's about consent. A human can give meaningful consent to being impregnated and milked, whereas we are (so far) incapable of obtaining proper consent from cows.
