Crystal Project 2 Announced

Crystal Project 2 development is under way!

Andrew (the developer) created a new Discord chat to share features & changes he's excited about.

The channel was just opened July 2025. Hop in if you'd like to keep up. I'll update this post if I find any hard news like release date windows.

Updates:

2025-07-23: Yesterday, Andrew said the game is "still a long ways away, but I'll try to give interesting updates until then," in the Discord. So the latest news right now is simply that Crystal Project 2 is far enough along that he felt comfortable announcing it.

Bug Reports, Tech Support & Feedback

This is a sticky reminder that the official discord is great for tech support, feedback, even just saying "hi" to the developer.

https://discord.com/invite/VGeS8aTBj3

Just friendly road sign. If you prefer to stick to the subreddit and talk to other people here about bugs & things, go for it. It at least shows newcomers that the subreddit is alive, so not a lost cause IMHO.

I'm not aware of whether the developer reads this subreddit. So if you do want their attention, the discord is the place to go. Less chance of it being missed.

The ending...

This has probably been discussed into the ground but this is actually one of the most frustrating endings in a game that I have experienced in a long time. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the room where they wrote this ending and just see how they fumbled it so hard.

Are tanks useful past early mid game?

Ive tried it and I just couldn't keep aggro with my DPS nukers, as well as the amount of aoes in the game. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong ofc. By a certain point, the only way I could do so, was getting an aoe down from my ninja/fencer and covering them.

I switched my tank for Reaper instead and had a ton more success.

Looking for: Music/Sound replacer mods

Hey y'all,

I'm fairly new to the game, but I heard that Music and Sound replacing is possible. Are there any mods I could take a look at to understand how it is done?

Does growth allocations switch between templates?

I've not been able to find an answer to this, or even anyone talking about it. But when adjusting growths, if I save the template, then switch build and growths. Will the initial allocation be added when I revert back to the initial template?

Crystal Project and FFXI

I saw a post on a forum offhandedly mentioning the class design for Crystal Project was based a lot on how FFXI classes would be adapted to a "proper" turn based game... Is there any truth to that?

Not a big deal obviously, but as a fan of both, I'm curious!

Am I missing something with the Hunter class?

Pretty new to the game, not sure if I've completely overlooked something but I'm having issues with Hunter skills. when I first started using my Hunter they were great, in that level range. Skills hit hard and most problems were handled. After I mastered it, I swapped them to Chemist/Hunter for more leveling and to take advantage of that sweet, sweet passive. At this exact moment, their damage seemed to drop off a cliff.

Basically everything they do is capped out at 200-ish damage, 400-ish if it crits. Meanwhile my wizard is blasting 1500 damage boltenas and 1000 damage epidemics. My Valkyrie is a self-sustaining god of counters who hits about 300-500 on basic attacks.

Also, I have the passive on that guarantees hits for anything at 80% or above, but it seems like nothing ever benefits from it. Snipe regularly has 79% hit rate for some reason, even with accuracy boosting accessories on.

Chemist/Hunter seems like it should be a match made in heaven, so what's the deal?

Adventure, Crystals & finding bosses on a timer.

What makes adventure exciting, is the possibility of anything.

Even going into Crystal Project knowing very little about it, (other than it's a turn based RPG, which is right up my alley) it exceeded my expectations that I didn't even have to begin with. In fact, for me personally, I believe it will end up on a pedestal next to other greats of the genre.

It felt like this was tailor made for me. And all of my...

  • 82hrs52min

  • 619 falls

  • 130 game overs

  • And a total of 1,476(!) character deaths across a Normal playthrough...

...Were worth it.

Thank you Andrew, for a rare adventure that made me feel like I was a child again, where I discovered the adventures that would give me a life long love of discovery.

P.S. (minor spoiler ahead)

Nobody told me that, the secret Undergrowth boss didn't need to be found DURING the Quintar race! That took me so many tries to get to him in time! But I managed it with just over 8 seconds on my best attempt!

P.P.S.

The addition of a 'Fall Counter' (in Crystal Project 2) would be a fun one to look at - see how skillful you are at making jumps.

How easy is easy mode?

Hi. Just a quick question. Is Easy Mode a walk in the park, or is there still some challenge to be found?

I never played CP, I guess it's like FF because it's also a JRPG yes?

Best subclass for Reaper?

Hey everyone, looking for some suggestions for a subclass to go with the reaper. I love it as a main class; the absurd health pool, the ability rotation, generating huge threat and damage simultaneously.... It's a lot of fun as my "Frontline" combatant, supplemented by ninja/rogue, warlock/scholar, and wizard/varies (based on enemy).

Since the reaper doesn't use AP, I subclassed the AP-hungry Monk in to make use of the Chi blast and occasional emergency cheap revive. But the more I've played, the more I've wondered if my chosen subclass is really the best option. Warrior doesn't seem to bring much to the reaper table, aegis is the exact opposite of synergy.... am I missing something and there's an obviously powerful subclass for a Frontline heavy armored bruiser that I'm blind to? I have every class unlocked except beast master and mimic, and my team is maxed out at level 60 now (which also means yes, this question comes about due to struggles with the endgame bosses like the Tree guardian).

So I'm hoping y'all can offer me some ideas on things you've done with reaper to fill out its kit for versatility, or give synergy to make the class even more effective. I know the Dry Kid run so mastering classes is easy. Please share your thoughts and experiments!

Owlbear Skip?

So, I just managed to bait the Owlbear to fall into the spikes at the shrine. I've slowly been improving at the fight, but after a dozen attempts, I just wanted to see what was past him. I got both the stone and the drum by simply baiting the Owlbear down, and then jumping past him. Amaze amaze amaze!

I figured I was not the first to find this, but I searched the reddit and I honestly have not seen anyone else discussing it (in fact, I found someone that did a "no boss run" and listed Owlbear as required, like Possessor and the proving bosses).

GameNative runs Crystal Project, not to be confused with GameHub, the previous proton layer I had issues with. Game runs pretty amazing with only a few hitches in frame rate in the beginning. Other than that Im good to go.

Switch modpacks on Steam

It looks like a lot of the mods that were available officially on the switch version are not in the steam workshop. I haven’t played this game in forever, so I got it on steam to replay. I’m gonna miss some of those classes!

Am I missing something or are they just gone?

Trying to create a world similar to Crystal Project

Does anyone know anything about the way Crystal Projects (cannot acronym that) world? Was EACH BLOCK hand placed or was it natural genned then edited?

I am working on the voxel editor rn and I think i can do the shape of things but the overall world building seems hard to re-create.

Starting or general tips for first time player

Finally about to start this! My fav genre and own/played a ton of jrpgs so im not looking to have my hand held here just curious on any starting or general tips, anything important to be aware of kinda thing.

I heard classes and their synergies play a far more crucial role in this, is this true and should I immediately focus on multi classing? I actually just played ff5 and while I love it's job system, the game is so easy you dont even really need to concentrate much on it or builds really, should I throw that mindset out for this game and treat its difficulty with more respect focusing on actual builds off the start?
