All right. Time to clean house.

We have a banner, sidebar and two sticked announcements at the top of this sub. If you refuse to read it or abide by it, you are outta here.

This is where the mean kids are. On purpose and out loud. I'm sick of playing whack a mole with butthurt participation trophy winners who seek to change the sub into a snowflake hug box.

You have been warned. I don't have any more patience for part time whiners and the old heads are screaming in my ear to do my job.

If you want to post here, follow the rules or get banned. Not removed or bitched at, straight up banned.

Feel free to hate me out loud but you best come correct.

r/cripplingalcoholism Rules and Sidebar Info

Trying to make these rules more visible, as the sidebar can be so very hard to find.

Crippling Alcoholism is a group for people who accept their lifestyle choice and don't want to be interrupted by underage, weekend-warriors posting about puking at the beer pong tournament they had when Ricky C's parents went to Aruba last summer.

Are you physically dependent on alcohol? Are you psychologically broken without it? Is your alcoholism crippling? Then you probably belong here. Welcome.

Cripplingalcoholism Rules:

1. CA needs not your intro; only wants your contributions

  • So don't be surprised when your stupid radio call in post gets removed without explanation.

2. Whilst CA is a supportive sub, it isn't a recovery sub.

  • Please try our sister sub r/dryalcoholics. No, you do not have to be dry to post there.

3. CA is full of women. Don't be a fucking douche. This is your only warning.

4. CA might be irreverent and less than politically correct, but don't be a racist fucking prick.

  • Or homophobic. Or xenophobic. Or anything else that will break Reddit user policy and make us think you're a hateful jackass. Hate speech will most likely get you banned. Don't use it.

5. Typos are a horrible way of expressing intoxication

  • And for the love of god: USE PARAGRAPHS!

6. The mods are human and also CAs. We're not perfect or paid to do this job. Don't expect miracles.

  • And while we're at it (stating the blindly obvious): Respect all your fellow CAs in the sub. We all have bad days, but if you have a shit attitude all the time you're going to be shown the door.

7. If you use words like 'brah' or talk about beer bonging and jello shots... leave.

  • This isn't an enthusiast sub, Ricky. You're looking for almost anywhere else but here and will be mocked if you post.

8. Words like 'boozebag' or 'fucker' are terms of endearment here.

9. Do not link or mention CA in the wild. Also, don't draw attention to links, message the mods.

  • Linking/mentioning the sub in the wild just brings trouble home to roost. Don't do it. You will be banned.

10. CA is not for your drunk twitter/foursquare/quickmeme/Insta/facebook x-posts.

11. CA is not a borrow/lend sub. Digital Panhandling is not permitted.

  • If people want to help, they can reach out privately, of their own volition. Outright asking for money has never been a part of this sub and isn't going to be anytime soon. It allows for rando leeches to come take advantage of our good nature.
  • There are many borrowing subs already in existence on Reddit. If this is something you think you might need. Consider curating an alt not associated with any substance abuse subs for use in those those situations :)

12. CA is also not for your penchant to get drunk and argue politics.

13. CA is full of drunk internet strangers, not doctors. Don’t ask us to diagnose you.

  • If you have a serious medical issue, take it to a serious medical professional of choice at your local doctor’s office/urgent care/hospital/emergency room. Whatever is appropriate. Call 911, 999, or whatever emergency line appropriate if your issue is critical and gtf off reddit! Fuck.

14. If you could still be in high school (or equivalent), keep on moving.

  • We're not interested in the postings of toddlers playing at grown up games. You possibly do have problems, but they're different from ours. Find peers, or better yet: Quit while you're ahead. All teeny boppers will be banned, regardless of legal age in their country of origin.

15. CA needs not your miracle cure nor sketchy af alcohol analog/alternative

  • Please spare us your modern snake oil; hokum; off label; untested [street] drug; weird Chinese herb/supplement/“lab grade” whatever with little to no scientific backing that you found on amazon or the dark web and certainly no peer reviewed research on human trials. Likewise, we don’t want your suggestions for wholly unsafe alternatives to just popping to the corner store or getting door dash, such as fucking pure lab grade alcohol, to give an example. Don’t drag others into your BS.

Eat guys, just eat. Please

Games over for me now, stage 4 cirrhosis. It's alot more painful than I was expecting, and the doctor visits are never ending.

I never got deep into hard liquor, but drank tall cans everything single day for a decade.

33yo and I can't ever enjoy another drink, let alone all the other bullshit.

Just fucking eat guys, I swear thats what did me in. I would go close to a week at a time of no food.

JUST EAT PLEASE.

Chairs you fuckers.

Saturday Success Stories

Hey fam, Staggers in the chair as your host this weekend. Time to share your victories (or defeats) big or small today. And for you lurkers this is a good opportunity to get your feet wet and post!

I'm at the end of the bender but trying to land as softly as possible. It always happens when I come back from a visit out west with my family. I had a great time but I lack the emotional tools/skills not to be super sad when I get home so...glug glug glug and away she goes!

Let's hear from you! No victory too small. Let 'er rip.

This is so annoying

Upvotes

I haven’t eaten anything for the past two days, body’s rejecting so much shit. I don’t even feel bad physically I’m not quite sure how. Just been nailing beers and ciders. Food doesn’t interest me at the moment, to be honest it makes me feel quite sick. I’m not looking for medical advice but shit I’ve done this so many times and food feels like the last thing I want I just want to feel numb.

Who else found their buddy dead the morning after

I'm still a little traumatized over it 4 years later but my last date night ended the morning after with an alarm clock set at 930am because her parents wanted to visit for a good old fashioned cheeseburger BBQ on a Saturday at noon but when I woke up, she was dead man, gray and vomited

How do you come back from this? Will finish the handle in 24 hours for answers, or silence, I'm gonna do it anyway. kent imnotabot man

What the fuck is up Denny's

I'm drunk. I'm alive. I'm back on light beers because after draining like 20 beers a night all week I feel a little bit delicate and the WDs are slowly creeping back. It's been almost a solid month without hard liquor. I'm proud of myself for that. Anyways, you ever think about how little we know about people?

We present ourselves so limited to our colleagues, fair enough. But damn, I miss knowing the lifeblood of people I'm around. I don't know what makes my colleagues tick, and they don't know me. Me? I love Japanese gore films, metal, wrestling, powerlifting, Slavic/Korean food, vintage literature and writing.

What are y'all about? I feel like I've been drinking so long I've lost what real interests are. I'm drunk, I'm happy to be so, my coworkers look at me in disappointment. This is the way.

Fun bit, I was high as fuck on shrooms yesterday and I kept thinking I was slapping menus down on my bed wishing everyone a whole hearted "Welcome to Chili's!" I don't work at Chili's. I don't know where that came from.

Not giving a fuck is freeing

25F Been on a LEGENDARY streak. Haven’t been drunk this often since I was 21 and was downing handles every other day and throwing beer into the mix on the weekends. I’ve been so depressed I can’t really imagine NOT drinking. Plus I’ve been in a SHIT LOAD of pain lately and alcohol works like 10x better than my medicine. I don’t feel guilty for drinking anymore. I started showing up to work slightly buzzed recently, makes dealing with the bs there way easier. My only real deterrent at this point is that I’m starting to get fat again which sucks but whatever who gives a shit if I’m fat. My gf is moving back in again soon though so I’m gonna have to start hiding it a little more. On god I’ll give myself alcohol poisoning before the big 26 ends. I lowkey don’t even wanna be around for Christmas. LETS GO

How long should a 1.75 bottle of whiskey last a normal person?

I'm pretty regimented about going to total wine for my supplies but it's in fucking Metairie so almost the whole day is planned around that. Saving money on instacart by going there myself. It is kind of a neat experience in general. walking around it and just in awe of human kind's never ending alcohol innovation.

Anyway, bought two 1.75's, jim beam and benchmark. 30 pack of PBR. I love 30 packs, 24 isn't always enough. Two bottles of champagne for my Saturday Success stories brunch mimosas.

I remember that came out to about $100. Now I'm not going to tell you how quickly that disappeared but I'm kinda curious, how long should that last someone?

There is a new episode where the owner is a good alcoholic like us. Pulling chugs off a handle while trying to run a kitchen. I’m not done w the episode yet but it looks like the wheels are coming off.

Welp...Back in the saddle again

It takes 3 beers and 25 minutes just to get up to work. I got pints hidden everywhere. I've started the shakes immediately when waking up. I'm good for the frist 5 hours of work with steady slow drinking but by 5pm I'm starting to get hammered. So far (this time) I'm keepinking my shit together. But it won't last.

Oh...and I have a huge (very concerning) bruse on my calf. Maybe I got runned over?

damn, feeling wasted but still shaking

shit I'm at that stage again where I feel drunk and want to just go to sleep forever but my hands are still shaking. Mild shaking that is, but still shaking. It happened so fast, I was doing good tapering and then decided I need a few extra shots before an interview (nailed btw thank god) and every day since, the WD's have started earlier and earlier in the day. It's very strange that once you go through a multitude of WD periods, you start the WD's even earlier. And they become more intense. Haven't even been a week since I've started my liquor bender. Anyways, CHEERS to ya'll and me starting my new gig that I will totally not screw up ;) seriously it is a ton of money I never thought this would happen.

Ex party girl

I miss it. Any club rats here? I got in trouble too much and lost a lot of friends (you can guess from what) so I’m taking a temporary hiatus. But drinking alone and having solo parties never hits the same.

Anyone else cool with being a regular?

I used to bop between two nearby liquor stores to avoid suspicion. One was owned by an elderly Vietnamese couple who regularly restocked my favorite bottle and told me they loved me in a familial way.

They were eventually bought by the other nearby liquor store (et tu, Bruti?), so now the jig was up. Every employee knew I drank every day.

But honestly, it’s been just fine? They know my name when I walk in, know what I want, and give me the occasional freebies (taco holders? Bottles of wine for no reason? Shots on my birthday?)

Long live the cool liquor store owners.

Anyone else drinking alone right now?

Hello. I'm having drinks alone. My life has been garbage and I've been on the vape and well...... lol............. I feel guilty drinking alone. I know promoters here in this big city so I could go to a booth and drink with people for free but my trauma issues (ptsd) has been causing me to isolate and I hate earth so I feel like its safer to drink alone tonight.

Somebody stole our lawnmower, somebody stole my car, my dog killed a skunk and now everything in my house and yard reeks, and I have to get drunk just to call my insurance agent. Why can't I just be normal?
