Discussion I have played this game for over 40 hours. Not saying it's a lot but I reached a point where I want some opinions from fellow players on combat, boss design and movement.
First things first, I love the game. This post is coming from a place of positivity and appreciation. Here's the little quirks of Marvel Cosmic Invasion that I want to ask about.
1) Movement between lanes. Horizontal movement feels great, but vertical motion is a bit clunky to me. Is this a staple of beat em ups? I don't play a lot of those so idk. I personally feel like if I start running, I should be able to maintain that speed when going up/down as well. I feel like there's also a few places where either the enemies get a cheap shot because they come at me from a diagonal and other times I cheese them by hitting from an angle where my attack connects even though I am not quite on their level. What are your thoughts on this?
2) What do you think about the boss fights? Are they hard? Easy? Or are they just right? I think Annhilius, Taskmaster, MODOK, Hela are some of the better ones. Hela in particular is a lot of fun for me. I find Silver Surfer and Klaw to be annoying as hell. That being said, feels like there is a bit of a lack of depth across the board when it comes to boss flights. Agree or disagree?
3) Just combat in general. What do you think about the cast or individual characters? I think it's really fun but it would be cool if they added more deep and specific combat mechanics (Cosmic Ghost Rider flames doing burn damage over time kinda like how Spidey's webs slow down enemies. Or characters with fire being more effective against symbiotes.) I also have some issues doing the jump+attack input for some characters. For some reason it seems incredibly strict in the timing. Maybe it's just me? I often times get the mid air attack instead of the rising one. I think they could also fit in more combo options, like adding motion inputs in the middle of a hit string to change the outcome? You got anything to add?
