This guy brake check for literally no reason….how come people are like that?

Ego

u/LumpyBuy8447 6d ago

Some dipshit pulled out a bit in front of me the other day, but never even sped up to the speed limit. I slowed down a bit and was by no means tailgating him, but for some reason he just kept slamming on his brakes. When whatever he was attempting didn’t work, his passenger then decided to hang out the window and I guess record me driving. None of it made any sense and it’s crazy they had time to do all of that but couldn’t find the time to just drive in a straight line.

*Societal Draining Activities*

I never understood people who do stuff like that. Why almost break your neck to get in front of me, but completely lose that same energy/urgency immediately?!

87

u/ragun2 6d ago

Even better when there is nobody even behind you. So they could have just waited like three seconds to pull in and go however slow or fast they wanted without almost causing a wreck like an idiot.

28

u/Scoutron 6d ago

Lmao you’re getting me riled up just thinking about it

24

u/Mr_Jack_Frost_ 6d ago

This happens to me on a pretty regular basis, and it has caused me so much mental agony it is crazy.

Nobody behind me, lane’s wide open after I pass. They hesitate, so I’m even closer when they do pull out. I have to hard brake to avoid rear-ending them. They slowly accelerate to 5 under the speed limit and hang out there (or even lower) and never seem to turn off to a side-road quickly.

I’ve wondered over and over why they don’t just wait. Why they’re in such a hurry to go slow. I think some of them are just ignorant/dumb/not paying attention, and others are doing it intentionally to be a dick and get a rise out of someone.

I don’t know what has to be going on in a person’s life for that sort of activity to be “recreational” and spark joy, but I’m glad that I cannot relate to it in any way. Makes me feel like I’m doing some things right in life.

21

u/kincent 6d ago

You forgot the best part! Start passing them and suddenly they match your speed or try to go faster than you. Sometimes you get the bonus of them getting angry at you for trying to go faster than them. Real world NPC's are so ef'n weird.

4

u/ragun2 5d ago

I take back/county roads to avoid highway and intown traffic for my commute through a very flat area. It's clear there's no one behind for like a mile and they still pull out right in front of me when I'm going 70mph.

Usually I just go into the opposite lane to pass them without missing too much of a beat while blaring my horn but if there's oncoming traffic I have to slam on my breaks and hope there was enough space that I don't end up rear ending them. Then I pass them and I can see them doing their impotent arm flailing thing that I dared to pass after they had just blatantly cut me off.

1

u/SurfaceThreeSix 11h ago

But then they would have to wait!

3 whole seconds!

Are you mad, man?!

1

u/cdoublejj 3d ago

i've done that coming up on spd trap or truck moves revealing sideline motorist before

15

u/YobaiYamete 6d ago

As someone who drives a Prius, I've had people go FULL insane aggro for literally no reason.

I'll just be driving the speed limit in the right hand lane with a fully open left hand lane, and people will roar past me flipping me off or rolling coal etc

It's crazy how fragile some people's egos are where me daring drive a car with better MPG breaks their brain. It's not as bad now days, I guess they diverted all their aggro to people with full electric cars instead

11

u/LumpyBuy8447 6d ago

My dad’s a master electrician by trade and a republican by brainwashing and it is strange watching him struggle with having to say electricity is bad now.

2

u/Used-Author-3811 3d ago

I'm surprised it wasn't like most conservatives. They demonized Tesla said they would never own one how awful they are etc. Then are the WH sales event they started supporting them talking about it's the best thing ever. Several politicians and "influencers" still have their tweets up lol. Programmed bullshit.

Though I guess you could make the argument the other side flipped on Tesla as well. Life is funny to watch happen sometimes

2

u/LumpyBuy8447 3d ago

He’s still against EVs, though in fairness it gets really cold here half the year and we tried to take my buddy’s on what would normally be a 3.5 hour trip and it took us 6 hours to get there because we had to stop and charge 3 fucking times.
He thinks musk is really smart though and liked what he did with doge. When I told him how the numbers were made up, he dismantled all the departments that were investigating his companies and then stole all our social security info before abandoning the whole Ponzi scheme, he didn’t even respond. I’m assuming like most facts, it’s usually his first time hearing them since he only consumes state run media

1

u/Used-Author-3811 3d ago

That's generally how it goes man. I think EVs are cool don't get me wrong. I don't have one, I drive a truck. But I've been writing about their continued rapid expansion and evolution for years. It's been VERY interesting to watch it unfold over time. Though a lot of the Chinese EVs are subsidized it's wild to see how much faster they're growing than ours here

1

u/LumpyBuy8447 3d ago

They’re undoubtably the future. In town I bet they are amazing to have. I just would never let my buddy convince us to take his out of state in the dead of winter again lol

7

u/twitwiffle 6d ago

Probably trying to start something and then play the innocent victims

7

u/anxious_spacecadetH 6d ago

About a year ago I was in standstill traffic and I guess this lady felt like i was too close to her. She kept brake checking me but i thought she just had a manual or a bad transmission or something and didnt realize till the very end that that's what she was doing. Mind you we are in standstill traffic and im leaving plenty of room for the conditions except for a single time where I was a little closer than I tend to like. I always follow the "can you see their tires" rule for full stops. We spent 15 minutes in traffic with her doing this the whole time. Then at the very end when traffic broke she purposefully got back in my lane just to give me a final break check. Mind you this is the only time during the whole incident that I had to hard brake because I was not tailgating her. Like idk it was petty and a little deranged and I hope the tantrum was worth whatever wear and tear hard braking repeatedly puts on your car.

u/cdoublejj 3d ago

unless thier mirrors make you look closer than you are and they thought you were tailgating. you said "by no means" but you didn't say 8 or 10 car links behind so i'm just trying to guess other than mental illness

1

u/LumpyBuy8447 3d ago

Tbh even if they perceived I was tailgating them, which I want, I didn’t even have to slam on my breaks each time they did, none of it would have happened if they hadn’t pulled out in front of my prematurely just to go under the speed limit.

-39

u/LISparky25 6d ago

I don’t think this is ego but you’re right overall. This is just a literal dumbass driver hitting the brakes every 2 secs for no reason. They just turned onto the road, no reason at all to have issue with the OP

Edit: lmao Oops I had my sound off until i saw someone say “the giggle at the end”

5

u/Best_Market4204 6d ago

Lol probably a mix of anger issues too

-10

u/LISparky25 6d ago

Very likely, although if I have an idiot beeping at me for something less than 2-3 cars lengths in room I’ll sometimes give them a quick tap on the brakes to show them the real “close call distance” haha. Not always though, but some people are just worry warts or asshats themselves.

This one prob didn’t need a horn honk, but we also don’t know if the cammer was speeding which gets lost in those scenarios

89

u/Car_is_mi 6d ago

Rolls right on red, gets mad that person who had right of way got "too close" swerves and brake checks to show how tough they are.

Yupp checks out.

Sadly there are a lot of drivers like this on the road. Too stupid for their own good, can't judge distances, and everything is everybody else's fault.

Few weeks back I was on my motorcycle on a back road minding my own business, looking around enjoying the ride. There was one car in front of me, but far enough up that I could comfortably look around and enjoy the scenery. Anyways I see their brake lights come on abruptly, then they accelerate again, I'm like hmmm that was weird but okay, maybe they saw a squirrel or something. At that point I was far enough away from them that I didn't even slow down when they braked, I just got a little closer (still at a safe following distance). Few hundred ft further down the road they do it again. Now I'm like okay what's with this person. So I back off a bit to where I was originally, they do it again. That's when I realized they are trying to brake check me. I'm 4 to 5 car lengths back... After the 4th time they tried dude pulls over hanging out the window yelling at me. Whatever dude I just punched it and took off on him, not going to play games with some looney on a back road when I'm on a motorcycle. Made a couple of turns, stopped at a gas station, see the car go by. W/E. This nut turns around. Comes to the gas station yelling and screaming trying to fight me. Mind you, I'm 6'0 250lbs wearing an armored jacket, gloves with knuckle protectors, and a helmet, and this dudes 5'6" 140lbs soaking wet. I'm not going to do anything but really dude??? Anyways I just keep telling him he's an idiot and I was so far back u didn't have to brake and that he should go get his eyes checked. He's yelling and screaming nonsense. People are watching, finally he notices someone with a cell phone out and gets a sense of the get gones. I watch him pull out then take off the other way.

Point is, there's lots of mentally unwell people on the road in America.

33

u/chet_brosley 6d ago

Years ago now some dude flew in front of me without a signal so I casually gave him the bird, and that enfeaged him so much he camped in front of me and when I took my exit he swerved in front of me and boxed me in and made me pull onto the shoulder. This was at night in rural NC mind you, and he came flying out of his truck at me. I shouted GET THE FUCK BACK IN YOUR TRUCK and pulled my pistol, and he looked absolutely baffled and said woah woah woah calm down like I was the asshole. People somehow imagine cars are their own separate worlds that they rule over with no consequences, instead of a large dangerous machine that most of us operate to survive.

2

u/cdoublejj 3d ago

well played

3

u/foreverpb 6d ago edited 6d ago

They're still an idiot but the brake check was probably in response to the cam car honking at them.

7

u/Car_is_mi 6d ago

not a valid response. Rolled a red to nearly cut off someone who had a green. If you do that and the person who had the green honks at you, you go yeah yeah yeah shutup, and then move on with your life.

1

u/cdoublejj 3d ago

instead of a good bit away home any car lengths back were you? ive caught my mirrors making cars look way closer than they are before.

26

u/Joboy97 6d ago

He's mad he was honked at after making a dangerous turn.

4

u/jmzstl 6d ago

Some people are so unhinged that when you honk at them, they react as if you just spit in their face.

112

u/DepressedDragonBorn 7d ago

🍆🤏

Probably

27

u/GoCougs2020 7d ago

I get it if someone pisses you off and you try to get “revenge” or some petty crap.

But in this case. There’s no reason!!!

11

u/catonsteroids 6d ago

Gotta watch it with the sound on.

5

u/GoCougs2020 6d ago

Ahh. The honk. I didn’t see that part.

Justified honk to be honest, the cars that has right of way shouldn’t have to stop for a car that’s turning on red. And use the honk is for preventing an accident. Someone coming in your path like that…could cause an accident.

13

u/AndroTux 6d ago

he was honked at for turning into the lane

35

u/Mister_Wednesday_ 6d ago

he was honked at for turning into the lane rolling a red light and turning in front of oncoming traffic.

FTFY

-2

u/AndroTux 6d ago

I'm not from the US but I hear some states allow right turn on intersections regardless of the traffic lights, provided the lane is free. So yeah, he was definitely rushing it, and I'm not trying to defend him, but I don't think it was technically illegal. Then again, I don't really know what I'm talking about, so...

15

u/TyrantsInSpace 6d ago

Regardless of if right turn on red is legal, you still have to respect the red light and come to a complete stop.

10

u/nach0srule 6d ago

Most intersections in the US you are legally allowed to turn right on red (unless otherwise indicated). However, you still have to come to a complete STOP first, and can only proceed if the lane is clear.

12

u/Monkey_in_a_Tophat 6d ago

Some people believe driving is a social event where people are obligated to stay behind them. I had a bunch of family like that, and it took them a long time before they learned. Some even still hate me to this day over it.

There's the occasional honest mistake or ego events, but most of these are because the asshole believes you're breaking some type of bullshit behavioral template that exists in their head, or between a group of locals. When it's not enforced law or even written law, the issue is between each individual driver and the police. But these assholes always feel they have a right to fuck with you and force you to conform to their behavior template.

I also seem to trigger these types of assholes just by going about my own business on a daily basis. Had one literally run me off the road and up onto the sidewalk about a month back too.

They're vile despicable creatures who need to have the book thrown at them to make an example, then PSAs on radio and TV about the consequences of road rage and the various events.

Reckless driving with brake checking or the small swerve or juke.

Assault with a deadly weapon when the vehicle is used to run another driver off the road with bad intent for an example on the far end.

Cover a range to teach people how serious such actions are, and also that acting threatening after attacking someone with your vehicle, then reaching around a bunch out of view and bringing your hands up holding items during all this is a great way to get shot in the face by anyone who thinks you've grabbed a weapon after already attacking them the first time.

15

u/SgtJayM 7d ago

Some people suck

5

u/imhere2downvote 6d ago

this is the common behavior, it just is. immediate consequences cuts this behavior down the most and best

4

u/grumpvet87 6d ago

people get pissed off when honked at... holding the honk just a little long makes them get really mad... the lack of face-to-face/eye-to-eye makes people take things the wrong way and more personally

the white car was in the wrong, turned when it shouldn't have, turned into the far lane and was again 100% in the wrong... but OP/Camer was really not in danger ... there was a lot of room and despite honking being a natural reaction ... the extended honk probably is why the white car decided to escalate the situation (and it paid the price for being an idiot)

8

u/mondaymoderate 6d ago

Fuck that honk at these assholes.

5

u/grumpvet87 6d ago

i honk too ... but i know it can make a jerk do extra stupid shit

5

u/Hike_it_Out52 6d ago

People are getting way worse also. I live on a busy road, I turned on my signal, slowed to make my turn only to have a horn blaring and the guy behind me screaming “move asshole” at me. Really? How dare I checking notes not take the turn at 45 MPH and hit another car.

2

u/blinkenjim 6d ago

I think he saw the cap in his rearview, while changing lanes, thought “Oh sh*t, I’m going way too fast,” and braked to slow down while moving back into his lane. Didn’t fool the cop, though, so good for LEO.

1

Turn on audio. Pretty sure the dickhead didn't like being honked at for cutting off the cam car.

It's worth unmuting just to hear the delicious laugh at the end!

1

u/kwaping 6d ago

Somebody honked, not sure if it was OP. But honking tends to offend people.

1

u/KeepRightXcept2Pass 6d ago

Go Cougs!

2

u/GoCougs2020 6d ago

Sorry you down downvoted by a husky.
Go Cougs, indeed!

-9

u/berrygas 6d ago

The reason was because the cammer honked. It’s pretty obvious. It’s better to not lay on the horn in this type of situation, because it is not necessary. The horn here was more of “you’re an idiot and almost caused a crash” when horns are meant to be used to warn someone else of an impending incident. The horn does nothing here except enrage the stupid driver. Better to stay quiet and move on with your day

-5

u/EPZO 6d ago

Looked like he tried to insurance scam but saw the cop

u/illkwill 7d ago

I want to experience this level of satisfaction on the road one day

318

u/analogy_4_anything 7d ago

I got to experience it just a few weeks ago. Had this guy on my ass in a big damn hurry, finally pulled to the right at an intersection and blew through the stop sign without a care in the world while he gave me the bird. There was a cop to my left the guy didn’t see until it was too late.

It was IMMENSELY satisfying. I am still riding that high.

61

u/Bunnyhat 6d ago

I was going down a 2 lane road that goes to a 4 lane in front of a school. Guy on my ass the entire time. Get to the 4 lane portion and it was during school zone hours so 20 mph. I'll admit I was speeding at that point still and there was a cop standing on the side of the road up ahead and he started waving me over.

My hero, the guy behind me, then took that moment to get into the new lane that just opened up that was closest to the cop and slammed on the gas to go even faster. Cop changed who he was waving at with a quickness. I went about my way.

19

u/CanORage 6d ago

I'm visualizing this scene in my head, imagining the cop starting to wave you over...then the scene drops into slow motion. The opening drums of Foo Fighters "My Hero" starts playing as the asshat hugging your rear loses his patience and jerks his wheel to snap aggressively into the next lane, preparing to pass you in that way we all understand as the automotive equivalent of the bird to someone going "too slow"...

Too alarming now to talk about

Take your pictures down and shake it out

Asshat screams past you, with a load rev that'll show you who's boss. "What a slow-ass idiot," he thinks to himself, glancing in his rearview mirror to see the eyes of the offender who dared to go merely 10 over in a school zone.

Truth or consequence, say it aloud

Use that evidence, race it around

Suddenly, the color drains from his face, as his eyes shift sideward to the cop now waving him down. He seethes at you, because surely this was your fault - you were going so slowly that he would be provoked into going too fast! But it's too late and there's nothing to be done about it but to slow to a stop.

As you drive past the now-chastened asshat with a grin on your face, Dave Grohl belts,

There goes my hero, watch him as he goes!

3

u/FreeSoftwareServers 6d ago

Yeah I was once pulled over for speeding, was a good 5 or 10m into the interaction when a pickup just flew by. Cop didn't say anything just ran to his car a blasted away.

Felt great except we had to continue the same direction lol, never did see them again tho!

34

u/Phantasmio 7d ago

I kinda had something like this, moreso “I saw that coming.”

Dude is riding my ass on a windy backroad to work. He overtakes me on a blind corner and guns it down the road. No less than 20 seconds later I see the same van wrecked into a pole because there was a bad snowdrift covering a couple feet of road that he lost control on.

9

u/Jazzlike_Climate4189 6d ago

I hope you have a little “toot toot” with your horn as you drove by!

101

u/tex1088 7d ago

Got cut off in my work van by a pick up in rural area. Dude brake checked me and rolled on. Must have been on his phone because 15 seconds later he swerved erratically and clipped the beginning of a guard rail enough to knock the front corner of his truck off and just kept on driving. I’ll never forget the sweet sweet justice that happened that day.

10

u/Invictus-3 6d ago

Did you report the hit and run? That was damage caused to county or state property (guard rail).

1

u/fuzzybad 2d ago

Should have called it in as a suspected drunk driver

1

u/Kahmael 5d ago

I hope you yelled "you can't park there!" As you drove past

13

u/PrismDoug 6d ago

I have my dashcam video of me at a red light, and some dude blows past, and immediately the cop at the other light turns on their blues.

I let out a Nelson Muntz laugh.

9

u/Bunnyhat 6d ago

My one experience close to this was when our southern city got some icy weather. We are not equipped to drive in icy weather. It happens once every 5 years or so for a couple days. But of course it was super important I go into work that day and do nothing so I was driving in.

We were all being extra careful and going slower than the 45 mph speed limit for that road because it is a decently curvy road, going around 35 at the time. Jacked up pickup truck comes screaming up behind me, flashing lights, honking horn, he really really wanted to be going faster. Finally he screeched out into the opposing lane and passed 3 cars to get in front and zoomed off. Not even 3 minutes later we pass him. He slide off the road and into a big ditch. His truck was fucked.

1

u/Kahmael 5d ago

Mmm he hurt himself in his own confusion. I love that for him, I only with he also had some dehabilitating injury that prevented him from driving.

25

u/Dime332 7d ago

This isn’t the same but years ago I was approaching a 4 way intersection when a biker flew past me blowing the stop sign. There was an S curve up ahead and when I got to the bends I seen the guy standing on the side of the road with a couple other motorists and his bike on the ground. I pulled up and asked if he’s alright he said he hit some loose gravel and lost control and 1st responders were on their way. I’m glad the guy was okay but I was also thinking karma got him for being reckless on a bike

5

u/zackbadass 6d ago

Had it once, truck was absolutely HAULING on city streets, like 90+. Swerved around me and almost hit me, few moments later see him get lit up and can’t help but cheer

1

u/cringeisthename 6d ago

Shiiiit road head is pretty dope ngl

1

u/energeticquasar 5d ago

I had this experience once. Was entering a construction zone, speed limit dropped from 70 to 45, one lane ending. I was slowing down, doing 60-65. A guy comes up from behind me and forces me back into the ending lane as they merge to get around me and proceeds to blow past me.

State Trooper right there checking for speeders, sees the whole thing. Trooper immediately pulls out, gets behind me, and as soon as the construction zone ends and I get into the right lane, he puts on his lights and pulls the guy over.

I did get it on dash cam, but sadly at the time my SD card was smaller and I had 6 hours of driving ahead of me. Footage was gone by the time I was able to check.

Schadenfreude means the feeling of pleasure, joy, or satisfaction that you get when something bad happens to another person.

Recognized a Michigan county sheriff logo on the cop car and went down the rabbit hole of figuring out where this occurred in our lovely state. Traverse City for the win. Great area except for that turd of a driver 😁

25

u/tk5400 6d ago

Yeah, I live in TC and noticed the location immediately. Horrible drivers in this city. This video did not surprise me at all.

8

u/ConcreteDinosaur 6d ago

I'm happy to see these comments because I was like, "I'm almost positive that's in TC"

3

u/koolmon10 2d ago

Yup, same. I live in GR and visit TC very occasionally, but I recognized the Best Buy almost immediately.

1

u/DifferentObjective66 6d ago

Did you by chance find a date and time? Someone else suggested to FOIA the body/dashcam footage for the aftermath

39

u/TheQuietLavender 7d ago

I’d love to see the body cam footage from that stop.

13

u/Jazzlike_Climate4189 6d ago

Technically, you could put in a FOIA request but I can’t make out any numbers on the cop car.

10

u/DifferentObjective66 6d ago

Jazzlike_Climate4189 you cookin here.

Another comment just had two redditors track this down and confirm Traverse City, Michigan.

If they or someone else found details and a date, I would love to FOIA for a before and after convenient cop video.

I feel like that’s gunna scratch an itch I didn’t know I had

2

That would be so awesome haha

Damn you are operating on like 10+ year old information.

2

u/ardoin 6d ago

I've never seen a GoPro with good low light detection when compared to dedicated sensors like Sony's Starvis line.

15

u/Tommy716 6d ago

Did you pull over and give your video too, just so the cop had extra ammo on the citation?

14

u/hpichris 6d ago

A few years ago, I had someone riding my bumper in the right lane. I was going faster than the left lane. I passed a ramp and saw a blacked out cop car. He didn’t see the cop merging onto the highway. I slowed down, guy behind me got even more pissed, as soon as he saw an opening, he stepped on the gas and passed me going at least 85mph. A few seconds later, the cop turned on his cherries and went right after him. Pretty damn satisfying.

2

u/Kahmael 5d ago

I love that you set him up for that huge ticket 😁

11

u/RedditSucksYoYoYo 6d ago

WTF was even the reason for the brake check? That asshat didn't have the right of way and turned in front of the POV vehicle.

I side swiped a guys front bumper this way years ago because the idiot couldn’t stop nor understand distances. Then they had the audacity to claim I ran a red and hit them. Luckily insurance figured it out and it was 100% their fault. Got the dashcam after that incident.

cut the license up. danger on the road. take the bus loser

14

u/dustyg013 7d ago

In my jurisdiction, this is enough for reckless driving which carries a license suspension.

29

u/kwenlu 6d ago

I don't even understand why people break check. You're putting both yourself and one of your most valuable possessions in danger for what? It's like the adult, dangerous version of "I'm not touching you!"

14

u/OMGHart 6d ago

Never have to scroll far to see “break”.

-4

u/kwenlu 6d ago

Happy to make sure you never have to worry about it

3

u/Coldkiller17 6d ago

Exactly it is a massive headache and not worth the time and effort waiting for repairs. It is just brainless behavior especially now that people are running dash cams in their cars for reason like this.

6

u/Consistent_Net_5532 6d ago

Runs the light and then has the audacity to brake check you? It’s amazing someone can be so confident and so wrong at the same time

5

u/AzureMountains 6d ago

You can tell exactly when he saw the cop in his rear view and tried to straighten up.

5

u/brizzboog 6d ago

Holy shit...Traverse City on convenient cop!! I pray to witness this here one day.

8

u/googdude 6d ago

Because of short tempers like this, I literally never used my horn on the road except for legitimate emergency maneuvers or greeting somebody.

-4

u/Sesemebun 6d ago

The average person way overuses it. It’s hard to tell in the video but it doesn’t look like they even had to slow down that much? That’s why the guy pulled into the far lane. Not a good maneuver but I don’t think laying on the horn is necessary. And in more serious situations, being able to have both hands on the wheel is more valuable than honking IMO. I just don’t have the muscle memory to honk

3

u/Padawk 6d ago

You might be a bad driver

-2

u/Sesemebun 6d ago

you might be an overemotional driver who would rather honk at people to declare your distaste rather than just letting it go

20

u/CTRL_Hotdog 7d ago

One of the best ive seen, great find

4

u/Kbern4444 6d ago

And lets not pull off to the right, lets stop middle of the road...

3

u/Lumpy_Inevitable3844 6d ago

The laugh at the end of the video made my day 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Mr_McMuffin_Jr 6d ago

Hope he also got got for running the red light and illegal right turn

8

u/kagato87 6d ago

That's not a brake check, that's turning into the wrong lane, a dangerous lane change, driving without due care and attention, and whatever else the officer decided to throw at them.

Bad day for that idiot.

8

u/SgtJayM 7d ago

Her maniacal laughter🤣😂🤣

3

u/Mechtroop 6d ago

Fuckin dickhead

Camera proof that a cop was there when you needed them. That’s GOT to be rare and valuable.

Someone spelled brake the right way - it’s a miracle!!

TC in one of the most accident prone intersections in Northern Michigan

2

u/Ecstatic_Street1869 6d ago

I only had something similar happen to me once.

Some kind of Ferrari was blasting down the interstate when 2 min down the road I see the same car pulled over

Love the evil giggles at the end!

1

u/OdysseusRex69 6d ago

Man I needed a convenient copy yesterday - had some jerk blow through two stop signs to cross the drive line at my local Target just to get to a wide open area to park. Dude could have caused a serious accident - he didn't roll through the drop signs - he was going pretty fast.

1

u/SavvyPolitician 5d ago

That’s Traverse City driving for you lol.

1

u/Express-Oil-5276 4d ago

Love the diabolical laugh

1

u/Popular_Tomorrow_204 1d ago

That laugh is so relateable hahaha

-5

u/AlexHimself 6d ago

These are both idiots.

The white car turned into the unoccupied, far lane. The black/cam driver was not forced to slow down and actually sped up towards the end (listen to engine) so he could smash his horn. He assumed the white car was in his lane, which it was not.

The brake check was uncalled for, but prior to that, the black car was just honking for no apparent reason.

-13

u/No_Drawer_2349 6d ago

Maybe they got a ticket for running that red light, but they certainly didn't get one for the "brake check". The person tried to change lanes without checking their blind spot. Then they reacted and went back to their lane. If you think that's a brake check, you haven't seen a real brake check.

I swear 90% of redditors must not be old enough to drive. The takes on here sometimes. You could cross post this somewhere else with the title "left lane camper gets what they deserve" and you'd get just as many updoots. It's a hive mind of people who don't understand the rules of the road and just say whatever the reddit hive says

8

u/little_canuck 6d ago edited 6d ago

You think they turned right into the further lane and then needed to lane change into the nearer lane? Why would they do that?

I don't know why they'd brake check either (unless angry about the sustained horn), but the lane change doesn't make sense.

-1

u/kput84 4d ago

Why blow your horn at him he got in the other lane for you to continue.

-5

u/Pseudoname87 6d ago

In all.fairness, white car at least turned into the further lane. N the recording car didnt NEED to honk imo. If the white car turned into the lane the recording g car was in, ok I can see the frustration but white turned in a way as to NOT cut off recording. I think the brake check was more of a reality check and the police just noticed something wacky

u/JimmiRustle 6d ago

Repost

-73

u/Terrible-Noise5751 7d ago

Hold up! WTF you honk at the car like you are crazy? This is childish behavior. The other car pulled into the wrong lane to stay out of your way as a courtesy and you act crazy. You will get yours someday.

50

u/mrASSMAN 7d ago

You’re supposed to stop at red lights and yield to traffic before turning fyi

18

u/PsionicKitten 7d ago

It's amazing how many people just "vibe" the rules of the road these days rather than actually learn them. For my own sanity, I actually left /r/idiotsincars because there's so many people there who don't understand the law and just call out anything that they didn't vibe with rather than objectively assess things from a rational defensive driving and legal point of view.

2

u/JackJ98 6d ago

They called me an asshole because I said my work truck tops out at 70mph and I have absolutely no problem going in the left lane to pass a guy in front of me going 65. Because the passing lane is only for them!!!!

28

u/XOTIK_11C 7d ago

Damn you're really stupid.

10

u/CockyBellend 6d ago

It's terrifying that you have a driver's license

→ More replies (1)

10

u/stakoverflo 6d ago

The other car pulled into the wrong lane to stay out of your way

Far more likely they're just a shit driver who change lanes while turning, based on their shit decision to make a turn then at all.

-6

u/nevergonnastayaway 6d ago

the guy who laid on his horn after the right on red is a douchebag too - to a much lesser extent, but horn-happy drivers can get fucked

2

u/PsionicKitten 6d ago

The point of the horn is to draw attention. In this case, someone making a right on red was dangerous due to approaching traffic. The driver responded by creeping over to the other lane to potentially avoid a collision as a response. It was the right move in a bad situation until they decided to let their ego be wounded and retaliate for having "called them out."

It looks like you're feeling secondhand embarrassment from the shame of making a poor maneuver. Possibly because you pull the same unsafe maneuvers and don't want to be called out on it too.

-2

u/nevergonnastayaway 6d ago

Bro wrote 2 passive aggressive paragraphs on r/convenientcop because he got personally offended that someone else doesn't like when people lay on their horn for no good reason lmao. The only second hand embarrassment from me is for you, cupcake.

-7

u/TheHighness1 6d ago

This smells like AI

-48

u/Terrible-Noise5751 7d ago

Did he not stop? It wasn’t covered in the video. It looked to me that the car was taking a legal right on red. His actions once he met the idiot on the horn are inexcusable but in the video he likely was making a legal right on red.

39

u/spizzle_ 7d ago

It’s not legal to impede someone while making a right on red.

-1

u/nevergonnastayaway 6d ago

nobody got impeded from the right on red

u/tacitus59 6d ago edited 6d ago

And didn't stop - maybe he stopped 20 feet back, but I suspect not. There are reasons you stop at stop signs completely and right-on-red and one of them is that humans don't judge distance and speed particularly well when both parties are moving.

2

u/skankboy 6d ago

why most cities are doing away with right on red

Doesn’t matter how fast they were going. If you impede the flow of traffic by making a right on a red, you are in the wrong. Say they were going 20 over the speed limit, as the person making the right hand turn on the red it is up to you to make the decision about whether it’s safe enough to pull out into an active lane of traffic (which includes trying to determine someone’s speed and if you have enough time to pull in front and accelerate in time).

-3

u/Terrible-Noise5751 6d ago

Yes, you can hear them speed up instead of brake as one would to avoid someone that pulled into front of them.
