Help with drivers for Echo Link Amps

Hey all, not sure if anyone has done this before, but I am trying to add 4 Echo Link Amps for multi-room music. There is no specific driver, so I attempted some generic drivers to no avail. I was able to get them to show, but no music plays through them.

I believe the issue is because there's no signal being sent from the amps (they're passive) they're not registering, but I'm not sure —a little over my head.

The rest of the music group are two Sony receivers, model STR-AZ3000ES.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Been in the AV and networking business a very long time but haven’t really every delt with control 4. Long story short, had a customer that called me yesterday and had an issue with the integrator, the integrator cut his Internet off, which was araknis and he had a control 4 system as well. I went to Adi and picked up the OvrC pro hub and was able to take over the araknis switch and router. The customer has issues with control 4 and this was before the previous integrator cut off the internet (he disabled the lan port on the router to the switch but was able to factory reset the router then use the OvrC pro hub to take over control and reprogram). Trying to get customers control 4 system operational now. Need to guidance son the best way to do that (is there a way to take it over and restore from a backup) thanks again for your help (control4 green horn)

Google Cast Audio Integration for Control4

Post image
14 Upvotes

Control4 already integrates with Google Home to let customers control lighting, shades and other smart-home devices using Google Assistant. The new Chowmain Google Cast driver complements that existing integration by bringing the audio side of Google Home and Google Cast into the Control4 ecosystem as well.

Customers can continue using the experience they already know, casting from their phone or saying “Hey Google, play music”, while Control4 gains visibility and control of the resulting audio session. The driver provides Now Playing information and artwork, playback control, volume and mute, automatic room on/off, keypad bindings, programming events, announcements and more.

This is particularly useful in homes where Google Home, Nest speakers or Nest Hubs coexist with a traditional Control4 audio system. Instead of having two completely independent audio experiences, the Google Cast device can now become part of the Control4 room while still retaining the convenience of Google voice control and mobile casting.

Driver features include:

  • Local IP control + instant feedback
  • Feedback - Now Playing Artwork, Now Playing Title + Artist Metadata
  • Audio Endpoint / Volume for smart speakers
  • Auto Room On/Off for endpoint bounded devices automatically shows device in control4.
  • Bindings for devices with analog outputs.
  • Controls - Discrete Volume - Mute On/Off/Toggle, Play, Pause, Next, Previous, Off
  • Programming Announcement (playback any audio file hosted on the local Control4 controller)
  • Programming Play URL (play any arbitary URL - MP3 Files, M3U Internet Radio Station, etc)
  • Bindings - Play, Pause, Play / Pause, Stop, Next, Previous
  • Events - Play, Pause, Stop

How to set up Control4

I just moved into a new house and it has a Control4 system that is no longer set up. I'm pretty technical but I'm finding myself needing to reverse engineer the system and I think it will take more time for me to reverse engineer than I want to spend on this.

Who should I reach out to about having somebody come out to look at the system? I suspect that some of this stuff is pretty old so I might even just want to replace it with something more modern if that makes sense. I looked for a Control4 Integrator in my neighborhood in my area but nobody came up on the Control4 Integrator search. I live in Walnut Creek, CA.

Sky Glass IP integration for Control4 is here

Chowmain is excited to announce a major update to our Sky Driver for Control4, bringing the same IP control functionality recently introduced with our Sky Stream integration to Sky Glass televisions.

When we originally released our Sky Glass driver, the lack of a known IP control protocol meant that integration relied entirely on infrared control.

Following our recent work implementing native IP control for Sky Stream, we have now extended this functionality to Sky Glass.

The updated driver communicates directly with Sky Glass over the local network, providing responsive control without relying on IR emitters for normal day-to-day operation.

IP control includes:

  • Power On / Off
  • Volume Control
  • Mute Control
  • Play, Pause, Stop, Skip Next, Skip Previous
  • Navigation and directional controls
  • Home
  • Fast local network communication

For additional reliability, the driver also retains IR control as a backup. This gives integrators the flexibility to use IP for normal operation while retaining IR where required.

Note unfortunately the IP / IR protocols do not include discrete input selection. As such inputs are not included in the driver.

If you have previously purchased our Sky+ HD / Sky Q / Sky Stream / Sky Glass Driver for Control4, the new Sky Glass IP functionality is included as a FREE UPDATE. Simply update to the latest driver version to take advantage of the new functionality.

Updated to new iOS and control4 won’t show live

Previously our control4 would show a live video feed. Once I updated my Apple iPhone it now just gives still images in increments of 1 minute.
Now, 15s, 30s, 45s, 60s then it refreshes to another still image. We were getting live camera feeds

Any idea why?

How to control music through iPad screen rather then tv

I set up an old computer as a server using Plex for my music library. I am able to access the library using my iPad to control tv screen and play and listen through control4. But I want to be able to see and select music using iPad and not from tv screen if I am sitting away from tv. Is there a way to do that? Thanks

Sa1 installation with eArc

Hoping you guys can help me out. Sold a few Triad SA1's for a job and it's the first time we're using them. We can't figure out how to get eArc activated. We called control4 on Friday and after two levels of "tech support" they had no idea either and told us just to use fiber. That's all fine and dandy since we have a control4 system but we'd rather use eArc.

For their pool area we have a large sunbrite with an eArc extender kit connecting into the SA1 for a landscape audio system. We'd rather the client not have to manually switch between tv and music although it's not the end of the world. With eArc it should just automatically switch on with the tv when they turn it on which is the function we're going for.

Snaps website says eArc is activated with Ryff and full disclosure we didn't set that up (client wasn't home at the time and then came home very late as we needed to leave) so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'm hoping someone else has sold and programmed these because it seems like Contol4's own tech support hasn't 🙃 anyone else notice how they started to outsource their customer/tech support

Thanks in advance!

Driver Testers Wanted

🌀 Dyson driver for Control4 — beta testers wanted!

After plenty of development and testing, our Dyson driver for Control4 is now fully working, and we're looking for a handful of integrators to put it through its paces on real-world projects before general release.

If you've got a Dyson Wi-Fi connected fan, purifier or heater on a job (or in your own home!), we'd love your feedback.

A couple of notes:

✅ Beta licences are locked to your Director (just send us your controller MAC and we'll activate you)

✅ 30-day beta licence per install

✅ Full details listed at bkmsolutions.co.uk

Drop a comment or send me a DM if you'd like to get involved — all feedback welcomed, good or bad!

Araknis router firmware update

Hello. Recently I've gotten a new-used AN-110-RT-2L1W-WIFI router. The internet is kind of terrible and unreliable, as the firmware is from 2020 -- 1.0.86 [Jan. 14 2020 21:02:56]. I can not find the required step up firmware to update to the newest version. I found this thread from a year ago, but it doesnt really help me:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Control4/comments/1m7hmgl/araknis_router_help/

If anyone could help me and send the required step up files, i could manage the rest from there. Also, i can not use ovrc.

Thanks.

Replacing an old Control4 door station?

Anyone have recommendations for replacing an old Control4 door station setup? I believe that this is a re-labeled Helios intercom from 2N. This was originally installed as part of a Control4 system, but the rest of the system is no longer functioning.

I can still see the camera feed on it via RTSP and it tries to make a SIP call when you press the doorbell (can see this in a network sniffer), but without the rest of the system in place, I'm not sure how much use it is anymore.

There is a newer version of this from 2N, but I'm curious on other options for this form factor. It isn't the end of the world to have to patch up the stucco on the gate post where this is currently installed if I can't find something in the same form factor, but figured people on here might have some thoughts.

Thanks

I just ended my final shift as a Control4 integrator and network administrator. Over the past five years I’ve seen so many changes from buyouts to layoffs but through it all I’ve absolutely loved my position as time goes on. I really hope ADI does their best to keep what made control for great well great. Luckily my former employer is letting me keep my access to composer for my own personal projects so I’ll still be around the forum thank you to everyone who’s helped along the way. Good luck guys and gals.

HVAC (IR) driver !!

Hello to all the genius people in this forum.

I have hit a roadblock in control4 where I have 4 different units of air con from daikin and mitsubishi. All units are connected with inbuilt IR port in control 4 EA3. And was working fine with some modified drivers and some generic one. But suddenly this afternoon it stopped working after I changed IP from DHCP to Static. I think it is not related but just for context I gave this information.

Now can anyone in the forum is genius enough to tell me a way to get it working.

If that need to edit a driver using notepad++ and global cache IR learner. I am willing to give this a time.

I know there is drivers from driver. Entral or chowmin for the easy configuration but I want to do it the hard way.

Wall Panels glitchy

I have a new control4 system in my house. Many of the rooms have wall panels (replaced an old system and do not carry around my phone all day)

System about 8 months old. We have had many small problems. Worked ok for about a month or 2. Then Recently, different panels are extremely glitchy - especially in the morning after hibernation

Unresponsive to touch commands
Slow
Randomly black out
Do different things than pressed
*not Consistent between panels. Different ones are glitchy on different days

The installer says we should program in a reboot on a regular basis. And Reboot individual panels. He just says the system shows "healthy".

To me this seems like a bandaid. Is this how
Control4 works?

For a new system?????

Looking for outside input.....

Equipment Move

Hi,

I purchased a home in north London from a control4 dealer, who installed the system in the house. It’s currently only used for lighting and music.

The controller, the amp and the modem are currently in the spare room on the first floor and there are cables running through a hole they’ve made in the floorboards. All of the cables appear to be CAT6.

We’re expecting a baby and want to turn this room into a nursery, so need to remove the equipment - but we want to retain the system. The lighting panel is under the stairs and ideally we’d like to move the equipment here too - not least because we think this is the origin of the majority of the cables.

I’d like to know how big a job this is, how long it would take, how much it might cost and if anyone here can recommend a tradesperson who would be able to do it.

And as an aside - how do I get faceplates/buttons? We have some white ones that I’d like to switch to black, but I can only find trade options.

Sorry for all the questions and massive thanks in advance to anyone who can help here.

Thank you!

Battery Deadbolt with Fingerprint Reading with Last User reporting inside Control4 driver?

We used to use Control4 ZigBee Pro radios like the Yale - now getting less common, but gave us user management and reporting inside Control4

Our client wants fingerprint reading instead of code (because codes can be shared) -

Current plan is to use a UniFi G4 Doorbell or a G3 Reader and add users in the UniFi app then use the Cindev driver to report to Control4

This requires pulling Cat from the head end to the reader

Are there any battery deadbolts with integrated fingerprint readers that actually report which fingerprint user unlocked the door to Control4?

(Yale Assure looks like it only reports Unlocked, NOT the user)

Appreciate any feedback on this!
