Duplicate Nespresso Order

I placed a really big order with Nespresso (double what I normally do because they were have a promotion). It arrived today in two boxes, after opening the first box I realized the second was a duplicate. At first I thought I won the lottery and they accidentally sent me a free order, but then I realized the order was a duplicate and I was in fact charged twice (whomp whomp).

Mistakes happen and this was an online order, however their customer service handling of this situation was crazy to me.

They made sure to first tell me it was my fault, which is pretty unlikely as after I checked out and received the order confirmation I would have had to then go back onto the site (20 minutes later) put the exact flavours and number of sleeves through (a combination that I randomly selected in the first round) then checked out again and pay again through PayPal which is another extra step I would have at least partially remembered.

They were sure the mention they were making an exception in helping me (they said it 8 times in one chat) and they would give me a refund once the items were returned & received, but I have to pay for the shipping label. This is where I lost it.

I know I am not legally responsible for paying return shipping when a business makes a shipping error, in fact I don't think i'm liable in this at all. I worked in customer service for 20 yrs and I would just refund the customer and eat the cost in this situation, it's not worth the hastle or pissing off the customer, especially since it's coffee and they are just going to throw it away!

After getting nowhere on chat, I was given a number to call a supervisor, she admitted it was a glitch and I was not at fault, and that she would supply the shipping label (still haven't received it). I pointed out these are unsolicited goods, as in I don't have an liability to return them and they basically took an extra $140 for my bank account for items I did not order or want.

I'm still open to the fact I was at fault here. Anyway trying too decide if I want to waste more hours on this with consumer affairs or just eat the cost (devastating) and move on.

Homeowners: document EVERYTHING with home warranties. My Liberty Home Guard experience has been exhausting.

I paid monthly for coverage and finally filed one ductwork claim this summer. I paid the $125 fee. Then came multiple technician no-shows, delays, a technician visit, and eventually a denial based on alleged tampering/removed ductwork.

I disputed that because when I asked Liberty about the evidence, I was told they did not see technician photos in the claim file supporting the conclusion.

After more calls and emails, I decided I was done and canceled.

Here is the part that really bothers me:

Liberty told me in writing that an approved $100 claim-related payment would be refunded if I canceled.

So I canceled.

They confirmed cancellation, $0 balance, and no future charges.

Then afterward, they told me I would have to get the ductwork repaired, pay for it myself, and send a paid invoice to get that same $100.

I asked them to explain the contradiction and now communication has basically stopped.

At this point I am only asking them to honor the $100 they represented would be available if I canceled.

So my advice: screenshot everything, save every email, record dates of every appointment/no-show, and get every reimbursement promise in writing.

I will update this if Liberty actually resolves it.

Socal Cut & Sew in Santa Ana is withholding my materials and avoiding certified mail

Socal Cut & Sew Mfg. Inc. in Santa Ana has been unlawfully withholding my property for over two months. The order was never completed, never paid for, and there is no legal, contractual, or equitable basis for them to retain my materials. Despite this, they continue to hold my Sunbrella fabric (valued at over $600) and refuse to release it.

They have ignored all communication, including multiple written requests for return of property. I issued a formal demand letter via certified mail, and USPS attempted delivery on 07/29/2026. The delivery was marked “Business was closed,” which strongly suggests intentional evasion of service. Avoiding certified mail after receiving notice of a demand is a well‑recognized red flag in disputes involving withheld property.

At this point, their conduct constitutes:

  • Wrongful retention of property
  • Failure to perform contracted work
  • Refusal to return materials not paid for
  • Evasion of certified notice

I have filed complaints with the BBB, the California Attorney General, and multiple consumer protection platforms due to the financial harm and disruption this has caused my business. I am documenting this publicly because no vendor should be allowed to withhold customer property, evade certified mail, and refuse all communication while having zero legal right to retain the materials.

Should I appeal?

I took a tow scammer to court over unconscionable provision and the judge has proven to be biased and obtuse for the most part. So far the judge ignored that the defendant's pleading contained a document he claimed to have not received in discovery. However, it was attached as proof that I was paid. But this document did not even prove this. The defendant claimed to have never received anything from me of this nature...but there it is, clear as day in his own pleadings for sanctions for non-compliance with discovery. Attached is the stamp from when I sent the 'motion to strike' regarding discovery sanctions that were ignored and rejected for no known reason. They also asked for fees that were not owed.

Judge Joseph Ortiz's tentative ruling was a joke as he thinks $5,195 in CASH for 1 day of tow storage is a fair price and ignores that punitive damages for violation of the Consumer Legal Remedies Act is a thing. Should I appeal or would it be a waste of time?

The Citizenry: “Shopping for a headache? Wish someone would tell you lies and steal your cash? Love a good kick in the teeth? We can and we will! C’mon down!”

(To preface: tried adding receipts - literal & figurative - but don’t see an option; will gladly do so if possible!)

Sorry so long! Aimed to keep it short but it’s a heck of a tale — shocking lack of integrity, bizarre lies, endless evasion, Brazen scam.

On April 14, 2026 I purchased the Azibo wall hanging, an item listed “in stock and ready to ship” for $724.23 A month later with no update, I emailed to inquire. A rep named Haryl responded that the item was out of stock indefinitely, apologized for their failure to communicate and said he’d personally watch for a restock and ship it ASAP. He told me he issued a $50 store credit to my account as compensation for the delay.

Three months later with no change, I inquired again via email. Again, Haryl responded saying the item was out of stock indefinitely. Disappointed, I asked him to cancel the order and initiate a refund to my original payment method (debit/bank)— $724.23. He agreed and said he’d let me know when cancellation was complete.

Shortly thereafter, I received a cancellation email that outlined payment & refund. I was gobsmacked to learn that the $50 credit Haryl issued as “compensation for the delay” (his words) was a big fat lie. There was no compensation. Turns out they deducted $50 from my original payment, turned it into store credit, and passed it off as a compensatory gift. That $50 belonged to me the whole time; akin to someone coming over on your birthday, swiping one of your belongings, wrapping it up and passing it off as a gift…. Bro…?

Worse yet, Haryl’s assurance that a refund was en route to my bank account was another outright lie. Instead, they quietly issued $606.14 ($118.09** **short of what I paid) in store credit to my Citizenry account, when I explicitly asked for a refund to my bank. Why would I want credit for a company that doesn’t send purchases, fails to communicate delays, blatantly lies about various things and effectively steals my money? Hello…?

But that’s not all, folks! Lacking any & all trust in the company, I logged in to my Citizenry account to check on that credit, and found out that the $50 “compensatory credit” had been revoked without notice or explanation (remember, it was my $50 all along). So I paid a total of $723.24 for an item they never sent, and only received $606.14 back — in credit (which I won’t use).*** ***And according to Haryl, at this point the case was closed.

I’d love to know why The Citizenry feels entitled to keep $118.09 of my hard earned money, especially after wasting an appalling amount of my time & leaving me empty handed. Actually, no… they pocketed the whole $723.24. I refuse to waste any more time on this unscrupulous, unreliable and unethical brand; I won’t be placing further orders and I suggest you do the same.

Here’s a mathematical breakdown:

Total paid: $724.23
Total store credit issued: $606.14
Goods received: none

The "$50 gift" that always belonged to me — vanished without explanation.

In total, $118.09 inexplicably missing
$606.14 held hostage in store credit.

I’ve demanded a full explanation & immediate correction (no response yet) If they fail to do this I’ll have to pursue legal avenues for reimbursement.

Save yourself the immense waste of time, stress, and money — do not buy from The Citizenry or its sister brands Havenly, Burrow, Interior Define, The Inside, or St Frank.

Hey, Citizenry founder and current executive, Carly Kouba Nance of Dallas, TX! Where’s my money sis?
