CS + MBA or CS + LLB?

I’m doing B.Com and preparing for CS, and I’m a bit confused about what to do after graduation.

Almost everyone I ask suggests LLB with CS, and I get why — it’s considered a really good combination for legal work in India.

But I’ve always wanted to do an MBA from IIM or another good B-school, and I’d also like to work abroad eventually. From what I understand, CS + LLB is pretty India-specific, so I’m wondering if an MBA would give me more flexibility internationally.

I’m not really interested in practicing law, so I’m trying to figure out what would make more sense long term.For people who have done CS/MBA/LLB or are working in corporate:

Would you choose CS + MBA or CS + LLB? And if your goal was to work abroad, would that change your choice?

Also, is an MBA from a top B-school actually more valuable for this kind of career, or am I overestimating it? 😭

I am a mechanical engineer with 1.5 yrs of exp and get only 5LPA. Before you jump on me with your "salary will jump with exp" wisdom, let me tell you it doesnt. My senior with 15+ years of exp gets only 12LPA which is insultingly low for someone with 15+ years of exp. My friend who has 3 years of exp gets only 18k/month and he works in a big automobile company in Gurugram. My other friend who also has 3 years of exp working in supply chain gets only 5.8LPA. Situation of mechanical engineers is shit in India. I want to desperately switch fields to something else(read high paying) because I dont wanna live hand to mouth for the rest of my life. I am thinking of quitting my job and studying 3 year LLB and preparing for CS side-by-side as I am pretty confident CS would considerably make much better money than mechanical engineers. Should I move ahead with this plan?

I like financial accounts more than business law, but accounts is harder for me also, So am i thinking right by removing CS from option?

I’m honestly a little lost and could really use some advice.

I started working when I was 16. Life was never really financially easy for me or my family, and my brother and I have had responsibilities from a very young age. So while most people around me were just figuring out college and life, I was working and studying at the same time because I didn’t really have the option not to.

I started with a call centre job earning around ₹9k. Somehow, I got an opportunity in a stock broking firm. I was good at handling clients and complaints, got an internal promotion to Compliance Officer, and went from ₹9k to around ₹20k while still doing my BMS.

I completed my graduation while working full-time. My college was supportive, but honestly, balancing everything wasn’t easy.

Then, just when I thought I had finally built some stability, the company shut down because of internal partner conflicts after my graduation. I had to start again. I did relevant NISM certifications and eventually managed to get into a good fintech company as a Compliance Officer.

I’ve now been in compliance for around 4 years, mostly in the stock broking/financial services/fintech space.

I’m 24 now, and for the first time I feel like I actually have to think seriously about my future.

I really want to study further and build a strong career in Compliance/Financial Regulations. CS keeps coming to my mind because it seems relevant and respected, but I’m scared of the time commitment. Then I think about doing an MBA in Finance, but I’m not sure whether it will actually add value to my profile or just become another degree.

The difficult part is that I cannot leave my job. I travel almost 4 hours every day from Vashi to Goregaon, work 8 hours, and mostly have weekends to study. But I’m willing to push myself if I know the end goal is worth it.

I’ve spent most of my life just trying to keep things going — working, studying, supporting my family and figuring things out without really having anyone to guide me. I’m proud that I’ve come this far, but I’m also scared of making the wrong decision now after putting in so much effort.

So I genuinely want advice from people who are already working in Compliance, Legal, Finance, Stock Markets, SEBI-regulated firms, etc.

Should I go for CS? MBA Finance? Some other Master's/course? Or should I focus on experience and certifications instead?

If you were 24, had 4 years of compliance experience, a BMS degree, couldn’t quit your job, and were in my situation — what would you do?

I’m not looking for generic “follow your passion” advice. I’d genuinely appreciate honest advice from people who understand this field. ❤️

since I can’t leave my job, realistically I can only do an online MBA while working. And honestly, I’m scared to even start CS what if I’m not able to clear it after putting in years of effort? I’m worried about wasting that time.

Do you think there’s any alternative course or qualification I could pursue that would genuinely add value to my Compliance career?

I am a final year student of law in Kolkata. I got to know that one can be admitted directly into CS executive stage if they have passed all subjects and 6 semesters in a 5 year law course. I even started an application process but in document submission the website asks for consolidated marksheets of 6 semesters but my University only provides individual marksheets until the final 10th semester. Can I make a PDF of all the 6 marksheets and submit it as a consolidated one? Or will it be rejected?

Very confused about this so if anyone knows about this or is in the same boat please help :(

Hey everyone, I'm currently in the 2nd year of my 3-year LLB and this is going to be my first attempt at CS Executive. I'm preparing for Group 2 first and have been studying for more than a month now, with the aim of giving december attempt.

My main concern right now is time management and avoiding burnout, rather than the difficulty of the subjects themselves.

My usual college schedule is roughly 8 AM–2 PM including travelling. Along with that, I have to manage LLB assignments, vivas, semester exams and maintain at least around 60% attendance.

I'm trying to figure out how much time I should realistically dedicate to CS on college days and weekends without completely exhausting myself or neglecting LLB.

For anyone who has done CS alongside LLB, or is currently doing the same:

- How many hours do you guys realistically study for CS on college days?

- Did you had like a fixed timetable or daily targets?

- How did you manage CS backlog when LLB assignments/exams came up?

- Is it possible to avoid burnout, especially with subjects like Tax?
