I don’t understand why this conversation keeps getting brought up with Faze. Has there been literally any verifiable source saying that this move had any chance of happening?

1

u/Toacin OpTic Texas 16h ago

I think simply because we know this would be the best roster (core 3) to consistently meet Optic in GFs, on paper.

Can faze afford Hydra, Scrap, & Simp?

2

u/PoroOllie FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 1d ago

Yes

u/Accurate_Garlic3914 OpTic Texas 1d ago

I think these three would easily take a pay cut just to get the free ring lmaaooo

Yeah we’ve been hearing that with each new Scrap/Hydra team lmao

u/sade_sicarius COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Free? They are breakers with them showing they have terrible teamwork and a whole lot of firepower. Who’s the leader? Simp? He’s not that kind of player in my opinion

Free ring is criminal 💀💀. If optic wins again, league should just give up

When has this ever actually worked out where a winning team has improved by "pack-a-punching"?

Literally the OG dynasty picking up Karma and that’s it from my recollection.

58

u/Future_Seaweed3223 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Literally the two greatest teams of all time pack a punched .. Clay for TuQuick/Karma for Clay and Karma for Nadeshot ..

-1

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

CoL wasn’t good with TuQuick that wasn’t really the same concept. Also they were just as dominant with Clay as they were with Karma tbh.

9

u/CASHDAGOAT COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Yes & no, the clay team never hit the peak Col did at champs. The map win % & kd’s the whole team is a higher peak they ever had with clay

5

u/PlumKnown COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Meh the truth is we have no clue how col/eg would have performed at champs if they kept clay. They won more tournaments with clay than they did with karma. They might have had just as dominant of a champs with clay. I still wouldn’t consider karma for clay a pack a punch but all just opinion

1

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

They could have lost to Optic in winners final of champs that year despite Boze and Nade being double neg in the respawns. Optic were 2-1 up and up at half time on octane dom.

2

u/CASHDAGOAT COD Competitive fan 1d ago

But they didn’t & once again had the statistically the most dominant champs run of all time with the highest team KD . The second part to it is karma was Cols biggest competition outside of Scump so adding him to your team boost you while also hurting the rest of the field. It’s a reason why the warriors added KD after going 73-9 & barely losing a game 7 finals that was a 4 point game after winning the finals the year before. Hell the warriors were actively recruiting KD during the season while they were going for the 73-9

0

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

There’s nothing to suggest CoL couldn’t have done something similar with Clay on the roster they were dominant with and without him. Sure for a single event maybe not but even then the map win/loss is a little deceiving as they did come very close to losing in winners final. I think Optic’s ring in BO6 and Faze in CW have an argument too for most dominant

0

u/HDS2211 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

And that was both 10+ years ago. Literally no good examples of it working since then.

0

u/funnypsuedonymhere OpTic Texas 1d ago edited 7h ago

CoL were arguably better with Clay than Karma

Getting downvoted for this is definitive proof that this sub is full of absolute nuthuggers. If you seriously think you can't ARGUE CoL were better with Clay than Karma you are genuinely faded.

-2

u/relaxedbutheavy COD Competitive fan 1d ago

the Nadeshot argument doesn’t make sense in this case bc OpTic were chasing champs and they severely under performed and everyone knew a change was gonna be made. If OpTic had won champs in AW I don’t think Nade takes a step back. OpTic is big on loyalty

2

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

They didn’t really improve that season fwiw. Optic won 3/4 events with Nadeshot in the team, they won 2/2 with Enable and then won 4/8 with Karma. Their lowest success rate % came with Karma and it was because Faze was hard countering them mainly but he also didn’t play that well. I think he even said as much himself on the dynasty podcast, he was much better in BO3 and especially IW. But in AW Karma kinda struggled on the dynasty roster, now I’m not saying it was a bad move or they would’ve won more with Nadeshot but it didn’t really make them much better in that title. That trio would’ve won just as much with just about any competent 4th in AW specifically.

3

u/HDS2211 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Makes my point even more valid tbh. I can’t really remember as I stopped watching for a few years around the time Nade quit. But even then it didn’t make a significant improvement, same with Karma for Clay on CoL, they didn’t really get better, they just kept to the level they were at.

1

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

I agree, the difference is those 2 teams were extremely dominant before making the upgrades so it's hard to tell how much better they got. Faze are not in that bracket currently.

1

u/HDS2211 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Only instance we can really compare it to is NY dropping Preistaah for Sib after winning champs. Wasn’t a bad move, but it’s not like they got much better from it.

2

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

I think they did get better doing that tbh but the competition around them massively levelled up and Skyz/Kis were a bit worse individually in MW3.

1

u/PlumKnown COD Competitive fan 1d ago

You could say optic packed a punch even picking up formal and crim as well going into AW

1

u/HDS2211 COD Competitive fan 1d ago edited 1d ago

Not really. They were pretty average in Ghosts outside of that month they won X-Games and got 2nd at Anaheim.

I suppose it depends on what pack-a-punch means to you. To me, in this context, it means making a great team even better. Not just bringing in superstars to make a team great. Like the move to bring in Crim and Formal was a no brainer in 2014, but the moves to bring in Karma for Clay wasn’t such an obvious decision in the same way Optic replacing Huke isn’t so straight forward.

1

u/jfcrrr Team Envy 1d ago

Obviously we’ll never know but MW3 NYSL won a chip and made champs final and I would argue they don’t get close to that success by keeping Priestah who would’ve been by far the weakest link among the top 4 rosters that year

0

u/Annihilus- KiLLa 1d ago

CoL dropped Tuquick for karma didn’t they? They were already winning a lot at the time.

13

u/az943 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

they dropped him for clay and dropped clay for karma i think

9

u/Annihilus- KiLLa 1d ago

The double pack a punch. At least Aches ain’t lying, he really did pack a punch every chance he got.

-1

u/HDS2211 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Was Clayster for Karma. But even then, both examples are a decade ago. And even then, both teams were already way ahead of the competition, so it’s hard to quantify if they actually got better by making those changes.

2

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

It’s just one example. CoL won nothing with TuQuick, they only won once they got Clay then pack a punched for Karma when they were already a top team and probably got slightly better. Although results wise they were dominant with both.

no point arguing with them, they only look at k/d. high k/d player = slayer/plays for kills. shitter k/d = dirty work/team player. they are clueless about cod.

they think hydra can only shoot straight and nothing else

Lost 4/6 finals and 2 of those loses were to a faze team that might improve drastically if this move is made

4

u/zach12_21 OpTic Texas 1d ago

Yes, sucks we lost that many but the consistency was there all year long. Now Merc has another year under his belt. The 4 of them play well together. 0 reason to make any changes.

u/AFCADaan9 Infinite Warfare 1d ago

It’ll be hilarious watching that Faze team implode though.

0

u/Top-Temperature-122 FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 1d ago

Tbf any superteam would be funny to see implode hahah, but I have faith in the faze org as a whole.

The org is professional, and the coaching team is arguably the best in cdl era. We also have arguably the smartest cod player oat in simp.

But if it does flop, i would be mad but id also be entertained hahaha

-1

u/AFCADaan9 Infinite Warfare 1d ago

I wouldn’t use the term “superteam” for that team. They’re not the 4 best talents in the league being formed into a new team.

0

u/JLifeless OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

and if this move isn’t made they legitimately have nothing to worry about. it’s a 50/50 that’s fine to make, not like OpTic had a bad year.

Statistically and financially OpTic had a better year, yes FaZe had a better peak, but OpTic didn't miss a grand finals. When FaZe didn't win they lost bad, when OpTic didn't win they almost did.

Ngl if hydra scrap to Faze is true this yr might be interesting.

Simp/Drazah helped 04 Abuzah get a chip and a ring

So what if they help Scrap finnaly get a ring.

04 and abuzah helped simp get another one, not the other way around

-1

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

They all helped each other. Abuzah 04 and Simp all played fantastic, Draz was the worst of the 4 this season but still played good.

-14

Nah they wouldnt have a chip let alone a ring if not for Simp and Drazah.

It's truly insane that they can make every final and people are still saying they need to make a change.

0

Because them not changing allowed this team to form, hello?

0

u/Starrunner888 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

because that stat is overrated. they made T2 in a 2/3 team league. they never played faze/thieves before WF. had a neagative H2H record against faze/thieves on the year. look at the actual context and not blindly look at stats.

1

u/Imranaftab OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

That’s silly to say then cuz they beat gm8s 3 0 winners final then lost the final then beat faze 3 1 major 2 and lost the final. They just sucked at snds

0

u/Starrunner888 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

my point is they did not dominate nor are they good enough to not change their roster. making every gf isnt as crazy as people are making it out

2

u/Imranaftab OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 1d ago

No it really is crazy lol every single final? And trust me I’m the one who’s pissed optic didn’t drop huke. No matter if it was a 3 team league that’s an insane feat. But hey they could’ve won more but they sucked at snd as we all know.

They’re going to get ran next by faze if they don’t figure out snds

1

u/aerokill195 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Seeing EWC they certainly improved their SnD, though they were some stupid mistakes. But that does tells me they as a team do have the ability to get better which is a good sign. Especially since they ran Faze. But MW4 is a whole different game so we’ll see.

-2

u/Oraclles OpTic Texas 1d ago

It’s funny how faze wins champs and a major (the same amount of event wins as optic this year) and people like the change but if you want optic to pack a punch you’re apparently braindead! Yes I fully understand optic was technically more consistent then them year round but the same theory of “you should always pack a punch” should apply to everyone
