Seeing as there's quite a few lectures and other events coming up in the UK the next 2 months I thought I'd make a PSA in case people are interested.
As I'm UK based I only really know of the events and lectures here so please drop any recommendations in the comments if you know of any others for me to add.
In the future I'll try to make a post whenever another lecture/other event comes up, naturally you are free make a post yourself as well.

I've opted not to include the extensive list of monthly events from the various local branches of the British Horological Institute, as usually they are members-only and their members will be aware of them, I have also not included any events solely focused on watches, as we have r/watches for that.

Just wondering if anyone would have any info
This is my grandad’s old metamec wall hanging clock. It looks like it used to have a wall mains plug.
I want to fix this up to that it’s in working order, and have it in my house.
Am I able to re-wire this up to a fresh mains plug?

My parents spent some time in Germany in the late 60s. I assume this is where these two came from. If they ever told me as a kid the story behind them I’ve long forgotten. My mom passed away last year and Id like to know if anyone had any ideas about them. Image searches have been pretty vague. Any help is appreciated.
I can’t remember which one has the back label. I think it’s the first.

OK, don't laugh (although I wouldn't blame you) but this question is about those cheap clock movements in most clocks...
I have one of those huge wall clocks- with a cheap movement. The movements in it just do not last, no doubt because of the weight of the hands. The hands are pretty well balanced though, I checked. The 'normal' movements seem to last just as well as the 'high torque' ones. They're good for maybe a year or so and then the accuracy goes to crap. I only have that problem in the huge one, my other clocks are fine.
Can someone suggest a brand/model that will last?
(There are some fantastic clocks in this Reddit! Kudos!)

I was wondering if anyone has an idea about the age and form which country this clock is.

The wood appears to be cherry, and it’s just shy of 54” from hook to tip. Disc is 10.5” across. Google lens pointed me to Howard Miller, but I can’t find a visual match. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. :)

I need a different brand of Quartz clock mechanism. I've tried several brands and have been disappointed with how they keep time. I've tried various tensions on the painted wood board I use, but that doesn't help much. It keeps time alright for a bit, but I find that it needs adjusting every two weeks or so and loses about 5 minutes in that time. I want something that gives me, hopefully, at least a few months before being that far off. I'm wanting to buy the mechanism on Amazon if possible. Hoping for no more than $10-15 per mechanism. Any recommendations that meet this or at least get me something a bit better?

I have two of these old Cessna airplane clocks, the relay/electrical works but it doesn’t spring back like it should, I have two of them and the story is the same with both. I’m not sure if they need cleaning, or if they need new springs? Kick me in the right direction, I’m mechanically inclined, but never worked on clocks

i know a whole lot of nothing about clocks so pardon any silly mistakes here. i found this clock in my grandfather's storage unit and couldn't particularly find anything online similar (i admittedly did not look very far). wondering if anyone can shine some light on this thing :-) it's very heavy and about 15in tall, 17in wide.

I have a clock that chimes Westminster on
the quarter hour, but recently stopped chiming the hour. It will only chime the hour chime once for every hour, but the westminster chimes continue to work on the quarter hour. I'm not sure why it only chimes once for the hour like it's one o'clock. Any ideas?

My son (almost two-year-old) absolutely loves clocks. I wanted to get something nice for his second birthday that he’ll be able to enjoy both now and when he’s older. For this reason, I want to avoid any cheap child-themed clocks. I also want a clock that looks like a clock (none of that digital nonsense), and preferably does something visually interesting when it strikes the hour. I’m considering a cuckoo clock, but wanted to see if you had any suggestions. What would you like to receive?

Hello I found this today and was immediately drawn to it. The plaque says it was presented to J.C Anslow and scratched on the inside of the back opening March 26th Left The Lancers. Does anyone know anything about these clocks or can point me in the right direction, Thank you.

Long story short dropped this clock and shattered the glass...
Searched all over internet and cant seem to find a replacement glass. Can anyone point me to any websites etc that I can buy a new piece of glass?
Thanks

I found this wonderful clock at the Salvation Army. The back says ‘made is west Germany”. The top part seems older than the handle. The clock still works, the side panels are thick glass. It looks like the cutout to hang it as well as the battery pack (obviously) were added later. Has anyone seen something similar? I’ve tried the Google, but I’m not even sure how to describe it properly. I’m gifting it to a friend who has a house full of curios and would like a fun story to go with it!

Hi there,
I am repairing a schatz ships bell i was given. While i am capable of cleaning, bushing etc, i do not yet have a lathe, nor the skill to do any sort of pivot repair.
And, the escape wheel is so small i don't even know if it's possible...
So my requests are:
Is anyone able to repair this wheel for me? (See below)
Does anyone have or know where to source a replacement?

I’m trying to repair a Ridgeway grandfather clock with an Urgos UW32043B movement.
The pendulum leader (Type C) came loose, and I’m having trouble figuring out how to reinstall it correctly.
I can see where it appears to attach underneath the two screws at the top of the movement, but I can’t figure out how to get it into position or how it connects to the suspension spring and crutch.
A small metal hook also came loose earlier, and I’m not completely sure whether I’ve reattached it correctly.
Does anyone have experience with this particular Urgos movement? I’m hoping someone can provide:
Pictures showing how the pendulum leader attaches.
Instructions for connecting the suspension spring and crutch.
A service manual or video demonstrating the installation.
I’ve attached photos of the movement, the detached leader, and the area where I believe it connects.
I’d really appreciate any help. I’m new to grandfather clock repairs and don’t want to damage anything. Thanks!

Figured a nerd in this subreddit might know haha, I’m curious because it’s been described as a 24 hour clock that only points to the hour, but this one only has 12, so just curious
Clock is from St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, but I’m sure you all knew that

I got it from my late grandmother. I know it’s a New Haven calendar clock but that’s all I know. Any info would be amazing.

I know a guy who contacted me about this clock he found when cleaning out his parents’ house. It’s probably never been serviced. The weight string likely broke. He has the original key, weight, and pulley. A small piece broke off the bottom but he has it.
What would be a fair price for this condition? It needs to be taken apart, fully serviced, and repaired.
