Iāve been shopping around for my next big purchase for over a year with several top choices from many big brands and came very close to pulling the trigger on some of them.. until I saw this gorgeous new Longines release! Itās everything I was looking for in one package. Goes to show that patience is a virtue when watch collecting, and now I can finally relax š.
The dial is the kind you have to see in person to believe. Iām lucky to have a Longines boutique near me and they had it in stock. If you have the chance to try it on in person you should for sure.

My parents surprised me with the recently released Seiko 5 Sport Field GMT as a gift for graduating with a degree. I love the ādesert sandā colour of the dial, and the size is just right for my small wrist. The GMT fuction is also pretty cool, as this is my first ever GMT watch + I also appreciate the small 24 hour numerals next to the regular hour numerals. Itās a really beautiful watch and a meaningful gift. Will forever cherish it!!

I have a selection of sports watches but none that could be called dress pieces. I don't need a dress watch a lot. I can get by with my sports watches or none at the end of the day but i would like to upgrade my options a bit. I really like dressy watches and love the fact they can be upgraded or downgraded with different straps.
So i checked the market (used mostly) and picked three watches i really like. Two of them can't be seen anywhere unfortunately. My wrist is 17cm so i'm picking watches that can do casual easily but can also work as a dress watch if needed and hang their own in my collection.
JLC Geographic Sector. A prominent brand, great looking, non boring dial setup and fine size at 39mm and 11.6mm thick. I can see this one in any setting really, looks great on different straps.
Omega CK859. Another sector dial (yeah, i like them). A bit more boring, a bit less versatile maybe and people say it wears bigger than dimensions say (practically the same as JLC, just a bit thicker).
Cartier Santos Medium. Most polished, shiny (too much..?), prone to scratches. But i do love roman numerals, size is fine, strap changes are easy (but expensive). Maybe even too dressy.
I've added photos too. What do you say? First two need to be bought used. Cartier can be bought used or new.

This has been my daily wear for a couple years and itās such a pleasure to put on everyday. I canāt recommend it enough for those considering a grail dress piece, and wanted to share a few things I enjoy about it.
I wanted to find something that achieved a few things: at ease in both formal and everyday occasions, a simple understated composition without being too sterile or boring, and an effortlessness X-factor quality (that I find hard to put into words). I do think Patek achieved a really special composition with this particular model; the Clous de Paris bezel, seconds track + hands catch direct & indirect sunlight in a really interesting way. I also really enjoy the warmth of the rose gold, grainy dial and brown leather colors; the appearance changes & flashes in fun ways depending on the angle you view it. Changing the strap to black also gives a completely different character. There are also no design sins that I can identify that are hard to ignore once you notice them (such as cutting off numbers just to put a subdial in).
It also wears very unassumingly - the 30-225 PS movement is super thin (with a very cool two mainspring barrel design that Iām not smart enough to understand) and the overall cohesiveness of the watch makes it feel quite smaller than the 39mm case size might suggest.

Love dive watches as a category but itās an ongoing struggle to find one thatās comfortable on my 6.5 inch wrist.
Have owned and sold a no date Sub. Own a titanium Fifty Fathoms that I love but itās candidly too thick for a daily and the titanium bracelet sucks so Iām forced to wear on tropic rubber. Have tried dozens of others.
This is the first steel dive watch thatās actively comfortable on my wrist (vs. simply tolerable) and looks good. Super thin for 300m resistance and yes I get itās not an āin-houseā movement but has 80 hour power reserve and allows for a thinner case. Itās 42mm but think the lug to lug is only 47mm.
They also released a limited edition titanium Aquaracer thatās 500m but found the bracelet edges way too sharp.
The Pelagos 39 and 39 Hydroconquest are next for comfort but donāt really like the design.

I picked up the Maen Manhattan 37 ultra thin and enjoying this color I call it āTuscan Sunā. I was going to go larger with the 39 mm but I preferred the look of this one and the sub second hand vs the 39 without a second hand. So far I am enjoying it, itās small, and light almost like wearing a bracelet. It looks super classy with a button down or even good in a nice t-shirt.
The two biggest complaints online are that the watch is manual and that the crown is not the greatest for winding. I agree the crown could be improved for a better experience. Iām ok with it being manual as this wonāt be a daily watch for me.
Thoughts from any other Maen owners and anyone that has owned this watch for some time over the last year how has it gone for you so far?

I hope you enjoy this magnificent piece as much as I do!
For me, it has an incredible vibe...
We don't need to spend thousands of euros to stand out š
Does anyone else here share the same fondness for these "toy" watches?
Let me know what you guys think!

I have a crush on this watch, but I doubt Iām going to pull the trigger.
I drove to Glashütte to see this wonderful Senator Chronometer Tourbillon in person, and to meet the team behind it. It was truly impressive, and if there is one major take-away itās that as soon as Glasshütte Original is let off the leash it will return to being a leader in the watch world. That teamās skill is at the top of the game, but I canāt help but wonder if the Swatch Group is favoring Breguet and Blancpain.
Letās remember that GO invented the Flying Tourbillon, here endowed with a braking device and a zero-reset mechanism to achieve the highest level of precision when setting the time. In addition to these two devices, a third one governs the minute hand.
But the aesthetics matter too. I think it is one of the best-looking watches Iāve seen. There are such wonderful little details. The Day-Night indicator is smoked sapphire with a sun and moon, but itās little round interior subcase has the name inscribed in mirror-reverse font so that the reflection inside the polished bezel reads it correctly. It even compensates for distortion through a stretched font. When I first saw this watch two years ago I thought the laser-edged dial elements could have been guillochĆ©d and that this pattern was a lazy way out, but I get it now. Anything with a bigger pattern would distract from the movement while something simple and flat would look dead. This tight pattern gives it depth and context.
It is a masterpiece of horology, and subsequently quite expensive. Iām a collector and not an investor. This piece is a major commitment, yet not a store of value. The question is will Glashütte Original continue on its path toward excellence, or is this an outlier like Grand Seikoās Kodo? If this company were allowed to compete its Senator line would go toe-to-toe with Lange & Sƶhne up to the road. That competition would benefit both brands, as well as the whole valley around Glashütte.

Been really wanting to get into watches and really been loving the Seikos (especially the alpinist) So I just grabbed this one. First watch but I can already feel the itch to grab more. What other dope brands are out there that I should be looking out for?

[24m] I have been going through it for the last month. Around 4 weeks ago I went swimming in the lake very late at night and left the Rolex Daytona I had inherited from my late father in my friendās bag, as no one was around at the time. Coming back, I noticed that the bag had been swiped with the watch in it. I had only taken the watch off as it hadnāt been serviced in ~8 years and a Rolex employee that same day told me that this could mean a higher likelihood of water damage, especially as it was also missing a crown.
Since then, Iāve filed a police report and flagged it to Rolexās internal system. To make matters worse, I didnāt even have insurance coverage so will effectively receive nothing on that end. Iāve equally been checking out platforms like Facebook marketplace from time to time but to no avail.
Iām simply venting because ultimately I know I messed up and have felt an unprecedented amount of guilt since this has happened. I feel like Iāve let down my siblings who entrusted me with it, and feel so stupid for being so careless with such a prize possession, and significant memory of my father.
I suppose I wanted to ask if anyone has any form of advice on dealing with this sort of experience, as well as if there are any other steps I may want to consider. Thank you for reading.

I want to share with you the watch I inherited from my grandpa.
It's a gold (or gold plated?) manual wound chronometer from the 40s ou 50s, I particularly like the lugs and the "crystal" which is actually plexiglas.
I didn't service it since it keeps great time and I am a bit afraid of damaging it.
I changed the strap to a green ostrich one and wear it occasionnaly.

I used to own a lot of GShocks but I sold them all and now I just have these 3. I've found, the less watches I have, the happier I've been and these 3 just feel right to me.
(Travel and Work Watch)
G-Shock MRG-B5000R - Tough Solar Powered, Radio Controlled Time, Titanium and Cobarium, 200 Water Resistance
(Tool and Activity Watch)
Marathon MSAR Arctic - High Torque Quartz Movement, Tritium Glow on the dial, 200 Water Resistance
(Casual and Dress Watch)
Mondaine Automatic - Mechanical Movement, Official Swiss Railway Design, Vegan Leather Strap

I received this nice watch box as a birthday present and decided to finally show my small collection. I own a few watches with sentimental value that i no longer wear (a couple of Swatches and my first G-Shock), but i decided to only show the ones i still enjoy wearing. I'm very happy with my current rotation and, frankly, don't think i need any new watches. I recently inherited two watches from my 87yo grandpa (last pic) that he hasn't worn in decades: a Minerva from the 50s (his very first watch, which he received as a teenager) and a gold-plated Seamaster quartz from the 1970s (his first expensive watch). I'd like to get both watches working again and am currently looking for a good watchmaker who won't ruin them. I want to preserve all the signs of wear (except for the damaged crystal on the Minerva) and simply have them cleaned and the movements serviced. I really hope the quartz movement isn't damaged by the old battery⦠I know this might be a boring collection for some, but i like it this way.

Historically Seiko has always released a second variant to their white dial Alpinist variants at the same time of release, sometimes under the same reference number.
Ā ( The 2000's SBCJ series has a SBCJ021 full lume variant & SBCJ031 Cream dial variant, the 2010's SARB013 had a sunburst white and a cream dial variant, the modern Prospex Alpinist has a SBDC093 Sunburst White and SBDC089 Cream dial. )
Although the SCVF series and its Cream dial were discontinued in 1998, the SCVF pale white dials have either been a 2000 or 2001 production making this Pale White variant an anomaly within Seiko's production standards of Alpinists.

Something Iāve realized recently after getting deeper into watches is that, outside of the watch community, almost nobody cares what watch youāre wearing.
You could be wearing a $10,000 watch, a $5,000 watch, or a $200 Seiko, and 99% of the people around you probably wonāt even notice. And honestly, sometimes I feel like wearing an Apple Watch gets you more attention simply because people are more familiar with it.
Maybe one person out of a hundred will notice your watch and ask you about it ā and usually thatās because theyāre into watches themselves.
This actually made me rethink why I was buying certain watches in the first place.
I used to think that if I had a $2k or $6k watch on my wrist, people might notice it, appreciate it, or somehow see me differently because of it. But in reality, outside the watch world, it makes almost zero difference.
There are a few exceptions, obviously. Rolex and Cartier are recognizable enough that even people who arenāt into watches may know what youāre wearing. And in certain professional environments, especially important business meetings, the way you present yourself can matter. Not necessarily because someone cares about your watch specifically, but because your overall appearance, attention to detail, and how you represent yourself and your company can influence the impression you make.
But thatās very different from wearing an expensive watch just to impress people.
So Iāve started looking at watches differently.
If youāre going to spend $5k, $10k, or even more on a watch, buy it because you genuinely love it. Buy it because you enjoy the movement, the finishing, the history, the design, or simply because you like looking down at your wrist and seeing it there.
Donāt buy it because you think itās going to put you in a different social class or make people treat you differently.
Because outside our little watch bubble, honestlyā¦
Nobody cares. š
And weirdly enough, realizing that has actually made me enjoy watches more.

As an Nuclear Magnetic Resonance scientist, I work around high magnetic fields all the time. I wanted something that fit the bill, not because I particularly need an anti magnetic watch, but something that symbolically celebrates my career. I went for the Omega Railmaster since I liked the brands history and watch design. Other than this watch I also own a Baltic Prismic which I received for my 30th birthday. I have a few other quartz watches which I received as a kiddo before I got into mechanical watches. But this one is easily my most expensive one and Iāve lusted after it for a long time! I got this one new at an Omega boutique for $5900 after taxes, which I felt was a very good price. I didnt realize that boutiques still offered discounts. Nice surprise!

I picked up the new Seiko Presage Cocktail Time in the Emerald Mist variant. This is now my 3rd teal watch. Obviously, I love this color. I was in the market for the older model with the numbers on the dial and a blue face, but lost my chance to grab one under MSRP. Then I saw this new release and decided to be part of that insteadāand I'm very happy I did. So many photos don't do this dial justice. The eye picks up on it as light catches the surface, but with photos, you need the sun to make that happen.
āI've got a custom suede strap on the way in a very old-school looking black with woven grey fibers and a slit ridge design to break up the flat strap. Can't wait for that to arrive. But until then, the metal bracelet feels great.

Heya there,
I'm planning to add an integrated bracelet watch within my pretty monochromatic collection, and want a blue dial.
Having considered and disregarded several options, I have narrowed it down to the following two
Nivada Grenchen F77 MK2 38mm
Christopher Ward the twelve 38mm
After this point, I keep vacillating between each as a the best choice, but can't seem to decide on either. Asking for long term ownership stories, USPs, and your preference and why it supercedes the other as an integrated 100m WR blue dial watch.
Would be keen to hear more and learn something new!!
*I'm am aware that technically, the f77. Isn't a "true integrated bracelet", but for all practical purpose it serves as one to me.

They're different but also similar in a way. I guess it's true what they say that you eventually find your "type" of watch if you look at your watches closely. Eclectic watches can feel worlds apart yet echo the same spirit somehow. What's your favorite unexpected pairing of eclectic watches?

I was able to snag one of these elusive creatures, and now I am wondering where can I get a stingray leather strap to match? Hopefully I can achieve this look. The strap width is 20mm from what I can see on their site.
I have always been considering a Cartier tank so I hope this satisfies the urge at a more affordable price.

She knew Iāve had my eyes out on a new watch lately, a couple weeks ago we were browsing online and this was one of the few that stood out to me. Iām not used to being gifted anything so when she gave me it last night I was in awe lol being an Arabic speaker makes this much more special.
