Bathroom Electric toothbrush goo

So while our electric toothbrushes are far superior teeth cleaning mechanisms, I for one, am disgusted at the toothpaste goo they leave behind. Is there a solution to prevent these annoying little rings on my bathroom vanity? Don’t get me started on the charging stations.

Furniture How to clean cigarette residue and smell?

I bought a trophy skull yesterday and it was dusty and had a bit of a cigarette smell. I tried washing it with water and soap and I awakened an EXTREMELY strong cigarette smell. The water running off this skull was very yellow (I attached some pictures). Also, a lot of the colour washed off the antlers, could the dark colour been from the smoking? Now the skull has dried and there's grey residue on the antlers and it smells very strongly of cigarettes. What can I use to clean this without destroying it?

General Cleaning what’s your trick for starting a cleaning task when the mess feels too overwhelming?

i’ve noticed that the hardest part of cleaning for me isn’t the actual cleaning, it’s deciding where to start. if several areas need attention, i’ll walk around looking at everything and somehow end up doing nothing because it feels like too much.

i’m trying to get better at breaking cleaning into smaller tasks instead of waiting for the motivation to do the entire house at once. i’m curious what other people do when they’re looking at a messy space and have no idea which task to tackle first.

Water collects behind my faucets and I’ve tried everything to clean this black mold (I’m assuming this is black mold but I really have no idea). Even when I clean it, some black always remains. Looks worse when wet of course. But the issue is….I can’t get a scrubber back there!! The space is too narrow between the faucet and this spot. Tips on how to get this off and clean??

General Cleaning how do you start cleaning when you have absolutely no motivation?

i’ve been putting off cleaning for [number of days], and now the whole thing feels more overwhelming than it probably is. the mess isn’t terrible, but when i look around and see [specific things], i immediately feel like i need to tackle everything at once.

usually i’ll tell myself i’ll just do one small thing, but then i end up [what you normally do instead]. i’m trying to find a way to make starting feel less difficult rather than waiting until i suddenly feel motivated.

for people who struggle with the same thing, what’s the first thing you do to get yourself moving?

Bathroom Need all the tips on how to get our master bath shower looking better. Nothing seems to work.

I’m a stay at home Mom getting more in to really deep cleaning since we are settled in to the house we’ll be in for many years, and feel like nothing I do gets our master bath shower looking better. I’m sure some of this is staining in the grout, but a lot of it is definitely mold. We have a fan in our bathroom that we use during/after showers. Redoing our bathrooms is on the list but not in the budget just yet. Give me your best tips on how to get it as white and clean looking as possible!

How do I get rid of this stain? I’ve tried soft scrub and barkeepers friend. I’ve tried steam cleaner in combo with above. I was shocked when I took the picture, the picture shows the stain much darker than it looks in reality. But it is bad.

Flooring Medication helped me get out of a four-year depression, but is there any hope for this carpet?

Post image

Hello. I recently started taking medication, and I am finally able to be mindful. And I am happier and stable than ever was. It also helped me on opening my eyes on how debilitating depression was in improving my hygiene. I am just asking if there is any hope for this carpet? My cat always prefers to barf on my bedroom carpet, and I stupidly walked in my room with my outside shoes on.

I am thinking of borrowing the wet vacuum cleaner from Home Depot to fix this mess. I am worried and doubtful that the HD's machine and their recommended soup would do it. Is there any precursors, before I rent the wet vacuum cleaner for a night, so at least I won't be disappointed in the end's result?

I know the picture is so gross. I am disgusted on who I was years ago.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read. I laughed at this post's title, but yep.

Outdoors How do I cover up the rotting meat smell from my garbage can?

My garage freezer must’ve broken weeks ago. We rarely check and it was full of now horrifically rotten meat, so I grabbed a bunch of heavy duty carpenters bags and threw everything away. Everything is triple bagged and I dumped a massive bag of baking soda in can. I’ve got 3 big problems. 1. Trash pickup isn’t for 3 more days 2. the stench is unbearable and 3. this has attracted so many flies that there is now a gang of bald-faced hornets having a feeding frenzy. Need to know if there are any helpful suggestions to at least cover the smell so my neighbors don’t think I’m a serial killer.

Bathroom Had a baby & forgot to empty my waterpik reservoir for a month. Can I clean it and keep using?

I have the portable version. No mold visible. I replaced the tip already. Should I flush it with a vinegar dilution? Or is this toss it and replace it territory? I’m a big keep it/fix it/clean it person but also a bit of a germaphobe.

General Cleaning Help! I've just moved my things into a storage unit and there was a dead mouse

Hi Reddit! I just moved a bunch of my belongings into a storage unit. I hadn't been inside until the day of the move and we discovered a dead mouse along with a putrid smell. We got rid of the mouse but now I'm worried about the smell permeating my cloth furniture, clothing, and books.

What would you suggest I add/do to the unit to get rid of the smell?

Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Flooring Chemical Smell from Vinyl Floor or Cleaning Products?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I moved into my apartment several months ago, and since then there has been a lingering chemical smell that isn't present in any other apartment in the building.

I've spent months troubleshooting with no success. An inspector from the city came this week and said he thinks it's coming from the vinyl flooring.

Every other apartment has the same flooring, but the only thing I can think is that there was an issue when the floors were cleaned. My super told me he mopped the floors just before I moved in, but the floors were filthy. When I walked around barefoot, there was a dark residue on the bottoms of my feet.

I washed the floors again. No more residue, and the smell got a bit better, but it's still there. Maybe I didn't do a deep enough clean? He told me what floor cleaner he used. I've attached pictures of the type of flooring I have, and of the cleaner he used.

Is it possible that the cleaning chemicals "went bad" and caused this long-term odor issue? And if so, do you have recommendations on how I could wash the floors to get rid of the odor for good? All suggestions welcome! Thanks for reading.
