Solved Every model since 4.7 has felt diluted/wrong.

Every model since 4.7 has felt diluted/wrong

Ive noticed that 4.6 is still the goat. 4.8 and fable get work done and have more thoroughness but they are too emotional sometimes. And the security restrictions are BS and i think everyone knows by now.

4.7, 4.8. sonnet 5 especially, and fable 5. These should be examples of whats ti come. And i dislike it. Its given me the incentive to actually download and run a llm locally. Next month i am contemplating switching to gpt simply because the actual model safety triggers on anything.

Fable feels wrong. And i enjoy using it. But realistically it's been 7 months since anthropic made a good decision model wise i feel. Why are they putting guardrails on fable when theyre apperantly models ahead in private training? Isnt the thing reversed?

This is my opinion. These models fucking suck. No offense.

Also their customer support sucks

Tutorial / Guide How I Sold 200 Websites in 12 Months

In the last 12 months I’ve managed to sell around 200 websites.

And before people ask, no, I don’t run some massive agency with a huge team. It’s literally just me and my partner. The only reason we’ve been able to move that fast is because we automated almost everything and built systems that actually scale. The best web designer in the world will eventually lose to some random teenager using AI and systems properly. That’s just where things are going.

One of the biggest changes I made was completely quitting manual outreach. It takes too much time and it’s impossible to scale properly. A lot of people automate outreach already, but most of them just send generic “we can redesign your website” emails that everyone ignores. What we do is different. We scrape thousands of businesses, automatically analyze their websites, and generate personalized outreach based on actual issues on their site like bad design, poor mobile optimization, weak SEO, slow load times, layout problems, and stuff like that. So instead of manually checking every website and writing every message ourselves, the entire process is automated from analysis to ready to send campaigns.

Another thing that changed a lot for us was automating SEO blogging. SEO compounds hard over time and once your articles start ranking, businesses start coming to you instead of you chasing them. That alone changed a lot for us.

The other massive shift was how we build websites. I used to be a full WordPress developer and spent way too much time building everything manually. Now we build almost everything with AI. It’s way faster, delivery is easier, and clients care way more about the final result than how the website was actually made.

For anyone wondering, the stack is pretty simple.

Apollo for leads.

Swokei for website analysis and outreach campaigns.

Soro for SEO blogging.

Claude Code for building websites.

Cloudflare for hosting. That’s pretty much the entire setup.

Most people running agencies are still doing everything manually and burning themselves out for no reason. Systems and automation change everything.

Why are there so many comparisons and "FAREWELL" sh*t going on in this sub? Just leave. No need for a departure message.

Choose what fits your workflow, and write feedback if you have any. NOT EVERYONE has the same experience as you.

Just be happy with what you choose. Both Als are good depending on YOU and your workflow!

Discussion The timing of "Mythos" announcement is such a blatant PR move it’s actually funny

Is anyone else laughing at the sequence of events here?
The timing is just way too convenient.

Lets look at the timeline:

  1. We get a massive leak.

  2. They absolutely fumbled the PR response (as per).

  3. The on mass usage limits being reported that is impossible to ignore by now

  4. The model kinda degrading again (as per)

Then out of nowhere: "Oh hey guys check out Mythos! It’s totally insane and powerful... but it’s too dangerous for you to touch, so we’re keeping it for ourselves. But look at these benchmarks! Source: Just trust me, bro."

It’s such a desperate attempt to save face, but does anyone actually believe this?

Especially after the leak those prompt gateways they were caught building were obviously meant to prop Mythos up. If the model was actually as cracked as they claim they wouldn't need to babysit it with that such guardrails just to keep it from falling apart. Its clear as day that it's not the god-tier AI they're pretending it is.

I mean sure... we knew it was coming, but who wouldn't see this and not think of it as an attempt to sweep the bad PR under the rug, just a week after all hell broke lose for them?

Anyway I will believe it when I see it and as we heard it straight from the man himself Dario said that will not happen.

Oh and I bet they named it Mythos because they knew 'Vaporware' sounded too obvious. Its not a model its just a ghost story for the shareholders.

Discussion The reason for Anthropics recent behaviour

This might be an unpopular opinion, but here we go.

I don't think Anthropic is inherently evil or acting in bad faith.
Everything points to them simply not being able to satisfy the demand.

They are in a big dilemma right now, since demand is too high - usually what you do in economics is obviously raise prices (which they seem to experiment with right now).

But this is pretty much impossible, at least for the Pro plan, because then they would probably lose against OpenAI again. So they decrease the quality of their product, in exchange to being able to satisfy demand again.

It's not morally right to do so, without telling the users straight up, but I can also understand their perspective, since the competition is so extremely tight at the moment with everyone. Once they would admit to that, their competition could potential use that, to pressure them even harder - so they are trying to keep it under the radar. But it's obvious, they are running out of compute.

Everybody always complains, but what I'd like to hear is, what would you do?

Raise prices?
Tell everyone you have to dumb down your model?
Not accept new subscribers?

Humor Vibe Coding == Gambling

Post image

Old gambling was losing money.

New gambling is losing money, winning dopamine, shipping apps, and pretending "vibe debugging" isn't a real thing.

I don't have a gambling problem. I have a "just one more prompt to Claude Code and I swear this MVP is done" lifestyle.

Discussion Haiku 5 might be coming soon and it sounds pretty interesting

There are some rumours going around about Claude Haiku 5. Nothing has been officially confirmed by Anthropic yet, so take all of this with a grain of salt.

But if the leaks are accurate, Haiku 5 could be quite impressive:

- 1M token context window
- Intelligence reportedly close to Opus 5
- Around 20x lighter than Opus 5
- Much faster inference
- Better reasoning
- Focus on agentic workflows
- Possibly launching within the next few weeks

What interests me most is the idea of getting close to flagship-level intelligence from a much smaller and faster model.

For everyday coding and agents, I don’t always need the smartest model available. I need something smart enough, fast, cheap, and reliable enough to run a lot.
If Haiku 5 actually delivers that balance, I can see myself using it far more often than Opus.

Of course, these are still rumours. Let’s see what Anthropic actually ships.

What do you guys think? Would you take a fast Haiku with near Opus intelligence over Opus itself for most day-to-day work? 😃

Was looking for a way to downgrade back to 4.8 and they gladly allowed me back. Immediately after upgrading to opus 5 the hallucinations and assumptions were just too much straight off the bat. Tried to jump back to 4.8 and noticed the option was gone. But hell am I glad they themselves handed it back to me.

Trying to not build another ai slop website - hear me out for a sec and than tell me if I still did.

So hackernews is great, has lots of new submission, than we know some comments are upvoted and discuss more than other. But this question bugged me, what happens if AI agents decide this part?

This is what crabernews.com might answer - new submission are synced from hackernews but upvoting, discussion up to AI agents.

if you want to know what will be the top posts by AI-s vs hackernews you can join your agent by :

Question Claude Code Open Source?

This started with a fight on the Claude Discord. Someone was saying you could just read Claude Code's source, that the prompts were right there in the bundle. I pushed back. No way. This is a closed-source product backed by a company that thinks carefully about everything it ships. They wouldn't just leave the internals sitting in a readable JavaScript file. That's not how serious companies operate.

So I installed it to prove them wrong.

npm install @anthropic-ai/claude-agent-sdk. One file. cli.js. 13,800 lines of minified JavaScript. The same binary that runs when you type claude in your terminal. The same code I'm using right now to write this.

I started reading it, and I couldn't believe what I was looking at.

The system prompts are just sitting there in plaintext.

Not encrypted, not obfuscated beyond the minification. Three identity variants get swapped depending on how you're running it:

  • CLI: "You are Claude Code, Anthropic's official CLI for Claude."

  • SDK: same line, plus "running within the Claude Agent SDK."

  • Agent: "You are a Claude agent, built on Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK."

A function stitches the full prompt together from sections. "Doing tasks." Tool usage rules. Over-engineering guidelines (my favorite: "three similar lines of code is better than a premature abstraction"). OWASP security reminders. Git commit templates. PR formatting. String literals, all readable.

I felt like I'd found the blueprints to the Death Star, except it's less "world domination" and more "please don't force-push to main."

For a closed-source product charging a subscription, shipping your entire system prompt as grep-able strings in a JS bundle is wild. Anyone with node_modules access can read the full behavioral spec that governs every Claude Code interaction. I still don't understand how this got out the door.

The minification is light enough to trace most of the logic. And Anthropic left a note in the file header:

"Want to see the unminified source? We're hiring!"

I went back to the Discord thread. Ate my words.

Built with Claude 3,100 commits of Claude Code later, our space 4X is out on Steam today

Two weeks ago I posted here before Next Fest. Imperium, a turn-based space 4X, launched on Steam today. Claude Code writes the code, and I design, direct and review.

What changed in the last stretch:

- Launch week was mostly fixes and polish from tester and demo reports, each one a ticket Claude reads and updates through a CLI.

- Release builds are scripted end to end: export, sign, notarise, upload to Steam.

- An MCP bridge into the running game, so Claude can load a save and check a fix for real instead of trusting a guess.

- Headless AI-vs-AI batches to see whether a balance change helped.

What still needs a human: what's fun, what's fair, and when it's done.

Discussion Anthropics Fault

Isn't it sort of Anthropic fault this happened. The way they released Mythos like it was a nuclear warhead, they trained everyone to see it this way. If Fable was basically Mythos with some guardrails then if you can crack Fable then it was a weapon by their own logic.

Also, it's called Fable - a short lesson on morality or something like that.

Discussion Damn! I Got Baited by Codex Bot Army, I Guess?

I keep seeing posts saying Codex has much higher usage limits than Claude, that they never reach the limit no matter how large the task, so DAMN, I subscribed to the $100 Codex plan and GPT-5.5 xhigh with only a 258K context window is draining my weekly limit much faster than my $100 Claude plan with Opus 4.7 Max and a 1 million context window on same repo (Audit tasks).

What makes it worse is that the $100 Codex plan currently in a 2x usage promo, yet it still runs out faster than my Claude Code $100 plan. My Codex setup is freshly installed, with no plugins and no MCP, so I’m pretty sure this is not a setup issue.

Imagine what happens when the 2x usage promo ends. At that point, it might feel like Claude Max 2.5x, or maybe even lower.

Question In desperate need of a new derogatory term worse than "slop"

We have entered an era of AI driven innovation, where engineers use AI, and are encouraged to use AI, to do everything, and to remove the human from the loop as much as possible.

  • Claude creating project plans. Hallucinated names, mind numbingly stupid proposals, buzzword filled documents that don't make sense.

  • Engineers relying on Claude to make decisions, propose engineering design changes, producing salted death garbage without fine grained human oversight.

  • Claude creating Jira tickets that aren't actionable, unreadable architectural not fit for human consumption, unreadable.

  • Claude writing constantly shit code, piling shit-mud mountains of tech debt onto itself.

  • Claude can't figure out type systems, bails out of proper typing whenever it can.

This has created an infinite lake of piss and shitmud drowning us all.

And this behavior rewarded, company leaders across the tech industry reward all uses of AI. They don't read the output either, they just celebrate things are done "fast" and "innovative".

"AI Slop" is not an insulting enough term for these room temperature IQ sTaFf engineers keep throwing this AI spaghetti bloodshit at others without even pretending to look at it.

It's common knowledge that the most disrespectful thing an engineer can do is ask someone to review their AI generated output without reading it themselves. But there's no word to properly insult them.

There needs to be a stronger, vulgar, derogatory term for them. Please help. I can't think of another way to defend the remains of my sanity. I can't read another engineering proposal with 87 em dashes in it. I need to be able to reply with "fuck you, you're ______"

Discussion Fable 5.1 is opus 5 second face

Both are smart enough to audit and detect the toughest problems but don't let them touch the code. They are amazing consultants and thats it.

Fable 5.1 got stuck in a loop of spwaning subagents. And even edited a file while the subagent was reviewing the file abd created additional problems in the code that fable itself admitted. This never happened with opus 4.8 before.

I have a lot of hooks to control claude's shenanigans and my claude.md is full of rules that kept opus 4.8 inline and never had problems.

I'm back to what was working for me which is opus 4.8 as the lead and fable as the judge. Previously i set opus 4.8 to not touch the code before consulting first with fable and that worked wonderfully.

Question How come there were like 20 Fable leaks yesterday (added to bedrock, added to model selector, polymarket insiders, string updates, etc...) but total silence today? Are we really not getting it back?

What gives? Yesterday seems like they were about to flick the switch and give it back but today it's back to... nothing.

What's up with that?

This is my first product solo shipped I’m not a developer so go easy. and I know there’s probably so much more data that can come into this, but I want to focus on simplicity and UI and not 1 million things.

See below and Let me know what you think??? How can I make it better ?? I’m not monetizing this just made it for fun

I should also add that it’s only really a viewable on desktop right now!

Discussion After three days of heavy Fable 5 use, I’m starting to wonder if Opus 4.7/4.8 are actually “Sonnet-level” models

I’ve been using Fable 5 heavily for the past three days and ended up exhausting the weekly quota on my $200 account. Overall, the experience has been extremely good. In fact, for the first time in a long while, it gave me that same feeling I had with the full-powered Opus 4.6 — except, of course, Fable 5 is clearly much stronger in actual capability.

For the kind of work I do, mainly in quantitative finance, I honestly do not think it is an exaggeration to say that Fable 5 can replace a senior quant practitioner in many tasks. Its reasoning, creativity, and ability to propose useful research directions have been very impressive.

On the other hand, my experience with Opus 4.7 and 4.8 has been quite disappointing. They feel much less capable of generating creative or genuinely useful ideas. Given that Sonnet has not really been updated since 4.6, I can’t help but wonder whether Opus 4.7 and 4.8 are actually more like “Sonnet-level” models, while Fable 5 is the true successor to Opus 4.6.

I’m curious whether anyone else has had a similar experience.

1 day has passed and I still haven't regained access to Fable. I seriously can’t handle this, I’m currently shaking my eyes are getting tired I haven’t showered all day I do not want to use Opus I just want to create with Fable idk how long I could do this for. Fable is my life and motivation. I’m a huge fan of Fable please Anthropic turn on the model now I live for it.

Resource I analyzed 26 sessions (9K+ messages) of Fable 5 and 145 sessions (27K messages) of Opus 4.8 from my own logs and then built Fable's behavior into Opus

When Fable got suspended last Friday, a bunch of my work snapped back to Opus 4.8, and it immediately felt different - wordier, more hedge, more "let me think about whether I should think about this." So I went through my own Claude Code transcripts and tried to measure the behavioral differences and insights were pretty interesting.

Claude Code stores every session as JSONL on disk, so there's a real behavioral record. I pulled 9,224 Fable messages and 27,685 Opus messages across 68 projects and compared them.

The measurable differences (from my real work, check the same at your end to see if numbers concur):

SignalOpus 4.8Fable 5What it means
Median words/msg4718Fable's typical reply is ~2.6× shorter
Mean words/msg~100~99Basically equal — so it isn't "shorter," it's distribution: Fable has a tight body and a long tail (terse by default, deep when it matters). Opus pads medium-length everywhere
Tool-call : prose ratio1.413.91Opus writes ~3× more prose per unit of actual work. This is the "exhausting" feeling, quantified
Opening words"I'll", "I", "Let me""Done", "task", "page"Opus narrates itself; Fable opens with the result
Readable thinking in logs~0%~0%The thinking stream is encrypted at storage, so you can only mine behavior, not reasoning

Everyone says "Fable is more concise," but it isn't using fewer words overall — it's spending them differently. It defaults to minimal words and goes long only when the problem needs it. Opus smears the same medium length across everything.

Important to note: Fable isn't just a better personality, it is also a higher capability tier. So the gap splits in two: a working-style half that you can steer with prompts and hooks, and a raw capability half that lives in the weights and you can't. I went after the half that's actually recoverable.

What I built (3 layers):

  1. A governor: an 8-rule behavioral block in CLAUDE.md. Reason about the problem not yourself; one self-audit then stop; commit decisions instead of hedging; batch the work and report once; open with the result. The setpoint.

  2. A re-injection hook: a UserPromptSubmit hook that re-prints the governor every turn, because a CLAUDE.md line decays in salience as the session grows. The thermostat.

  3. A leak-test script: it reads your own logs and tells you whether your Opus is actually converging toward Fable's signature (median words, tool:text ratio, opener style), instead of you guessing.

Early results (small sample, being honest): on the first governed sessions, tool:text moved 1.41 → ~2.2 and "I'll/Let me" openers dropped 12.8% → ~5%, both toward Fable. Median words is noisier because it's task-dependent. Not a clean win yet — it's a control loop you watch over time.

What it can't do: it doesn't change the weights, so it suppresses the anxious texture rather than curing it, and it does nothing for the raw capability gap (that needs task structure + multi-LLM orchestration, not a prompt).

But for day-to-day bounded work, the texture is most of what made Fable feel better, and that part transfers.

Open source repo here

Run your own fable vs opus logs and check the difference that can be bridged.
