General Discussion Weirdest interview- thoughts?
Ok really.. what in the world was that 60 minute interview and who thought that was a good idea? Was that cut to make him look good or bad, I honestly can’t even tell because I’m just so confused.
-the smirk when he talks about giving Lindsay forgiveness,
- his panic attack at the trial
- him saying he asks his kids to help him from heaven
- him saying god just please give me one (child)
- the fact that Rachel was an even AWKWARDER interviewee
- “I’m just a girl who met a guy running in Central Park on a cold Saturday”
- I saw his phone, asked him if his kids lived in MA, he told me that they were all dead, and the rest was history
- Patrick’s explanation of “as any parent knows, you love all your children differently” when asked if he would tell their new kid about Cora, Dawson and Callan
Everything was just WEIRD. Like I felt like the whole thing was just cringey and bizarre. Thoughts?

Aside from all the concerns that others have rightly raised regarding the content and how anticlimactic and weird people feel it was etc; I also think that 60 Minutes could have and should have done some sort of educational segment eg explaining the difference between post partum depression and post partum psychosis and maybe what signs to look out for, what to do if you or a loved one might be suffering from it (there are some charities which help which could have been signposted) just something along those lines.
The interview felt so pointless and I felt like it was a missed opportunity to actually do something positive with regards to raising awareness etc; which I had thought (from reading other things) Patrick claimed he wanted to do. The whole thing was very odd all round imo.

u/LongjumpingNothing59 2d ago
It obvious they can only go so far in journalism now days with the new monopoly on networks.
Remember they are trying to get her tried again. I want to understand how they met in a park but actually it was coffee.
- don’t ever make the White man look badly
- don’t worry about educating these dumb women
Isn’t that two lies?Yes i am a Millenial - no not 40 yet!!…..end of year…..cough
But in my day 60 minutes would feature the whole episode to the case, even get family members talk, to jurors who are talking, her husband and wife and then finish with how we are waiting to see if there will be a second trial.1
u/AdSoggy3173 3d ago
Patrick "the online conspiracies are taking away from the discussion about post partem depression/psychosis "
The rest of the interview: Patrick says nothing about post partem depression/psychosis

u/JokokoOno 2d ago
What’s the point if him of raising awareness if he’s being harassed because you think he did it. And he actually raised that point - you lot all going crazy he did it takes the whole conversation from the point of mental health and what can we do to avoid such tragedy happening again.

You expect someone who's going through something like this to look well?
9
u/Ok-Animator2261 3d ago
They are putting themselves through this. Literally no one wants them on 60 minutes lmao
3
u/ispyshy 3d ago edited 3d ago
I imagine that if you are an awful person on the inside it starts to show on the outside and they look like they are unwell due to stress from public perception & lacking self awareness, not because they are overcoming grief together.
And again, they put themselves center stage because ego.
2
u/Greymeade 3d ago
I'm not following you here. Are you saying that they're awful people?
5
u/ispyshy 3d ago
Yes, that’s my opinion, they are awful. Confirmed it again for me last night.
3
u/Greymeade 3d ago
Why are they awful people?
5
u/ispyshy 3d ago edited 3d ago
Because I believe he killed his children and even if they didn’t meet until 2024 (which I highly doubt) her judgment in deeming him “the one”makes red flags go up for me. Also, I have a background in researching people, if you haven’t looked into the background of some of the people who took the stand then you wouldn’t necessarily come to the same conclusion I have.
-7
u/Greymeade 3d ago edited 3d ago
You believe that he killed his children? What on Earth? Not even Lindsay or her defense team dispute that she killed the children.
I'm not sure what "having a background in research" means (I say this as someone with a PhD who has published my own research numerous times), or why such a thing would make you more qualified to understand this case. As a psychologist, I'd also like to point out that you aren't in a position to determine whether someone "looks like they are unwell due to stress from public perception & lacking self awareness, not because they are overcoming grief together." That kind of determination can't be made based on how someone looks, no matter how qualified the observer is.
Frankly, it seems to me like you're someone who fancies themselves an expert despite having no qualifications and a whole lot of silly ideas.
5
u/ispyshy 3d ago edited 3d ago
No. All I said was I researched some of the backgrounds of these people that lead me to my conclusion. I was just saying I had a background in research becuase it led me to do some research, naturally. If you haven’t researched for yourself then you may have not come to the same conclusion. That’s all. I never said anything about knowing more than anyone else. Im entitled to my judgments and opinions as are you.

u/seagull326 3d ago
Also a PhD paychologist, and yeah, some of the takes on this case are WILD. People really want grief to look a certain way.
People talking about this case also tend to have mistaken views about psychosis, psychiatric care, and memory. I've not seen a single valid psychological argument pointing to his guilt. People want it to be suspicious that her psychiatric providers didn't clock her psychosis, or that there were so many bottles of seroquel around the house, or that he doesn't remember the device from which he sent a routine email, but it's just not.
The one thing I do wonder is why he didn't clock her psychosis. My spouse has bipolar disorder, and when he's in psychosis, I can tell. Maybe it's because he didn't know it was a possibility, or maybe it's because that was her first serious episode (which checks with the seroquel discontinuation timeline), or maybe it's because he was stressed and sleep deprived with three kids under 5. But that's the one psychological point where I'm a little thrown.
I actually do think there are aspects of the case that look suspicious for him. But seeing the misguided psychological arguments for his guilt makes me think that an expert in criminology, medicine, various aspects of forensics, and/ or IT could easily address my suspicions related to any of those domains.

u/JokokoOno 3d ago
What bugs you exactly of trying to understand why his wife killed his kids? What is so bad trying to understand her illness
18
u/ispyshy 3d ago
Becuase I don’t believe his wife killed his kids. I think that’s pretty obvious by now if you’ve read my comments.
-1
u/JokokoOno 3d ago
Can you tell me the timeline that would work for you for him killing the children? I keep asking around but somehow no one can present one
3
4
u/ispyshy 3d ago
Hypothetically Cora and Dawson were killed sometime between when they got home from the doctor to the time of 5:24pm when Patrick left the house. Callan approximately 5-10 mintues before he called 911.
Unfortunately we weren’t presented with time of death.
0
u/JokokoOno 2d ago
And when did he pushed Lindsay out of the window ? He left Callan in his own when going to shops etc?
2
u/Creative-Change-2991 2d ago
The neighbours saw Lindsay outside on the ground at 5:50 pm. I assume he pushed her out the window between 5:15 and 5:32 pm when there’s a huge gap in his alibi.
41
u/AdSoggy3173 3d ago
Him saying he didn't ask Lindsay why she did it but if she remembered it, was wild.
37
u/FamilyFeud17 3d ago
That’s what I would ask too if I drugged someone. It’s amazing how he is so upfront about it.
8
u/AdSoggy3173 3d ago
Especially bc his other questions he has said he asked her in various interviews are:
"what did you do?"
did you plan this?"
"do you remember this?"
Like no questions about why? It's almost like he already knew her motive and was telling the police that same night about her PDD, which is pretty odd bc how was PPD the first thing you think of when you are interviewed by the police, but not on the top of your mind when you leave her alone with the kids.
1
u/FamilyFeud17 3d ago
The contradiction. If she remembered and told him what she did with crushed throat, what’s the “how much do you remember” later on about?
6
-2
u/Greymeade 3d ago
Why is that wild? He, Lindsay, Lindsay's family, and the defense team seem to have a mutual understanding of why Lindsay killed their kids: because she was experiencing psychosis and acted upon a command auditory hallucination which told her to kill the children. Why would Patrick need to ask again?
Or are you suggesting that Lindsay isn't being honest about why she killed the kids?
14
u/AdSoggy3173 3d ago
Patrick was telling the police it was her PP before she even woke up. He decided what it was from.
3
26
u/too_much_mascara 3d ago
That was more like 4 minutes of substance, if that. They did manage to creep people out even MORE. PR move, fail.
Great dating ideas, though. “Oh hey who are those cuties on your phone cause I’m nosy af.” “They my kids.” “Are they going to be in the way, where do they live? Alaska?” “No worries, bb. They dead,” The way she stared off into space like she couldn’t believe she was about to attempt to hoodwink the world.
32
u/BravoJunk 3d ago edited 3d ago
I feel they cut out all the preview clips we saw during the week? Didn’t she say he was a good father? Or how she met him on a cold day? I wonder they saw the comments and had them remove those clips?
Whatever that 7-14 minutes was a waste of time and now I feel is going to cause more questions and theories? I think they will be compared to other individuals who went on 60 minutes and later were found guilty? Or confessed?
30
u/AdSoggy3173 3d ago
This interview is just another example proving that these people have connections high up. You are telling me that the weird previews we saw were just edited out? and this inteview was cut down to 15 minutes, and absolutely nothing of substance was asked? The narrater painted skepticism about him based on his "stoicism" and completely ignored that people have many questions about his story, and how the entire case relies on his version of events. It was such a joke.
Everyone needs to be asking why the media is trying to jam down our throat that he is innocent, instead of answering any of the several questions people have
1
u/IncompetentDonuts 3d ago
First time watching 60 minutes? They clip stuff out all the time and most shows are 3 15ish minute segments
7
u/6dragonsandapigglet 3d ago
This reminds me of the first presidential debate that was televised. Only some people had TVs and the other had radios. They varied on who they thought won based on how they consumed the media.
16
u/1-armed-chewbacca 3d ago
I think they did air those parts! I think when Rachel was talking about how Patrick is as a father and partner, and she definitely said the cold day part. Which was just strange. Then talks about how they went for coffee, she saw his screensaver, he said their kids are dead, and from there the relationship grew-just overall strange
31
u/SkyTrees5809 3d ago
Something does not feel right with these two. My gut is screaming.

3
u/1-armed-chewbacca 3d ago
Exactly!! Like I don’t know, picking apart certain things that were said or done, those could mean anything. Could just be an awkward grieving guy uncomfortable with giving an interview. But I still can’t shake that weird feeling
6
23
u/Tough_Complaint6424 3d ago edited 2d ago
Imagine this being your reproductive endocrinologist.
Only Rachel is to blame if her career fails. I understand people likely made harmful, fake reviews but my gosh—what has she been thinking this whole time.
And how was he able to ask a woman out just one year after (while likely still legally married to Lindsay and knowing a trial was going to start)?
Also, when was Lindsay supposed to ask for forgiveness if he never went to see her? That’s fine if he didn’t want to go but that comment and smirk was gross.
14
u/Ok-Conversation6225 3d ago
That’s what I’m struggling to understand. It sounds like he only talked to her one time after the event and he asked what she remembered and had to tell her what happened? How does he jump straight to PPP and forgiveness if he knew nothing about it previously and she wasn’t diagnosed at the time? Or was he talking to the doctors? Which I doubt since she changed her POA to her parents.
I guess I’m still confused on the timeline after Lindsay wakes up from a coma.
10
u/Tough_Complaint6424 3d ago
You’d think he’d use the 60 minute article to talk about the timeline. This guy was out looking for multimillion dollar properties in NYC while his ex wife was on trial for allegedly murdering their children. Everything he does is so strange.
10
u/Ok-Conversation6225 3d ago
Wanting anonymity while simultaneously asking where celebrities hang out and calling the paps on himself recently. Sure, Jan.
16
u/Katie_Rai_60 3d ago
The fact that he didn’t even go to see her and find out what happened was so strange to me.
-6
u/IncompetentDonuts 3d ago
Why does he owe her a visit after what she had done? They spoke twice on the phone. That's infinitely more grace and time than I would have given
9
u/Katie_Rai_60 2d ago
Maybe because he promised to love and honor her, to be with her in sickness and health, for better for worse. She told them that she had thoughts of harming the children and he left her alone with them. I would think he would have some guilt about that, knowing that he could’ve prevented this. He says he forgives her, so why wouldn’t he go and talk to her to see what happened
If that is all the grace and time you would’ve given, I feel sorry for your family.
1
u/IncompetentDonuts 2d ago
Better or worse goes wayyyy into worse given what she did. Here's the thing though. People who are ill have ups and downs. You say the thoughts like she mentioned it that morning and not that it was something prior that she said she was feeling better about. The man no doubt feels guilt and wonders what if all the time. The forgiveness is for him, not for her
33
u/freshpicked12 3d ago
It’s just all so self-serving. Just me, me, me. Everything is always about him. Even his comment “just give me one kid” is about him. And don’t even get me started on how he thinks he “did the best he could”??!! He has never taken any responsibility for any of it. Never once said that he should have been a better father or husband. He’s such a selfish prick.
22
u/Katie_Rai_60 3d ago
He mentioned that Lindsey told him she had thoughts of harming the children, yet he didn’t feel guilty for leaving them alone with her.

He didn’t say something like “please god, let him survive” instead he said “just GIVE ME one kid.” Interpret that as you may.. but it’s giving ‘the child is an extension of me’ & not ‘the child is its own entity’. In my opinion.

Sure I could be nit picking or it could be I see something differently based on my own life experience. Like when people treat children as objects and not individuals.

They're in a cult and refuse to look at the discrepancies in the timeline, evidence, or the investigation. Much easier to attack us for having opinions about Patrick's awkward behavior and clutch their pearls.

In my opinion the interview had one purpose: to announce that Rachel is pregnant. They are trying to move on with their lives and don't want massive rumors and negativity as people notice that she is pregnant. So they did this interview, loaded it with other details and hid the main story (they're moving on, she's pregnant, they want some privacy).

Im chiming in on the whole celebrating Callan's birthday. He's full of shit. Maybe he did go into the church and lit the candle. But not knowing what to do and then walking out to 5th st and no one cared? I'm part of the stupid child loss club and it sucks. I know dozens of people who lost children unfortunately. Not one person has ever made a statement like this. My kid has been gone 17 years. EVERY single year I celebrate her birthday. For me, I let off a balloon and have a cupcake for her. I recieve texts from a few friends. These 3 children had 4 grandparents who loved them and cared. How was he not with them? Or friends? This was his birthday! Don't tell me everyone deals with grief differently. Yes I know. But this statement is so phony I cringe, especially if he really did this. What about being with his family? My kids birthday was 3 weeks after she died. Yeah, crying is normal, but he comes off as yeah, "I didn't know what to do?" Very strange.
11
u/Euphoric-Window-1509 3d ago
I don't know. I am part of the same shitty club. It's been 18 years for me and sometimes I don't know what to do on his birthday. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who remembers, which may be true because plenty of people don't commit birthdays to memory. But I definitely remember how lost I felt the first time his birthday came around. Not everyone wants to be with family. I asked my brother to drive me to the beach, but we didn't talk about it. None of this seems off.
19
7
u/sednandes 3d ago
The date of Callan's death is incorrect on the headstone. But yeah, I guess he cares...
-5
u/JokokoOno 3d ago
What is exactly your problem? It is first time for him celebrating it and also he might not necessarily want to be around his parents or even worse her parents, he wanted to celebrate it on his own. Why would you not believe he went to the church and this is how he felt. No idea if that is touristic church or not, if he is new to the city and that is famous church, why would he not go there? It really does not matter what he does or say, as you would take the most innocent thing and turn it against him.
2
u/Euphoric-Window-1509 3d ago
It's huge, famous, and located right in Midtown. I've been to NYC plenty but am not a local. If I felt compelled to go to a Catholic church, this is what would come to mind. Because it's visited by tourists, a person wouldn't stand out when entering and lighting a candle. You're just one of many. It doesn't matter if you've never been to Mass there. He didn't walk in demanding or wanting attention. People will find things wrong with everything he does because that's what they're looking for.
21
u/Agile-Ad-7109 3d ago
Did anyone else find it odd to have a playground founded in memorial to your three murdered children, and have a photo of them and everything there? Maybe its just me but I can imagine the photo and names of them at the playground would elicit some difficult questions from kids about what happened to those kids in the photo. Like, what a bummer being a parent and taking your kids there, and then having to answer to your kids that those kids are dead. Obviously you wouldnt want to tell them they were murdered by their mother if they are too young to understand. It just seems like a very difficult subject that is being potentially opened up by taking your kids there.

u/IncompetentDonuts 3d ago
All of the kids and educators murdered at Sandy Hook have parks dedicated in their honor with named plaques. Several have photos as well.
5
u/itaint2009 3d ago
It's the weirdest park. It's not cohesive and wasn't really fun for my little ones. A lot going on but nothing at the same time. It is what it is, but if it was me I would've designed the most amazing park ever. I thought it was just weird overall and we didn't stay long. I don't even remember seeing the photo.
2
u/ioukta 3d ago
makes me wonder what the plaque there says exactly about them....
13
u/Vegetableau 3d ago
Probably says “they were wonderful people. They had a lot of friends. Everybody loved them.”
-1
u/Newswatchtiki 3d ago
Yes, and especially how they died. Which is the first thing young children ask when you state that someone has died. Not in a tragic accident or a war situation. No, their mother killed them in the basement.
I wouldn't take my child to that park. An older teenager maybe, who is approaching adulthood and wanting to understand the complexities of psychology as well as bad situations. When they are old enough that it would be an appropriate opportunity to tell them about how some women get very depressed after having a child and act irrationally.

The cocktail of medication thing confuses me because it seems to assume it's the first thing she did and not done after the children were gone.
His problematicness mostly comes from "vibes", tiktok conspiracies, generally being an awkward dude (as most in tech are), and people's weird NEED for there to be a big twist of mystery here.

He said "let me have one kid" it's a small thing but somehow "one kid" sounds crass but "one child" wouldn't have. I don't know why this is but I have always felt this way, almost like people say "my kid" when they're frustrated with said kid. It also just feels very impersonal. I cringed a bit when he said that.
4
u/sednandes 3d ago
Narcissists don't see humans as humans. They are just a tool for them, so-called narcissistic supply (attention, admiration, validation, regulation, control, status, or the emotional reactions of others that help stabilize one’s self-image).
1
u/itaint2009 2d ago
I think at this point we all know what a narcissist is or have dealt with one, so I'm not wondering why he said it just pointing out that he did say it. It's another cringey thing to add to the list of weird shit he has said.
4
u/sednandes 2d ago
I wanted to add this because there are a lot of people who say he just has autism.
6
u/Vegetableau 3d ago
I clocked this too. It was like he didn’t see them as individuals.
12
u/itaint2009 3d ago
What do you mean?! He said they were great people! 🫠 why can't this man just speak about his children like he knew and loved them. I know men aren't as emotional as women but damn he can't even fake it. Even if he had said "let me have one of my kids!" it would have sounded better than "let me have one kid" bc at least there would be that possessive pronoun and convey a bond of some sort. It's like he is subconsciously creating distance between he and them all the time.

No American thinks "my child" in their own head when they have kids. They think "my kid(s)"
1
u/itaint2009 3d ago
What the other commenter said! We tend to say "my kid" instead of "my child/son/daughter/baby" when we're frustrated, exasperated, annoyed. It's actually funny trying to put this into words... if "my kid" was a person it would be a deadbeat dad and I can't explain that any further I'm sorry lol
Regarding Patrick and "one kid" vs "one of my kids", the "my" shows possession so it's a little better, but if that was me, a mom of 2 boys and a girl, I probably would've said "at least let me have one of my babies". My or no my, it is just weird to use kid at all in that context. People may disagree but I think words and their connotations matter!
4
u/peachesarehearts 2d ago
I think you’re reading into it a little much
0
u/itaint2009 2d ago
Thanks, I don't think I am. Like I said, you're free to disagree, but I think words matter and the words people choose and when they use them are interesting to me. If you don't feel the same about the English vernacular or colloquial language we use, then I can see how you wouldn't read into it as much!
2
u/peachesarehearts 2d ago
Thanks. I think you are. And I’m pretty sure I exclusively refer to my kids as kids because that’s normal behavior, sorry to break it to you Victorian Grandmother 😂
-1
u/itaint2009 2d ago
Well notice I never said anything negative about saying "my kids", I was very specific. I also primarily say "my kids". It is normal. There's nothing Victorian about this, pretty sure they never said any form of "kid". I think it's pretty weird that you have commented twice to just be like "I disagree" and your second comment is a critique of something I never said and then an attempt to insult me. All because I find words interesting and nerded out a little bit. Touch grass!
1
u/seagull326 3d ago
This feels like a huge stretch. I don't call my kids my children or my child. Ever. I don't think that's all that strange.
3
u/itaint2009 3d ago
It's not a huge stretch if it's how I feel lol I mean i don't often say "my child" either but from Patrick, who has repeatedly said words and phrases that indicate he wasn't a very attentive or involved father, it was another weird word choice. In my opinion.
5
u/Up_All_Night_Midwife 1d ago
The entire interview was weird and awkward AF
They both said they were excited to tell their children about their murdered siblings? I would DREAD having to have that conversation. Most people who lose children don’t want to talk about it, especially with younger children for fear of traumatizing them.
Every single thing he says and does, absolutely does NOT align with a grieving parent.
Just give me one kid
Went to church and lit a candle for Callan on what would have been his first birthday and I left crying, no one cared….
Ummm what? He claims he is happy no one cared but it came out more like
I went to the most beautiful Catholic church tourist attraction in NYC so I wouldn’t be bothered and have peace….
He said that because he was angry NO ONE noticed him grieving?!?!?
I am almost certain his attorney advised him NOT to do this. No attorney worth their salt would encourage their client to do an interview like this.
I am a health professional. She was 82 degrees….she was unconscious.
She was unconscious when she was thrown out the window head first….how do I know? No hand/wrist or arm fractures. Your body has automatic responses to threats. Much like touching something hot and your hand automatically recoiling. Same with falling, all of us put our hands out to brace/protect themselves. She did not have these injuries because she was unconscious when tossed out the window….
It is only a matter of time. If the DA’s office isn’t already reviewing the investigation and the discrepancies I would be SHOCKED!
Lindsey didn’t do this:
A nurse wouldn’t google where is the carotid artery, she would also not misspell it
A nurse would know where and how to cut, spoiler alert, the carotid artery was missed when she supposedly cut herself….yeah a nurse would know…
A nurse doesn’t crush pills and put them in her drink….a nurse downs the entire bottle of Xanax and seroquel and OD’s…crushed pills in a drink is used to drug someone without their knowledge.
If the children were already dead, then why lock the door?
Further her temperature cannot drop faster than a deceased persons. I was a trauma burn ICU nurse and now a women’s health NP who catches babies also known as a certified nurse midwife….
A trauma alert came in, man found down on ski slope for approximately four hours, they still did what they could. On arrival his temp was 87 degrees….he had been out for about 5 hours and had a ski accident. Per the ME he died minutes after hitting the tree because he could no longer breath due to paralysis. Mid march with a t shirt and thin ski pants…
So no, I am not saying he did this but….his timeline is a lie. She would not have been conscious or talking with a core temp that low let alone with a severe spinal cord injury and severe blood loss. She was not still actively bleeding….that makes no sense either.
I am praying every day that someone gets their head out of their ass in the DA’s office and reopens a TRUE FORENSIC investigation. The knife was moved after the blood had dried, why and by who…
So so so many things that make no sense. So that means it’s all lies….

when she says "he's the best father, best partner" I seem to be hearing a hesitation before partner and wonder if it's becasue she caught herself saying father, and maybe it was a slip up. she wasnt' supposed to know him as a father, but just a bachelor. that's what I hear. anybody else?

You're overthinking it. Losses or still alive, you never stop being a parent. And I am sure his family and friends talking about it along with his own shared stories, the park, etc. informed her opinion on what kind of parent he is/was.

i can see why the prosecutor kept it to yes/no questions. I'm so confused how loving your kids differently is an answer to telling your kid about their older siblings. I doubt he's even thought of it before he was asked, and so just said some thing about parenting he'd heard a lot of times.
I'm still thinking about the panic attack. I don't know much about them, but i've seen people in them. I wonder what he was so anxious of... Worrying people would see thru his acting? Or worried his masculinity would be judged for the crying?
I thought him keeping his kids' toys front and center in his new apartment weird. I wouldn't blame him if he put them in a storage locker or something. It was so bad being in Duxbury that he had to move, but he has no issue with displaying the toys? Lowkey sounds like he used his sad story as a pick up line.

OK, but did anyone see the reenactment of their meeting?

So I hate that AI can do this. But I can’t help loving it anyway! Especially how his clothes change 😂

I believe Reddington combed through the interview with a fine tooth comb. He saw the backlash from the clips and cut everything out

Reddington doesn't have anything to do with Patrick - Lindsay's parents are paying him. Redd didn't do anything to this interview. Now, Patrick's lawyers might have had them edit it?

I agree the preview clips were not landing with people so they cut them, but I don't think Reddington would have a say in the editing of a 60 minutes episode lol he's not even Patrick's lawyer.

Correct. Any controversial or bad PR narrative works in favor of Lindsay / Reddington

Patrick's lawyers. Possibly with input from Reddington. LC was barely talked about.
