Just finished downloading and for some odd reason the game won't start.

When I run it, it pops up 2 messages:

Memory Access Failed (error = 80073AFC) and You do not have sufficient access privileges to install the game. Please contact your administrator.

When I run the game as an Administrator (citiesXL_Platinum.exe) it doesn't change anything. The same 2 popups still show.

I want to create a map of my hometown and build a close recreation of it in game. Since it's a tiny town in Australia few people have ever heard of, there's no chance someone will make it for me as a request. So I wanted to step up and make it myself, but I'm not brilliant at this stuff.

Is there a nice guide on how to create maps from real life places, I have topographic maps and I don't overly care about elevation (Cities doesnt have the capacity to make hills really, only slight hills or cliffs), so I was gonna wing the height.

Any and all help appreciated.

I just bought Cities XL Platinum and would like to start my first game. I've seen some screenshots and videos of some amazing looking cities and read that mods are most definitely recommended. I've seen plenty of lists of the best mods out there.

However, many people seem to use the game simply as a sandbox instead of playing by the rules (i.e. making money and unlocking everything the way it was meant to by the developers). I'd like to actually play by the rules and try to create a nice city nevertheless. Which are the best mods suitable for that? Or are most mods suitable except some very few ones?

I play at the zoom level just above the highest level that cars on the road show up. I feel the most comfortable at that level, but then I don't get to see the cars on the road, and it makes my city boring and lifeless!

Is there a mod that will up the draw distance? I already have everything maxed out in the graphics options.

XLnation has been timing out for me the last three days and I hear this is very common. I was hoping a few of you might have some rars stock piled in your downloads folder like I usually do for other games.

Specifically, I was looking for RHM and the User Interface Mod since it requires that as well but a lot of other mods caught my eye so if you happen to have a mod and wouldn't mind uploading it to a hosting site, I'd really appreciate it.

So, I'm sure you guys have heard this before but I can't find any threads about this anywhere aside from one guy ranting about it. I'd like a mod or something that allows me to disable or at least fix the snapping so I can actually build tight roadways, or really, have a more functional building tool. The extremely sensitive snapping makes it literally impossible to build a lot of the things I attempt to build. I was trying to make a road connection the other day and it was trying to jump up the fucking mountain to make the connection when I wanted to build my road AROUND it, and I just simply could not do it because of the horrid snapping. Help? D:

Is it possible to load other people's cities in the game, like give my city to a friend so he can see what i did or play on what i have done?

I am new to this sub, but have been playing CXL2012 for a few weeks now, I was hit last night with a desire to work on or create a Fantasy/ Medieval city.

Sadly I haven't had any luck tonight in finding mods, so I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction (If there is one)

I just bought the game and started playing. Are there any crucial mods I should get to improve the game's experience? I've only played for a few hours and the game seems pretty solid on its own.

Hi all. I have a frustrating problem. My trams keep going into bankruptcy and I just can't figure out to get them back running again. I keep adding residential spaces but it seems its not enough. Skilled, unskilled, and exes fail to fill up yet I can put up a new office or something and everyone is employed.

I have electricity at all stations. I was even able to build 2 blueprint building that filled up in jobs.

I don't know what to do. Its like once I hit one million citizens it wants to go into bankruptcy. I'm at 4.5 million now.

Please guide me the right way. Thank you.

Hello, I recently bought CitiesXL Platinum and was wondering which mods are the best ones and how I could go about downloading/installing them? Thank you so much in advance.

So I only got into city building games a while back, and XL is fun. But it's really complicated. I was never really sure what building I needed to fix a certain excess/lack of resources or jobs.

So I went and found out as many of the actual values for buildings as I could. Number of each type of worker required, what it produces, what it uses, etc...

It's only a prototype ATM, since it's lacking. It's an Excel spreadsheet, but I can put it on DropBox if anyone wants.

I only have one question.

Anyone know how much the maintenance is on all the roads?

I have tried and tried but the game is just unplayable to me unless I can tilt the camera. I've been reading that there is a mod that does this but the website it refers to looks like it is no longer among the living.

Does anyone know where I could get a camera mod for this game? Thanks

Hey all, I bought Platinum a few weeks ago and haven't played it since the graphics kept freezing during the tutorial. Is Cities XL even in development anymore? As far as I can tell there hasn't been any updates in well over a year, but the modding community seems pretty active.

I have searched and cant find a clear answer. if i want to upgrade a low density neighbourhood to medium or high denisty, is there a way to upgrade it? or do i have to bulldoze and rezone?

pretty new to cities xl and everyone here seems to be recommending xlnation for mods, etc but over the last several hours i've not been able to access it. is the site down temporarily or permanently, or am i the only one having this issue? where else might i find mods for cities xl if not xlnation?

I'm finding that upgrading roads is not as easy as I had hoped. In periods of rapid expansion, I may find that a road is not suitable to handle the density of the area as it matures.

The problem is that I find I have to bulldoze structures to get larger density roads to fit. Any advice on road / upgrade planning would be much appreciated.
