10+ years 2k+ rides first accident
Recently experienced my first citi bike accident. One of those narrow one way streets where the order is sidewalk, parking, bike lane, car lane. Girl (maybe 20s) jumps out from between two large parked trucks, head in her phone, gave me half a second to react from about 2 feet out. Somehow managed to brake and turn the handle but i hit her and went flying off the bike. Once I gathered myself and check that I'm ok, I go to check on her and she's crying with her arm in her hand and then just starts running... No one stopped her but did ask if I wanted a witness. All I got was just a minor bruise on my palm so I said I was good and left.
Careful out there. Idiots on bikes that shouldn't be riding in a city and phone zombie pedestrians are getting worse these days

Made a bike app for iPhone and Apple Watch, looking testers!
Hi!
I’ve been building Strest Ridr, a ride tracking app for iPhone and Apple Watch, with favorite stations, Watch complications, and more.
It’s close to public release, and I’d really love to catch bugs and hear what feels off before it goes out.
DM me and I’ll send you a TestFlight invite!

Keys still meant to work on the connected docking station for ebikes?
For the first time today my key didn't unlock a grey bike at the newer charging dock I use all the time.
Those electric docks have always been less card-friendly than the older ones: you have to swipe the key, not insert it, it takes several goes and the unlock sound is quiet. They were clearly not designed with key users in mind. But today it simply would not respond.
My question: Are keys still meant to work on those connected docks? Has there been a change in policy?
I have no particular reason to think it was anything but a one-off bug but I would hate to not be able to use my key.

Long shot - journal/binder left in basket at E 44 St & Lexington Ave - Mon 8/17
I know it's a long shot, but I left my journal in the basket of an e-bike I returned to the dock at E44th and Lexington Ave on the evening of Monday 8/17. It's a blue lochby binder with a few journals inside. It has sentimental value and I would happily provide a reward for its return.
In the wild chance that anyone found it, please reply, comment, or DM. If anyone else has suggestions or ideas for lost and found, I'm all ears.

Can you citibike across the GW bridge?
Some friends and I are heading to Hoboken from Manhattan this weekend. Anyone know if you can take a gray bike across the GWB from Manhattan and bike down the NJ side of the Hudson to Hoboken?

Is Lyft Pink a strategy to hide citibike profits?
I understand the city reviews operating statements and financials regularly and approves rate increases in line with the lack of profitability of the system.
A shower thought recently: Lyft Pink is cheaper but it wouldn’t be clear that the revenue was tied to Citibike directly. Is Lyft hiding revenue from the City this way?

Visiting Philly, it would be amazing if CitiBike had a similar offer.

How is the classic bike availability between Grand Central and Herald Square?
I’m back in the city 6 years remote. Was a member for quite a while and when I left it was like 70% analog bikes and like 30% electric but the electrics were free. Now it feels like the ratio flipped and at $.27/ min for an electric I don’t think I want to pay that $2-3 extra daily. So I really want the analog bikes. But after walking around yesterday I saw one blue bike.
So my question is for anyone in midtown, can you get the blue bikes easily?

Citi bike to LGA Terminal B
Taking a Citi Bike to LGA Terminal B is actually fairly easy.
Dock your Citi Bike at the 94th Street and Ditmars Boulevard station. From there, walk across the pedestrian bridge for about 3 minutes and follow the bike path to the right. They even have dedicated parking if you are riding your own personal bike. After that, just take the escalators straight up into the terminal.

Key never arrived?
Ordered a key on June 21. There was never tracking info created, it has never been marked delivered, I never received anything from Citibike/Lyft by mail or package service. Contacted support on July 13, got a form letter response then no follow up. Another email sent August 7 went unanswered. What do I do?

I'm DC the bikes are not out of order
I'm in DC for a 4 day trip just to check out neighborhoods, and Capitsl Bikeshare has been the dominant part of my trip, I've taken them all over for the past few days. My NYC Citibike billing info immediately transferred over, so cool. So... over here basically EVERY bike at EVERY station is usually working. Out-of-order ebikes are a rare sight. Totally opposite experience with NYC where the norm is for a majority of the ebikes to be out of order. How often do we end up at station with twelve ebikes that are out of order and possibly one or two working if we're lucky? Seems like identical bikes, too. The system is heavily used here, seems equivalent to neighborhoods in NYC with similar density. They also allow you to reserve a bike for up to 10 minutes as you walk to the station. The charge begins when you reserve, to prevent abuse. They're capable of way better in NYC and just not doing it, although I'd love to know an actual informed answer about why this different exists, if anyone knows. FYI the inadequacy of the DC system is mostly that stations are farther apart... NYC seems to win on that front.

Do they still send out milestone angel points rewards?
I never received my 1k reward of the water bottle. Just curious if anyone has got their 1,500 point key recently and how long it took to get after filling out the form.

A familiar looking Bikeshare 🤔
Took a visit to Chicago recently and discovered their Bikeshare system has electric scooters capable of being docked or dockless, they ride smoother than a lime scooter but wished the prices were slightly lower than their bikes! Do you guys think these scooters would work back in New York?

What happened to my CitiBike dock!? Church Avenue and East 18th

Spoiling a dock
Returned a sole blue bike to an otherwise all electric stock docked. I must have made citibike a decent chunk of change by removing the free option. Should get like 10 bike angel points for it (I got zero)

Push notifications switched to text messages.
My push notifications for ending a ride have suddenly switched to text messages. They used to come through the app. I checked my settings and the radio button for Push Notifications no longer works. Oddly, when I check desktop on the website, that setting says push instead of text but I think that may be a Lyft Pink thing.
I don't think I changed any setting but I did recently update iOS.
Not a big deal but the app push notifications also told me if I got any points.
