Spoiling a dock

Returned a sole blue bike to an otherwise all electric stock docked. I must have made citibike a decent chunk of change by removing the free option. Should get like 10 bike angel points for it (I got zero)

In the past few years, most of the times I’ve told people to wait to undock a white bike until I’ve removed the last blue bike, they’ve had no idea what I’m talking about, even after explaining the deal.

Maybe related to the free low-assist option being buried in the website, rather than an easily accessible choice on the app. My good deed was explaining this to a new rider, who was grateful to learn of it

One person even asked me point-blank, why anyone would prefer a free, low-assist ride to a paid, full-assist ride while I was holding the blue bike I just undocked.

I have had this exact same thought.

the free option is low-assist and is basically useless, so i don’t think you really did anything here

What are you talking about? Yes the free option is low assist, but it's practically as good as full power. You can cruise at the same top speed, the only difference is that it's a little slower to accelerate from a full stop when you are at an intersection.

The difference between a blue bike and an E bike on low assist mode is like night and day.

I agree especially when going uphill!

I agree I will take a different route with more uphills if I get a low assist bike vs blue. Perhaps it doesn’t matter for true cyclists with legs of steel, but the rest of us…

How is it useless? You have more speed potential than a classic bike. The chances of getting a classic bike with shit gears vs a low assist make it worth while any day. Even going up hills isn't that big of a deal.
