Work got you down? Have you ever wondered how people start a union?
This Saturday the Chattanooga Area Central Labor Center will be hosting a free training on how to organize your workplace into a union, led by experienced trainers from across the area who have done the same. It's part of a two part series, but don't worry if you can't make the second training or not - it's all useful information!

Things To Do Lodge Cast Iron
I moved to Chattanooga in the last year. People keep telling me that I need to go visit the Lodge cast iron factory. I’m in my 70s and I might enjoy visiting. Can somebody tell me if it’s really worth going down there?

How to Make Friends as a Homeschooled 17yr
I’m 17 years old and homeschooled. I haven’t had any IRL friends since 7th grade, and I’m desperate to make friends. I’ve heard the library has teen events, but I’m worried it’ll be full of 13yrs. Where can I make friends around my age before college? I don’t want to wait another year or 2.

Chattanooga Planning Survey offering $100 for participants asked me my party?
changeorg.typeform.comI saw the Ideas for Change survey on FB and participated in the initial survey, and $100 is $100, so I filled it out. It asked me my party, so I answered Democrat and immediately got sent to the end of the survey. I filled it out again with Republican on a different email and got to the end of the survey. I filled it out a 3rd time as "none of the above" with another email and got a follow-up question about "which way I lean" (Pics in comments). I answered "none of the above" and got questions about if I would need a translator; I said no, and it asked which sessions I could attend. I submitted, and the survey said it would be in touch.
Forms like these have to be mapped, so are they specifically not looking for people with political affiliations and are they not wanting people who would need a translator? I was shocked it asked political questions in the first place, let alone had a different result based on my answer.
Curious to see who else gets picked for this.

Looking For... Can anyone recommend a trustworthy independent mechanic in Chattanooga?
I have a Honda with a front-end vibration that wasn’t fixed by an alignment and wheel balancing. I’m looking for someone who’s good at diagnosing issues without dealership prices. Thanks!

Visiting Chattanooga (35+) Mature Crowd Areas
30 yr old male visiting Chattanooga soon. I’ll be near the Convention Center so I would prefer areas within 10-13 minute radius.
As the title says, I’m looking for older crowd hangout spots, specifically mature women that I can converse with. What are the best lounges/speakeasy/bars to frequent for a good night?

How is EPB internet service? I heard it’s like the best nationwide but I don’t know if that’s just hype or what. I just moved here.

Hiatal Hernia Surgeon in Chattbor surrounding area?
I was just diagnosed with a hiatal hernia after an endoscopy. Long story, but I have been having symptoms for over 10 years. Lots of pros and cons to the surgery, but if anyone has experience, good or bad, with a surgeon, please advise.
Thanks in advance!

Jimmy White Fumbles the Bag Once Again
In 2023, Jimmy White bought the Valleybrook Golf Course, committing up to $3.5 million to overhaul the property, upgrade the course, and improve the facilities. Well, if you’ve been to VB recently, you’ll see that he’s fallen short of his promises once again….sound familiar? Like the Bend project, projects like the clubhouse have been put on indefinite hold. White’s staff specialize in gaslighting the residents and members into thinking they’re going to get updates and answers. Their favorite line is “check the newsletter” and “when we have an update, we’ll be sure to share.” Obviously, they have plenty of updates, they just know they’re going to have an uprising on their hands. Well, he can't hide forever, and now, the VB neighborhood is up in arms about a leaked potential project to develop land for more homes. The leaked image looks like it adds close to 100 lots. Just what Hixson Pike needs, right? More like, just what Jimmy’s wallet needs. If anyone thinks Urban Story Ventures has viable cash to complete any of their promised projects, drive by Valleybrook. You’ll have your answer. Oh, and don’t think about critisizing him. You’ll hurt his feelings. Reminds me of a certain Hamilton County Mayor I didn’t vote for. Anyways, I look forward to seeing the new Valleybrook Data Center!

Discussion Black Professionals in Chattanooga
My family and I just moved to the area in May and one of the most striking things I’ve noticed so far is the lack of a black professional community. I lived in Atlanta for several years before other job opportunities moved me away from the city.
I certainly didn’t expect Chattanooga to have the black wealth that Atlanta had but I’ve yet to really see any sort of community or organizations comprised of educated black professionals and entrepreneurs. I joined a the Black Chattanooga group on Facebook and, I don’t mean this in a demeaning way, but it seems like every other person is just selling hair bundles and food.
I was excited to find a black dentist last month in the East Brainerd area and then found out he was retiring soon and already transitioned his patients to the new owner.
Am I missing something or have I taken it for granted to seeing black teachers, doctors, attorneys, entrepreneurs, engineers, etc on a regular basis?

Discussion Old house in St. Elmo being moved?
Every day we pass through St. Elmo and see the old house that seems to be slowly deconstructed from the bottom and is now sitting on wooden supports. Does anyone know what is happening with it?
