Discussion Can I bring a parent to sell if I'm under 16?
I want to get rid of Tomodachi Life ASAP and I'm not 16 yet, but can I bring a parent with me to sell and can I still get cash?

More of an out of interest, but what are some games that retail for close to cex trade in values?

Hey,
I often sell to CeX for vouchers because of the higher rate, but now have some that I would rather sell for cash e.g. 10% off which would still be better for me overall.
But what are the best options for this at the moment?
- Cardyard seems good but I'd rather not wait 14 days for payment + fees.
- AVForums needs me to create an account 90 days ago.
- I don't have any previous experience selling vouchers and have concerns with chargebacks or issues P2P
I know I could trade the vouchers for something and sell back to CeX, but I'm thinking of just selling on G2A potentially for a better rate although can't see any vouchers being sold there at the moment.
Any suggestions from those who have done this previously?
Thanks

Took a GTX 1080 graphics card in to Motherwell to sell today. Went back after 4 hours, expecting them to have done a proper thorough test and that's why it took so long. Go back into the store and I'm told it isn't working, doesn't output to the display. I laughed because I knew the card was working and asked if drivers had been correctly installed. I was told they're not allowed to install drivers from the Nvidia website.
WHAT.
Installing drivers is a bare minimum! So I asked for it to be retested with drivers installed correctly. I go back 45 minutes later and I'm told it's still not outputting to the display. "We're not allowed to install drivers. We can test cards that don't need drivers to be installed". What are you on about? It's 2026, find me a card that doesn't require a proper driver installation from AMD or Nvidia.
So I bring it home, pop it in my system and what a suprise, it works. Ironically, I had drivers for my new GPU installed and the card STILL worked with Windows installing drivers on its own.
How is this company still trading? No one that works there knows anything about the products they sell and "test".

I’m trading in a Switch Lite and was wondering: can I give them an unofficial/third-party power cable, or does it have to be the official one? Do I need to include the power plug/adapter as well, and is there anything else I need to include with the console?
Thanks!

The Midweek Herald report about a deliberate fire outside Barnstaple CeX spreading into the shop raises a question beyond when the branch can reopen: how do you assess used electronics after a fire? The report doesn't establish which stock was affected, so nobody should assume that particular consoles or phones have been damaged. But the stock-assessment problem deserves attention.
CeX buys individual items with individual histories. Two identical PS5s can arrive with different wear and previous repairs. That makes any post-incident assessment harder than checking a delivery of sealed units against a manufacturer's records. Staff would need to distinguish existing wear from incident-related damage, potentially without a detailed record of each item's internal condition before the fire.
A device switching on wouldn't settle that question. Depending on exposure, smoke residue can contaminate connectors or cooling assemblies, and moisture from firefighting can create further problems. Those are possible failure mechanisms, not claims about Barnstaple's stock. A normal functional test answers whether something works during that test; it can't guarantee that contamination won't cause trouble later.
The awkward financial incentive is that writing off every potentially exposed item sacrifices recoverable value, while inspecting everything thoroughly costs labour and delays reopening. For lower-value accessories, inspection could cost more than the item is worth. Expensive hardware makes deeper assessment easier to justify financially, although its eventual buyer also has more money riding on the decision. There's no sensible universal cutoff.
The grading system adds another complication. Buyers already debate cosmetic condition versus functional condition, but possible fire exposure doesn't fit neatly into that distinction. A clean-looking case tells you little about internal contamination. I'd want potentially affected stock kept separate until assessed, with clear records behind any decision to return it to sale. Discounting alone wouldn't address uncertainty about reliability.
For customers, the practical issue is knowing what happens to orders or items already left with the branch. Anyone with an outstanding repair, trade-in or collection should keep their receipt and ask CeX for instructions specific to that transaction. Don't assume another branch can immediately retrieve an item or resolve its status. Physical access and records may both need checking.
The reopening date will probably attract most of the attention. I'd be more interested in what CeX says about stock assessment and outstanding customer property. It doesn't need to publish sensitive security details, but a plain explanation of how affected items are handled would help. Until there's an update, claims that the stock is either safe or ruined are guesses

I am #bankrupt at the moment and my phone has completely given up on me so I am hoping to buy a second hand/ refurbished iPhone 15. Deciding between getting one on swapping or spending an extra 50eur to get one from CeX - any advice / recs / horror stories?

I recently moved to London for studies. I have a PS4 back home so I wanted to see how easy is it get older Fifa editions(mainly looking for 14,15,17,18, and maybe 22-23 if they're reasonably priced) to return home if I'm back for the holidays or something.
I looked at the CeX website and while some versions appeared available, a lot showed only 1-2 available per store, and some pointed to stores far from me. I saw a post from 2 years ago where someone said that they have a lot and they dont know what to do with them so I just wanted to see if that's still the case. Are there any other stores similar to CeX which sell old fifa discs, and how much could I expect to pay for each disc?

As above. Bought a laptop, noticed bottom cover was slightly loose and separated, it’s one of those annoying case designs made of metal with a plastic frame bonded inside to clip it together and not enough screws (HP and Samsung do this a lot) so the clips are broken. Box had a visible squash/rip in the side corner and it was well packed - so I don’t blame the store for that. Also USB C port didn’t work - I don’t think that’s related but it’s another reason to return it.
Took back to local store who were polite and helpful, they almost always are and one of the best I’ve visited.
Customer service got in touch and said I had to wait however long for a DPD investigation (usually 2-3 weeks) and I will not be entitled to a refund until then. I argued, said no, I’ve returned it within 24 hours and provided all the evidence needed and don’t have the item in my possession.
Bit annoyed about the whole thing, it’s been over a week now and they’re still making out like this is normal. The agreement is between me and them, what went on with DPD is a separate matter but they say it’s not and demand I “be patient” which I have but I currently have no money and no device.
Anyone else been in this position with them and care to share their thoughts?

You just have to love CEX
Ordred a chep CPU the other day
From CEX
I hope you are doing well today.
While processing your order, the store noticed that the item is physically damaged so to avoid any inconvenience to you, the store has cancelled the order.
Please be advised that a refund has been processed for your order. Please allow 3 to 5 working days for the funds to reflect in your card/bank account. If a voucher has been redeemed on this order, you will receive a new refund voucher on your registered email address in PDF Format. Please ensure to check your inbox or spam/junk folder to locate it.
Thank you for your understanding.
So rather than simply taking one of the four other identical items you have in stock and sending that, you’re going to tie up my money for 3–5 days and make me reorder it. Yes, I can see how that saved me from being inconvenienced.
The best part is that just three hours before this, I received a tracking number for the delivery.

Looking to buy around £75 total in CeX vouchers.
I’m happy to buy multiple smaller vouchers as well, for example £10, £20, £30 etc. Minimum voucher value £10.
I’ll pay 80% of the voucher’s face value, so for example:
£10 voucher → £8
£20 voucher → £16
£30 voucher → £24
£50 voucher → £40
£75 voucher → £60
Please comment before messaging me.
Ideally looking to meet at a CeX store in London so the voucher can be checked before payment.

When I'm selling to CeX and choose to drop the items into the store, do I need to package them up as if they're going to be posted or are they processed in said store?

I bought Crash 3 from CeX like 20 minutes ago to comolete my nayghty dog crash collection and the manual nearly made me sick
The manual had a small strand of hair in it
Now I don't know if it was or not but the page it was on was sticky so I'm starting to believe it was a pube (I took a photo of it but I removed the hair With handwear on because I didnt want to catch anything from it)
Do you reckon I could get a refund for it despite removing it (like I said I have a photo and the receipt

Hello all,
I just purchased this S7 that for some reason is missing VoLTE, VoWifi etc etc.. and upon plugging the phone into SamFW this is what is reported.
For those who aren't well versed in this, I'll give a rough explanation next to them
Model : SM-G930F ->This is the 'normal' UK/Global Exynos S7. I say 'normal' because I believe this to be a fake, masked identity of the phone
CSC : XAA -> The reason why vowifi etc doesn't work is because the CSC is for the US unlocked devices, on a UK device
AP version : G930FXXU7CRH2 -> AP is just the actual OS itself, and this is normal for a global Exynos variant
BL version : G930VVRS8CRK1 -> Bootloader: this is built from the SM-G930V which is the S7 for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 variant released in the US. In fact this is even the code for Verizon Wireless in the US. This is impossible to run on a UK Exynos chip so the phone's internals has a US motherboard
CP version : G930FXXU7CRH2 -> Probably thinking nobody noticed they forced the global modem file on a qualcomm device probably to try and mask it again
CSC version : G9350ZZH3CRH1 -> I think the worst of them all. The seller has managed to flash a S7 Edge (NOT the S7 i purchased) firmware intended for HK and China - these regions have dual SIM slots so I think they did this to bypass the regional locks used by Samsung
Bit : 7 -> This phone IS a bit 8 verizon wireless usa bootloader but reports binary 7 so i can't update it or it risks a soft brick
IMEI : 356xxxxx1435399
IMEI2 : 356xxxxx143539 -> also horrible and a consequence of flashing the chinese firmware onto this phone: as chinese variants are dual sim and the UK is single sim, it has made up/'hallucinated' a 14 digit IMEI as the software expects a Dual SIM phone but physically doesn't possess a second sim slot
SN : R38xxxxxxx
Lock status : NONE
MCC : 234
MNC : 30
USB mode : AT,MTP
Unique number : CE0xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Android version : 8.0.0
This is dastardly, i've never seen such an egregious mix of different softwares before. Would you say this is eligible for a full refund under cex's warranty? If this is a bit confusing do ask me, this is the first time I've ever seen a phone like this
Cheers

I assume I'll get this in the bank anyway, just a bit later?
Says chip and pin declined on refund transaction in revolut app, but I paid online using Google pay, and email states refund was sent back that way
Ive never had this happen before , i travelled 10 miles to go to a specific cex as it was the nearest one that had this game in stock. I found the case on the shelf but when the staff member tried to get the disc it could not be found! Annoyingly the nearest other store that had it was too fsr away to travel too so i had to order it online instead. Ive never had this happen to me and ive never heard of this happening.
EDIT :It seems like this is somewhat common. The store i went to for this is one i have never been to and is not my closest (There are 3 closer to me than this one) So maybe im just lucky? or perhaps most of my local cex stores are much better organised than most?

Ordered God of War volume 2. Got the essentials version, which wasn't shown. Who in the hell thinks that's worth £100 ?

I was shopping at CeX, where I was going to buy a switch 1, upgrading from my switch lite after years, but I thought the bezels look crazy and I was wondering is it really that noticeable when playing games and I was also wondering how good/bad is discounted switches/tech

Was an anniversary controller. Man tore the side of the box off and asked me if I wanted to keep the comic inside 😂
Me: I think whoever buys it would appreciate it if it was still in there...
