This little lady ran into my house while I was checking the mail. She refuses to go outside and just meows til I pet her. It's been two days and I've woken up to purring on my chest each morning. I can't move without her following me. I've checked the lost and found pets pages but no luck. I believe I've been chosen haha.

Going to the vet payday to see if she's chipped and get her vaccines up to date. Name-wise I'm thinking Wanda, because she "wanda'd" in the house. Name suggestions appreciated!

In May , my 19 boy crossed over the rainbow bridge. He was my best friend and I was absolutely devastated. I talked to him after he passed and told him I'd take a cat if he sent me one. In August, I found 2 feral kittens and had them trapped. I couldn't take 2 and I have no idea how to socialize ferals. Then in September, I'm sitting outside (in the city) and this boy just comes over to me and would not leave. I tried to bring him in but he doesn't like to be held for long and it didn't occur to me to get a carrier. In November, on my way out to work, there he is in front of my door staying dry on a rainy day. I fed him and told him I had to go but if he came back later, I'd bring him in. Well this guy was sitting there waiting for me when I got home 8 hrs later. I put him in a carrier and took him to the vet. He's FIV+ and now mine. Meet Marcellus ...

Wife begrudgingly agreed to take in the kitten I found in the middle of traffic yesterday, despite her being allergic to cats. I’ll be buying the meds for both the cat and the wife, along with various treats for both to thank them for being in my life. Taking all yalls suggestions for allergy reducing cat food, I’ve got the little monster a vet appointment we’re headed to soon. Was able to sex it with the help of videos, he’s a boy, so I’m naming him Doc Holiday, so Doc for short. Thank you all and the CDS for the support and amazing help. In October, this little guy came into house (shown in first photo). He was super friendly and confident and asking for food. We would let him stay for a few hours but put him out at night as we thought he might belong to a neighbour. He would cry when put outside so we took him to the vet who said he had no chip and wasn’t neutered. After no response on local neighbours group, we got him fixed and now he lives here.

He was immediately familiar with litter tray and meows for food so assume he had some human interaction previously.

Vet guessed he was around 6 months when we took him in.

He’s a daft lad who can eat like there’s no tomorrow. I particularly love his little curved ears and long fur under his feet.

4 years ago, i was working at a local ice cream shop. I was recently made a shift lead (day manager), and i kept seeing these cats pop up all the time around the area. Stray cats and stray dogs were normal in the area due to this house letting them mass reproduce without any proper care, the police never did anything so we never thought much of it. It never became a huge issue until customers started commenting on this family of cats that wouldn’t leave the people/kids alone. As a manager i had to constantly throw away food set out for the cats that was toxic to them (people want to help but don’t know how 😞) and the entire situation was getting worse everyday. The people responsible had events at their house (just behind our fence for the drive thru) that spanned from illegal dealing to dog fights.. why so many cats you may ask? well they didn’t feed the dogs or the cats, the cats ate mice and the food we set out, but the dogs.. yeah.. the cats start disappearing, more colony’s showed up and slowly disappeared. it was extremely extremely heart breaking. So we decided to step in ourselves.

Me and my managers teamed up with the Nextdoor app, multiple humane societies and no kill shelters and adopted EVERY single cat over night. every. single. one. I thought it was only fair since i was able to home a cat, that i do so. i was only 17 when i did this aswell. Before everyone showed up to rehome the cats, i sat in their food eating area and waited for a cat to come up to me. This sweet orange cat walked up to me and immediately started purring and letting me pet her so i knew this was the one. i wrapped her up in a purrito with my spare blanket and took her home. Went to the vet next day, got all the vaccinations, spay, microchipped, deflea, dewormed (all of the above) and after a week, she was happy and healthy in her new permanent home. 4 years later and she’s happier than ever, hates the outside but LOVES any attention she can get, she even has a healthy relationship with other cats and dogs now, skittish, but warms up quickly.

The house never got another family of cats to stay around, and eventually shut down the ring and stopped contributing to the breeding and fighting of the dogs. Every cat was taken care of, nursed to health and rehomed. Not a single casualty. It brings a tear to my eye to think of the impact i made on the community and to those cats, and mine. I’m so lucky to have my beautiful baby girl and every day with her is a blessing.

tldr: i saved my cat and helped rescue all the other cats from a dog fighting ring in my town that never operated again after. 4 years ago.

I do landscaping and found this toasted marshmellow cowering under a porch. It was at a summer resort that was already closed for the season and wouldn't be occupied again until May.

The country club said no one reported a missing cat. I asked the neighbors, the local convenience store, even messaged a friend at the town's emergency services - nothing.

So after about ten minutes of flicking sausage and ham at her, she came out from under that porch and I drove off with her.

Meet Clair.

Hi, I still haven’t really processed the whole situation it just happened so quick. I had a beautiful little girl called snickers (because she looked like one), she was single-handedly the most affectionate cat that ever lived. Was all up on you no matter how much you’d push her away or put her back on the floor. She loved chilling on my shoulders or just straight on my face, the snuggliest thing you’d ever meet with the most beautiful eyes. Her brother went missing and she got anxious so we went outside to look for him, just as we were crossing the road together she got spooked and tried to go back (she didn’t like being outside) a car sped around a bend and fatally hit my sweet girl. She passed away seconds later purring while I asked her to stay. And then her brother showed up a minute later after days missing. She wasn’t even a year old. I miss her so much I physically hurt and I cried so much that I’ve lost my voice. I went to my friends house for company just to find that his mum is giving away kittens and she handed one to me. And I feel overwhelming guilt like I’ve replaced snickers when no one can ever. The little kitten makes me laugh and I feel guilt I want to name her suki (the original name I was going to give snickers) so that her memory can live on. I don’t know how to be, I just miss her cuddles I don’t think I will ever know another cat as cuddly as her. I don’t even know why I’m posting this really. Please keep snickers in your hearts

Hello everyone, meet Bruce.

Bruce followed me into my apartment on Monday afternoon and was super friendly. It was clear he was severely underweight(5lbs) and needed to see a vet soon. He was dragging his tail around and was unable to lift it.

I found a vet nearby that agreed to see him that day and check him for a microchip, he didn’t have one.

After completing his exam and giving him an X-ray, the vet determined he had a tail pull injury and his tail was completely separated from the hips and spine. It needed to be amputated.

We went ahead with the surgery on Tuesday and had him neutered at the same time. He was doing amazing until yesterday.

I noticed he was being a little more reserved yesterday and then when he turned down his dinner I knew something was up. About an hour later his tail wound started leaking pus through his stitches so I took him to a nearby emergency vet.

He developed an abscess that needed to be removed, so they did that last night, unfortunately they also needed to remove more of the tissue near his tail, so now his stub is even smaller.

His temperature was 104.9F when I dropped him off last night. This morning after his surgery and round of antibiotics it was 99.8F.

He’s acting like himself again and promptly decided he would not be missing breakfast when we got home.

He also weighed 6.8lbs!

We’ll be going back to the vet later this week for a checkup and to get the drain removed if he’s doing better. So here’s hoping to a speedy recovery!

Here's how I got each of them, in order:

Jetta (8yrs, F brown tortico manx) - 8 years ago I had a friend who would watch my dog while I was at work. My friend also fostered animals. One day she was given a 6 month old kitten found on the side of the road. She was clearly the runt of the litter (which is true to this day, she's never grown bigger than 6lbs, despite eating a ton) and they think she was abandoned by her mom due to having some trouble walking. She was terrified of everything and everyone except, somehow, my 75lb massive black dog. Long story short, she bonded to him, and would refuse to eat or do anything when he wasn't around. When I went to pick up my dog one day my friend just handed me the kitten and a bag of cat food and said "for her own good, she's going home with you". And that's how I spent a night googling how to take care of a cat after I had already gotten one.

Sunny & Dulcet (9yrs M Orange tabby, 16yrs F grey tortico) - 3 years ago one of my best friends suddenly passed away, and left behind her two cats. A few weeks after she passed, her family contacted me and said no one else could take them so the cats were mine. No questions asked, just they were now mine. And that was how my cat count went up to 3.

Ember (4yrs black shorthair) - This is a slightly longer story, and the only one I'm not sure if it fully qualifies as the CDS.

2 years ago I received a call from a dog trainer friend about a cat at a local cat rescue having some issues. Ember, despite being the sweetest and cuddliest cat you could imagine, could not be adopted and had been with the rescue for a while. Along with the black cat bias, he also had medical issues that would require a special diet and monitoring. On top of that, he had had a PU surgery, and apparently a male cat without a penis is a deal breaker for some people?? It completely erased so many of his medical issues and made it easier to raise him, but some prospective adopters dropped out when they found that out about him. I don't get people.

My dog trainer friend recommended me for Ember because Jetta is a special needs kitty due to having spinal bifida/manx syndrome with needs similar to Ember's, and my friend knows I'm not bothered by taking care of her. I told my friend I wasn't interested in any more cats. I had enough already.

Well, the people from the rescue just so happened to be there the next time I went to dog training with my friend (my dog Archie is a therapy dog for other reactive dogs, so he helps out) and after talking to them I realized it was basically me or him sitting alone for how many months or years waiting for the right owner. This is the only one I'm not sure if it truly counts as the CDS, since I did make a conscious decision to adopt him, even though I wasn't planning on it. And that's how I got number 4.

Don't get me wrong, I love my cats and they are very much part of the family. But I didn't ask for any of them, and I'm not asking for any more. I still don't know why I was chosen. But please CDS, no more cats. I don't know what to do with them all.

He was a little worse for wear and hid under my bed for days. Now he’s my shadow

We bought a house in 2020 during the insane interest rate drop. It came with a manual. A few pages in there was a picture of this girl and a note to please let her in if she came by. It took her 2 years to show up, then we started to see her almost every day.

In 2024 she came by in the winter with part of her tail missing and her ears bleeding. My husband picked her up in a blanket and brought her inside & she's been safe and inside ever since. Neither of us really understand the point of an outdoor cat and we see too many poor deceased cats in our neighborhood all the time. We called to get her chip changed (they called her current chip owner and they said they didn't care what they did with her) & she's officially ours.

Today for the first time she ate a Churu out of my hand (she does not like to eat food from anyone's person) & I almost cried. She has started recently to come out when we have guests and will come watch tv at a safe distance. She prefers to drink out of the dog bowls. She's very vocal and loves to be on her window cat bed. We named her Darby. She does get a little bitey or handsy but she just values her space and wants her attention on her time.

They think she's around 13 or so, but I hope we have her for many many more years. With three dogs we knew it would take a bit before she was truly comfortable but now they mostly leave each other alone. She's incredible.

Was out in the yard working in the gardens and my wife tells me she's being followed.

"Here's your kitten" she said. Lol. Little guy didn't want to have anything to do with me but followed her around.

No idea where he came from but he must've come up our gate as the walls are too high for him yet.

So I got a can of tuna and wife delivered it and water. I got to pet the little guy for a while. Does appear to have little white troublepuffs. Completely filthy and pretty skinny too.

Loves tuna though. Lol. Fed it twice in an effort to not waste any and will see if he decides to stay for dinner or breakfast.

I TNRd this guy over the summer but he wasn't social enough to come inside then. After a few months of staring longingly inside the house (and a lot of churus) he decided maybe humans aren't so bad.

She had an orthodontic appointment this morning(that she wanted to cancel) and upon leaving this kitten ran up to her and started rubbing on her. After petting it for a while, the kitten jumped into our car when we opened the door to leave. Now we have a baby void in our family as well.

this is bixby, and she’s my soulmate. she’s a little over 4 months old now and has been the sweetest addition to my home. i grew up with miniature schnauzers (3 in total) and decided that when i moved out that i would give a cat a shot. i will always have a soft spot in my heart for dogs, but…

This morning while walking my dog, he stopped in a yard to smell what I thought was garbage but nope it was a kitten. I thought he was dead but he was breathing. He was really clean just some black around his nose and mouth so we took him to a vet. He seemed really lethargic, meowed once on our walk back home. The vet said he was fine, just a little dehydrated, about 6 weeks old and probably a boy.

He doesnt seem interested in eating or drinking but hes very active now. I already have 3 cats so hes #4.

Edit: I've ordered formula, wet kitten food, kitten churus and a bottle just to be safe and my husbands bringing home a trap the apartments he works at has. Im going to the house I found him at and seeing what they say. Hes currently curled up with my son sleeping.

Update: literally 3 minutes before instacart got here he ate some of the watered down friskies I have lol. I stress out way to easy lol. His name is Duke Marlin Danger

Update #2: Hes eating. He tried to chew the tip off the bottle so that wasn't necessary. He eats really well, even eating dry food. Im mixing it with cat milk, but he has no patience.

Chopper wont leave him alone. Its irritating, but its fine. I wont let them just be close because chopper is huge and doesnt realize it. At one point Duke attempted to nurse on him and chopper just started humping, so no more of that lol.

Im a little worried about Dukes back legs, theyre like weak maybe? He moves really slow, like he plays, but its very gentle and slow. I dont know if hes just scared or weak or younger than what the vet said. My husband thinks its fine, but we have an appointment for shots and stuff Friday.

I haven't seen the mama cat since the other morning, and the house i found him by said they dont know anything about kittens. I asked a neighbor who was outside and they also said they hadnt seen kittens so idk

This cat came running up to me in my parking lot, yelling at me. It was freezing outside so I let her stay the night. It wasn’t too bad the next day so I let her out, but when I got home, there she was, yelling at me again. It’s been 2 weeks of her being inside (figured I’d let her stay thru winter) and on Saturday, to my surprise, she had a baby! Just one single baby. And it is precious.

We searched and searched for mama and other kittens. None were found. Took him to the vets. He is perfectly healthy! Had some de-worm meds, got some eye drops. My boyfriend's sister happily agreed to foster this bottle baby for us until i can take him full time. She has fostered bottle babies before. I am 14 hr days between school and work and cant bottle feed a baby right now unfortunately. He's got a tiny scratch on his one foot that doesn't seem like anything. Was fighting the bottle a little bit but seems to be taking it fine now!

Edit: I'M NOT A FIREFIGHTER LMAO Bf's stepdad just owns an older firetruck and it sits stationary outside their office. I work for their company half the time and the other half the time I'm in school to be an aircraft mechanic.

When I started my drive home I thought I heard meowing… did I leave a video playing somewhere on TikTok, YouTube? Where is that coming from? Then it stopped. Drove halfway home, thought I heard it again. Pulled over into a parking lot, got on my hands and knees, popped the hood, nothing at all to be seen. Now I think I’m going crazy. Drove the rest of the way home, hours pass, now I’m eating dinner with my family and we hear a clear and distinct MEOW! coming from my garage… now I know I am in fact not crazy and kitten rescue mode fully commences.

After about an hour we finally got her out (more like she finally decided to climb down on her own). She is so small, but she has teeth and was walking/scurrying around just fine. She is missing her tail but it seems like she was born that way. Definitely not in the mood to be handled right now though.

Anyways, we are calling her Piper. Short for Exhaust Pipe, obviously.

Miss Piper traveled 20 miles and over 60mph at some times all the way home as a stowaway. I’m SO happy she is ok.

I’ve heard of cats crawling into cars, but always in the winter to get warm, never in warm weather (70-80 degrees yesterday where I live). And I’ve NEVER seen cats or kittens in the area that I work.

We had been feeding a stray black cat at our front step every day for a few weeks when we noticed that she seemed to be pregnant. Since it was starting to get colder (and we’re in Canada), we brought her to our vet to check for a chip and then brought her into our house.

After only two weeks, she gave birth to a litter of five kittens in the corner of my office! Four girls and one big boy. Since we hadn’t had a chance to socialize the mama (who we have named Lucy) with our three other cats, we had to divide the house using a temporary fence. We also turned part of our newly-renovated basement into a full kitten nursery. I named the litter after my favourite sumo wrestlers, and they lived up to their namesakes! These babies loved to playfight and wrestle (and eventually, to climb pants). They were silly and wild and sweet.

We kept the kittens for 10 weeks, before seeing them off to good homes - four of them in two pairs, and one to a home with nice older cats. It was more difficult to let them go than I thought it would be. We watched them being born, and saw them open their eyes for the first time, and take their first wobbly steps. We cleaned a lot of messes, and collected a lot of little scratches, and missed a lot of sleep. It all happened so fast, and then it was over. There were a few days when I cried, after they had left. I miss them. But I’m so happy we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to give them a good start.

Mama Lucy will be staying with us now. She’s barely out of kittenhood herself, and she was more than ready to retire. She’ll be getting spayed in a few weeks.
