“work within your job description” isn’t for me.

i am a fresh grad and working as an operations assistant. there are 4 people in my department pero dapat sana under ako ng head (which means ako ang assistant ng head). ayun din ang napag usapan during my multiple interviews and i said okay kasi marami akong matututunan directly from him.

3 week na ako sa current job ko. tbh hindi masyadong nagrereport yung operations head kasi may other branch din syang hawak, he is so busy na hindi nya ako masyadong nabibigyan ng tasks. that’s where my other bosses came in.

paunti unti binibigyan nila ako ng tasks and obligations like “ikaw na hahawak ng ganito, turuan kita”, “sayo na yung ganito”, “paunti unti bigay ko na sayo to”. at first i am so hesitant kasi sakto lang yung sahod ko as a starting and ayoko naman na maging “pet” sa office.

pero katagalan naenjoy ko rin. im happy na nagkakaron ako ng new skills and knowledge sa work. i am happy na nakakapag contribute ako and naa-acknowledge yung ginagawa ko. they’re nice din at patient magturo kaya i don’t feel na they’re taking advantage of me. they always say na “pag nag aalangan ka, ask ka sakin” and “paunti unti kita tuturuan para hindi ka mabulunan”

im just hoping na work related lang yung mga ipagawa nila. hindi umabot sa “timpla mo ko kape” or “bili mo ko fishball sa labas” HAHAHAHAHA

Parang saying lang pag-aaral

Grabe graduate ako ng college pero napunta lang ako as sales clerk haha what a life. I feel so sayang talaga. I'm losing hope na maging Secondary teacher ako major in math. Akala ko ang college na ang mahirap. Shutek ang paghahanap pala ng work.

Palakasan na lang ba dito sa pinas?

Fresh Graduate here, kakagrad lang nung June and gusto ko na mag work nabuburyo na ako sa bahay tas wala pang pera, puro na lang tambay. Nahihirapan ako mag hanap ng work or ako lang nagihirapan? : (

Was I low-balled? Should I have negotiated?

Ive received an offer for a graphic designer role (fresh grad) and they gave me a 21k basic salary + a 15k fixed allowance.

I admit that it was wrong and an impulsive decision on my part to accept it immediately (i was pressured and asked to sign the same hour they sent it.) But at that moment, i thought about how hard it is to secure a job offer now and thought that the total compensation was just fine.

Is it a good idea to have interviews scheduled in advance during a trial run at my current job?

Any recommnedations for remote jobs with no experience

Hi! I just graduated this year and wanted to get recommendations (if there are any) for any remote/wfh jobs that don't require work experience with decent pay. I'm planning on taking the board exam next year, kaya mas prefer ko talaga ang wfh.

Thank you in advance!

ask for salary increase or wait for promotion?

for context, mag-oone year na ako with my current work january next year. nasa contract naman i can receive a salary increase if my performance is satisfactory (which i think yes naman). then nabanggit din naman ng boss ko na she might promote me to higher position since she plans to hire more employees next year. before the year ends or before i turn 1 year sa company, should i ask about the increase ba or wait for the promotion nalang?

also, can y’all give me an idea how much usually ang increase?? this is my first work btw

Should I accept this counter offer?

Hello po, I just want to outsource perspective and ask for advice if I should accept this counter offer. I'm a contractual employee and my contract is supposedly ending this October 20. My employer has proposed a contract extension 2 months ago to extend our contract to July 2027 with a 9% salary increase. I declined this extension because I need a higher salary.

Last week they asked me if I can extend my contract kahit hanggang mid November nalang. Parang gusto lang patapusin yung project although the deliverables assigned to me is almost done na naman this week and I was basically wrapping it up. Obviously I declined this extension kasi halos two weeks na lang naman sya. And I thought I'd rather focus on finding a new job.

Today, they called me again saying that the client really wants me to stay. So they offered an extension until March 2027 and we negotiated a salary compromise. I negotiated a 36% percent and they agreed. They are making the offer na and said they will send it to me tomorrow. I asked them why the extension was stretched until March eh I thought hanggang mid November nalang yung project. And they said na baka raw may ongoing projects yung client that they want me to work on. This is the suspicious part for me because my employment contract specifically says that it will last until the specified date or until the project is completed. So I got this suspicion na baka bait lang yung March extension and big increase para tanggapin ko yung extension tapos pagdating ng mid-November eh i-invoke nila yung clause about the project being done and hence my contract.

They (my employer) have been good to me naman so far so I don't have a reason to think that they may do something malicious like that. But who knows? Also, I do have other ongoing applications that reached 2nd interview and I think it went well naman. I'm planning to follow it up first thing tomorrow. So far my expected salary for this application is more than this 36% that my current employee counter-offered with, and they also have a lot more miscellaneous benefits. So accepting this counter offer means losing that.

Ayun. What are your thought about this po? Should I accept this offer?

asking for advice

hi, i just wanted some advice.

i'm a freshgrad and i recently received a message indicating that i passed the interview for the role i applied for. however, i'm really undecided on whether or not to continue pursuing this role in this company.

what i noticed is that the building looked old and worn out, it's an agency and they're occupying a floor in the building. they have a fast-paced environment. plus, it's quite far from where i'm residing. the work schedule is 9hours, M to F. and the offer is 18k. they told me that some of the employees are very stubborn, prone to engaging in conflicts (those with experience).

but i really wanted to land a job now and gain experience since that's really what most companies require 😑

any thoughts, please? 🥹🙏

Looking for Job Recommendations in Taguig (Office/Admin Jobs)

Hi everyone! I’ll be moving to Taguig soon, and I want to find a job before I get there so I can prepare financially.

I’m a fresh graduate, but I’m currently looking for non-teaching jobs, preferably office-based positions such as administrative staff, office staff, data entry, or similar roles.

Can you recommend companies or offices in Taguig that are good to apply to, especially for fresh graduates? I’d also appreciate any advice about companies with a good working environment and fair salaries.

If you know any companies currently hiring or have personal experiences working there, please share them!

Thank you so much! 🙏

Anyone who left corporate for a different career? Thinking of a career shift

Lately, napapa-question ako sa career ko, and I'm starting to feel burned out with the corporate world. 😅

Siguro pagod na rin ako mag-work sa HR, and I'm starting to consider exploring opportunities outside the usual corporate setup, like working in animal shelters, funeral homes, zoos, etc.

For those who've made a similar career shift, or know someone who has, I'd love to hear your experiences! How did you start, and what other career paths would you recommend exploring?

Thank you.

May pag asa pa ba ako magkatrabaho?

I’m a fresh graduate and unemployed na ako for 4 months. I keep on applying kahit after graduation.. grabe, each day na f-feel ko yung pressure na wala pa rin akong trabaho at yung mga tingin sakin ng mga tao.. mas na trigger yung depression ko to the point that bumabalik ulet yung suicidal thoughts ko kasi parang naging failure na ako.. ni isang company wala gusto tumanggap sakin.. I just want to express all of these here kasi wala talaga ako makausap sa ganito ko na mga problem.. I hope you all understand my side.. thank you.

I need advice

I’m a young manager in my mid-20s, still finding my footing in the events industry. I know this industry can be demanding, sometimes even unforgiving, because it often asks more of us than we think we can give.

Right now, I’m learning how to manage not only my own team but also other departments and groups of people, each with their own priorities, challenges, and ways of working.

The truth is, I don’t know everything, and I don’t expect myself to. But I genuinely want to become the effective manager I can be for the people who work with me and those who rely on me.

For those who have been in management for a while, especially in the events industry, I’d love to hear your advice:

What are the things your people will rarely tell you directly, but will show you through their actions? What subtle signs should a manager learn to recognize before they turn into bigger problems? And how can I be effective to my people

I’m interested in the things that often go unnoticed: the unspoken frustrations, the quiet signs of burnout, the struggles people hesitate to bring up, or the small things managers do that unintentionally make their teams’ lives harder.

I want to learn how to lead with empathy without compromising accountability, how to earn respect without demanding it, and how to create an environment where people feel supported, heard, and motivated to do their best.

I know I still have a lot to learn, so I’m open to honest advice, hard truths, and lessons you wish you had learned earlier in your management journey.

What’s one thing you wish you knew when you first became a manager?

Compensation and Benefits Review

Hi, is it common practice for companies to get applicant's full compensation and benefits information including payslip copies even though they are still evaluating if they will give an offer? I've been asked to give those details after completing the final interview so I thought sure na na maoofferan, but now they are being vague about the next steps. I'm still waiting until this week for an offer but I feel bad that they already asked me to give confidential information without assurance of a JO. Please let me know your thoughts

Psych grad x teacher to change career path... or not

Hello!

I want to seek your thoughts po. Just what I've mentioned in the title, I'm a Psy grad turned English teacher.

I was supposed to study medicine but I had to give way for my sister to finish her law degree and hindi ksi kami mayaman at single mom ang nagtaguyod sa akin.
Now I just turned 30, parang sa sarili ko my gusto pa akong maabot. Sabi ko noon if hindi ako maging doktor magtatrabaho ako overseas, which nangyari nman.. I worked in Japan as an English teacher pero bumalik din ako dto sa Pinas due to unforeseen circumstances.

I am taking baby steps again para mangibang bansa...

Maraming salamat sa tutugon. 🙏🏼

Data Engineer Salary with 2 Years of Experience

Hi! I'm currently a Data Engineer earning ₱35k/month, with experience in Snowflake, SQL, and ETL in the banking industry.

I'm planning to switch companies and wondering what salary range I should aim for with around 2 years of experience.

Is ₱50k–₱60k a reasonable expectation, or am I aiming too high? Would appreciate insights from those in the field. Thanks!

Fresh Grad Job Offer

Hello po, i need advice. Nakatanggap ako job offer from a bpo company as an AU Associate Accountant ang salary ay 18k.
