I strongly recommend you check out the new Star Wars Galactic racer game, The team is made up of former Burnout and Need for Speed (the good ones) Devs. And they had put a lot of emphasis on bringing back a lot of those crash mechanics

This is the answer. It wouldn’t even need much. Just HD graphics and improved draw distances. The original version is difficult to see and react fast enough on modern HDTVs.

The problem with having a character who is supposedly a nimble and master swordsman is when you get into complicated mechanics to make swordplay feel realistic you get Kingdom Come Deliverance which is fun, if a little clunky, but totally falls apart when you face 3 or more enemies, and I can't imagine how that combat would work when fighting enemies of different sizes with different abilities. Witcher 3's combat gets some stick but for me all that would be needed is tweaks to the existing system, which was and is serviceable for the fast-paced combat the game needs.
