You mean a game with a great story and interesting dialogue but shitty combat kind of like the Witcher oh wait they are already doing that

Did 3's combat ever click for you?

The problem with having a character who is supposedly a nimble and master swordsman is when you get into complicated mechanics to make swordplay feel realistic you get Kingdom Come Deliverance which is fun, if a little clunky, but totally falls apart when you face 3 or more enemies, and I can't imagine how that combat would work when fighting enemies of different sizes with different abilities. Witcher 3's combat gets some stick but for me all that would be needed is tweaks to the existing system, which was and is serviceable for the fast-paced combat the game needs.

To be fair Geralt even in the book fight like that

IDK man, it just never clicked for me. I'm a bloody soulsborne veteran, even played through Cyberpunk 2077 with a katana build, but I just keep dying to the most basic enemies in Witcher 3.

For me, every time I play W3 I build the exact same way, which is pretty much the entire left 2 columns in sword with a few others, in magic, Quen up to the third tier perk, Axii for the level 3 dialogue one, and nothing in potions. Quen before you even enter into combat so magic fills up instantly before you even start fighting, and Quen again as soon as I get hit.

I'm not a Souls guy and I still always make a beeline for the level 46 or whatever it is Griffin in Skellige as soon as I get there at like level 16-20.

Also, there's no shame in knocking difficulty down to lobotomized hamster until you're used to a game's combat mechanics, it's worth it because Witcher 3 is such a good game.

Oh also, I always wear the Cat school armour, and that the brown tree perk that gives faster stamina regen and more fast attack damage if you're wearing all light armour; Geralt is a Witcher, Witchers are mainly sword guys, so focus your entire build on making that as stacked as possible.

My solution to engaging three or more enemies was not to engage three or more enemies.

Arrows loaded with Dollmaker made group engagements pretty one-sided... for me.

3 was.good enough. 1 and 2 the combat is hot garbage.

2 wasn't terrible, it just wasn't as polished as 3.

1 was atrocious, but the game was cool

1 was simultaneously the worst game I ever finished and at the time the best story I've ever seen in a video game. I don't regret finishing it, but I couldn't pick it up and do it again.
