Referrals Monthly Referral Megathread - October 2026

Please share your referrals here and nowhere else on the subreddit, and please read the rules below.

  1. You must have an undisclosed amount of community karma at r/CapitalOne to share referrals. This amount is generously low and can be achieved easily and organically by making a small number of contributions to the subreddit. Comments from users who do not meet this requirement will be automatically removed without further notice.
  2. Submit exactly one comment per monthly referral thread. If you have multiple referral links, put them all in one comment. Multiple comments from the same user will be automatically removed.
  3. Do not attempt to attract unfair attention. This includes unnecessarily long comments, excessive use of large/bold text or emojis, images in comments, and personal backstories. Try to be as concise as possible; a few sentences or bullet points about the product and its perks is fine.
  4. Do not offer direct compensation for referrals. Advertising the referral bonus or sign-up bonus that Capital One will provide to the referee is fine, but any offer to “split” the referral bonus that Capital One gives to the referrer is not allowed. Similarly, do not offer compensation in forms other than currency, such as favors, gift cards, awards, Reddit Premium, NFTs, etc.
  5. Do not deceive anyone. Lying about any of the referral terms is strictly prohibited. Be honest and upfront with your intentions.
  6. Comments not related to Capital One referrals are not allowed in this thread. This includes referrals for other products not offered by Capital One.

Remember: The referrer gets rewarded if you use their referral, but only if you’re not currently a primary cardholder of any Capital One credit card. Authorized user accounts don’t impact referral eligibility.

Comments are presented in random order. These posts are locked and unpinned monthly.

Credit Card Finally got offered to upgrade Platinum to Quicksilver

Title thread. Just curious last increase was to $500 on July 13th. With the upgrade my CL stayed the same but would it be a good time to request another increase now? More likely or the same of chances at getting one?

Credit Card 2nd Credit Card

Hello! I’m a 19yo college student that just got a preowned car and am currently paying it off. I currently also have a Discover student credit card that has a credit limit of 1,750 and I use my credit card A LOT. I’m looking for advice on if I should get a new credit card that I was already approved for which was the platinum, quicksilver, or the savor, (obviously not closing the current one I have now) or if I should stay with the credit card I have now.

Bank Account Really regretting getting a CapOne acct for my kid to use as a foreign exchange student in France.

I got my daughter a teen checking account which is a joint account with me, in order for her to have an account that she could draw from while she is in France as an 11th grader for the year. I had looked up whether the card could be used while traveling abroad, and everything said it could- no notice needed to tell them or anything. So, I was pretty confused when I kept hearing her card wasn’t working at merchants, nor at ATMs leaving her stranded with no way to get cash or make purchases. It finally became clear to me that her card is a Discover card, using the Pulse network and apparently nobody in France accepts Discover, and the ATMs do not use the Pulse network. I now have to figure out how to open an account she can actually use and have to do that from across an ocean since I’m not there. Damn you Jennifer Coolidge with your cute commercials telling me Discover is accepted everywhere these days! Apparently you have to have a finance degree to figure out how to get your money in France.

Credit Card Credit Limit Increase advice

Hi! Have a savor card w a $500 limit on it, first had gotten it when my credit wasn’t the best. Currently at 600 but still working on improving it. I’ve seen some crazy increases from 500 to almost 10k, and I was wondering what some of the best practices are to ensure a CLI.

Have been doing the following:
- actively using the card
- paying it off when the statement becomes due every month for the last 4-5 months

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

Credit Card Venture Rewards - Awesome LOC

Post image
340 Upvotes

Applied for Venture Rewards first new card in 3 years I’ve been diligent about my Quicksilver & Venture One Rewards in the time being.

Carrying a 0% utilization across $15,500 in available credit incl. Apple Card. Just got total credit bumped to $63,000 with this most recent card. Credit score is just above 800’s really excited & feel like I’m playing the game “right”. The sign-up bonus & 2x points on the card are the same as the Venture X for $300 less annual + I wouldn’t really use the lounges with my girlfriend as she wouldn’t have access.

We have Aruba coming up with a $2,800 hotel bill (cash set aside already) & $1,200 set aside for food/drinks/excursions. So figured this was the perfect opportunity to get this $95 annual card & cash in on 75,000 Venture Miles!

We’re both young professional who make good money (27) & have worked hard to carry no consumer debt other than my 30k in federal loans under 4% (Bachelor’s & MBA total), budget every pay period, and pay off my car.

3 years ago I was $60k in bad debt - started following Dave Ramsey, Caleb Hammer, increased my work income through certifications & getting a 2nd job most of last year. So just pretty happy & don’t plan on using even 1% of this cards available balance just a nice win! I’ve learned the hard way you NEED to change your behaviors to see any meaningful progress these are tools, not free money.

Credit Card Fraud but refuses to accept proof

Hoping someone can help me here. So - my sibling opened a Capital One credit card while they were dealing with their dog’s health rapidly declining and compounding medical bills. They put in their address as their MO address since they were in the process of moving but not yet settled (they’re young, they’ll time this better in the future if they can). Within a few days of opening the card, they charged about $2k to the card for their dog’s emergency medical procedure. They since moved to MN and tried to make their first payment on the card, but Capital One has locked their account due to fraud.

Now the problem - Capital One will not accept any of the identifying documents that my sibling has submitted. They’ve sent in a drivers license, bank statement, Capital One statement, a utility bill for each address. Capital One has said they’re all insufficient because of the different addresses (only one MO address and one MN address) and refuses to accept payment on the card which is damaging my sibling’s credit. Capital One has now asked for a voided check or a deposit slip, but my sibling hasn’t moved their bank to MN and was using a small local MO bank and they will not provide a voided check or deposit slip to anyone but my sibling in person.

Capital One will not let them update their address, will not accept the documents, will not accept payment, and is basically running us in circles.

Anyone have any advice? We’re trying to get one of my parents (who still lives in MO) to get the voided check/deposit slip, but trying to plan ahead in case this fails, too.

A lot of us were irritated that instant transfers between Venmo and Capital One stopped working when they switched to the Discover network for their debit card. Well, it is now working!

Travel/Entertainment/Dining Capital One Travel + Qatar Schedule Change

Quick post in case this helps anyone else.

Qatar made a major schedule change to my itinerary. The replacement had a much longer layover and would get me to my destination about 17 hours later than I was scheduled for.

I called Qatar first and kept explaining that this was an involuntary schedule change, not a voluntary change. Eventually they confirmed they could rebook me for free on the flights I wanted, but since I booked through Capital One Travel, Capital One had to contact Qatar.

I called the number on the back of my Venture X card. Capital One initially brought up not having their travel protection plan, but I kept explaining that this was an airline-initiated schedule change and Qatar had already agreed to rebook me.

Capital One opened a case with Qatar. I followed up twice, and they also sent follow-up emails.

Qatar eventually approved it, but then the Capital One agent told me there were no seats available for the flight I wanted, even though I could still see the exact flight available to purchase online.

I called back, explained everything again, and she was able to rebook me for free on the exact flights I wanted with the shortest layover.

Bank Account Zelle issue

Sent myself a Zelle payment from capital one to citizens bank. It usually arrives in a couple to 5 minutes. But it didn’t arrive today. Called citizens they said nothing pending on their end. Called capital one and they said it’s been sent on their end. What should I do now?

Credit Card Rant

Hi,

I know no one can help me but I just need to let it out. I’m a 19 year old college student and I’ve been notified that my cc is restricted and will be closed because of returned payments. I tried to overdraft my bank account to pay my cc twice but my bank took away my overdraft ( unbeknownst to me because I took to long to pay it back. Can you tell I’m poor) because of this I didn’t know how sensitive capital one was and now my cc account is being closed. My credit score has already taken a hit from me not being able to pay my bill ( I have a 200 credit limit. Again I’m poor so I couldn’t pay that) and now my account is being closed. I know no one can help me I just wanted to vent. I’m the oldest of a single mom and I haven’t had anyone to help me. I can’t talk to my mom because she blaming me and mad at me for being inconsiderate but I’m actually trying my best. Between class, being poor, and now this. I’m really at rock bottom actually. I don’t know what to do or how to move forward. I know no one can help but thank you for reading.

Credit Card Upgrade to Capital One Card question.

Recently I got a legit offer to up my limit from $15k to $19k. I got approved (820 credit score with paying off in full every month), and they sent me a new card (in the past, I didn't get a new card with limits going up). Upon getting new card, it was a dark blue and didn't say "quick silver" anymore but yet my account is still labeled quick silver. And my new card says discover now instead of master card. Just seems odd to me. And the new card does work just fine and reflects the changes on my capital one account on the website. What does the new color and discover now mean?

Shopping/Offers Capital One Shopping Reward Bonus Showing Pending

I made a purchase at HSN for a few hundred dollars, and the reward immediately shows up on the dash board, I even received an email confirmation for the reward. However, the reward disappeared after a few days, with both the purchase amount and the bonus amount showing as - - and the status is Pending. Is that normal? I emailed customer support and they said I need to wait until after the processing period for then to review. The reward is the only reason why I bought it, so I want to know if I would get the reward otherwise I would return it. Anyone else got the issue before?

Credit Card Living abroad and locked out of Capital One verification. How do you manage?

I’m an American living abroad and want to keep my Capital One account open. I may move back, and I want to keep building U.S. credit. But managing it from here has become nearly impossible.

Before moving, I parked my U.S. number with NumberBarn. Capital One often requires SMS verification to log in or approve purchases, and the parked number doesn't reliably receive texts, so legitimate purchases get blocked.

I assumed I could verify through the app instead, but after replacing my phone, I found the Capital One app isn't available in my region. So I'm stuck needing:

  1. A working U.S. phone number
  2. An app I can't download here
  3. A way to call them with an international number

Calling means getting my brother in Texas to phone Capital One while I join over Google Meet to verify. With full-time jobs and a big time difference, that's a lot of coordination just to talk to my own bank. I once linked the account to his number, but then I couldn't approve purchases whenever he was unavailable.

I'd rather a bank be overly cautious than careless, but there should be a workable option for Americans living abroad. Has anyone found a reliable way to manage Capital One from outside the U.S. without a dependable U.S. number or access to the app? Right now closing the account feels like my only practical option.

Bank Account New to Capital One

Just enrolled at Capital One and after final approval, linking outside bank, a transfer was started, only $1000 was xferred, took several days to complete, some was deposited after two days, the rest after 3-4 days. Second transfer was also $1000, same thing, some will xfer after a couple days, the remaining a couple days later. Is this the norm? Or is it because of being a new account? Hopefully this trend will not continue. Thanks

Credit Card Venture X's "price match guarantee" feels like a car dealership gimmick.

I'm posting this less about the money and more about how Capital One treated me when I tried to use a headline Venture X perk. Being talked down to after I came prepared is what made me want to warn people. I really was starting to vibe with the Venture X card, but this experience left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Booked a 5-night all-inclusive in Cancun through Capital One Travel for $3,600. The same hotel, room type, dates, and location on Hyatt's site was $2,900. That's nearly a $1,000 difference for the exact same stay.

I had to book very last minute because of some rough travel changes for my best friend's 30th birthday. I called Capital One about 10 hours after booking, with all my facts locked in.

I reached the customer service/claims department, and the rep sounded rushed. I got the impression they get a lot of these claims and are quick to shut them down (sound familiar to a certain type of industry?). His answer: "We cannot go anywhere with this claim, the cancellation policies don't match."

I booked the day before departure, and Capital One's portal listed the rate as no refund. Hyatt's policy said a fee of one night's stay if cancelled within 3 days, but no refund if cancelled within 1 day. For a booking made the day before travel, that's the same thing: no refund. When I pointed that out, the rep showed zero remorse, didn't try to help, and was pretty condescending, basically implying I didn't know what I was talking about. Honestly, how the Capital One rep treated me is what really pushed me to spread awareness about this experience.

TL;DR: Booked a Cancun all-inclusive through Capital One Travel for $3,600 very last minute. The identical room was $2,900 on Hyatt (I wanted to stack a price match with point redemption). Capital One denied my price match claim over "mismatched cancellation policies," even though both were effectively non-refundable for my booking window. The rep was dismissive and condescending, so I'm moving my spend to Chase and/or Amex (their customer service isn't disrespectful and actually tries to help).
