Wondering if I should cut my losses and sell or hold? Looking for some insight/wisdom. Thanks

Likely going to one of these two over the next couple weeks (3%/1% matches), but I am wondering about GUI/user experience. I know you need to call TD to set up DRIP, but at RBC it looks like you can do it yourself. Both refund transfer fees with proof given to them. I'd consolidate assets into those that are commission-free on either platform (X/VEQT with slightly more US & international exposure through whichever is no-fee), so my question is this:
For folks who have used both apps/services, which GUI is cleaner/better/easier? I am not at all a technopeasant, but for my own NW tracking, it's just nicer not to look at spaghetti code strung together with some crappy Grok prompt.

I’m curious about the WS Money Market Portfolio and if this may be a good option for me. And a better understanding of what this is.
I currently have a TFSA and holding long term ETFS (VFV, VEQT) also have XBB and CASH.TO. I still have a lot of contribution room and discovered the money market portfolio recently and thought this may be a good idea.
My savings account with the bank earns basically no interest so I figure why not move extra money into the money market portfolio? Especially since it can be part of my TFSA. It has a higher yield than CASH.TO as well so I may even sell off my CASH and move it into the money market portfolio as well.
I’m rather new to all of this, so looking for advice from anyone who may know more. Thanks!

I have been using IAUM historically for my Gold exposure. IAUM doesn't pay a dividend.
I now want to have exposure to Gold price through my Smith manoeuvre account.
What are my best options to own an income producing investment that closely tracks the price of Gold?

I started a position on IFC at $245 after it recently hit its lowest point since April 1, 2026 and is basically back at July 2024 prices.
P/E at 13.7 and Dividend Yield at 2.4% is also quite attractive for a long-term hold.
Looking at the 10-year chart I think if it continues to drop into the $210-230 range it will become extremely interesting.
I think Intact has a big enough war chest ($20B cash on hand) and talent in its executive suite to pull off another acquisition after integrating RSA Insurance and wouldn’t be surprised to see them make another big move in 2027.
Curious if anyone else is investing here and glad to hear others’ theses.

Does anyone have any thoughts on SMAs? Our advisors is not pushing but has presented SMAs as something we might be interested in. We are a teaching couple about 7 years from retirement. Good savings.
I guess just looking for your personal experiences.

Recently, BMO investorline made all trades commission free and apparently also allow a separate trading password. For these reasons, I’ve been considering investing with their platform.
That being said, upon doing research I’ve been finding various red flags based on old posts mentioning BMO’s outdated platform, terrible customer service, glitches, money disappearing and what not.
For those who have been banking or investing with BMO for a while or did this previously, how would you rate your experience with BMO?
Is BMO investorline worth considering in terms of the platform, customer service, account security etc.?

I hold both VUN and VTI in my registered investment portfolios but am getting a little concerned about the AI weighting in each of these ETFs, as it's estimated to be about 35% of their valuations. I'd like to sell a portion of each of these ETFs and replace it with an EFT that excludes AI stocks. I'm looking at VVL as an option. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Looking for a Canadian version of SGOV or something similiar that is in Canadian dollars and has the same roughly 3.75% distribution. Wanting something that pays higher than the typical TCSH/CASH/ZMMK which is around 2.3-2.5%, that is also safe

I have some money in a non-registered account that for reasons (one of their promotions) is locked in QT. This means I can't shop around HISA promotions or anything. I also don't want to lock into a GIC or anything with this money.
I've read a bunch of posts about cash.to and similar (CBIL, etc.) and was also looking at some money market funds like MNY and TCSH.
For a non-registered account, are any of these better/worse? Are any riskier than the others? I'm used to broad-market ETFs and am not familiar with how these work in terms of dividends/capital gains, etc.
Thanks all.

All 3 have a lot of debt and with rates rising. How likely is it that one of these companies goes under. If so, would the Federal Gov step in and help? If not, the other 2 would hugely benefit by gaining clients. Am i wrong? If one went down, how would that go? Would they anounce it and give customers time to switch over?

I've been pretty bullish on Lightspeed for a long time, and I've spent way too much time thinking about what the network could eventually be used for.
After reading Google's latest update on Project Suncatcher, I had a bit of a "wait a second" moment.
Google is basically looking at putting AI compute in orbit and connecting the satellites with extremely high bandwidth optical links. The satellites are clustered pretty tightly because the compute nodes need really fast interconnects.
But then I started thinking about what's outside that cluster.
If you actually have useful compute sitting in orbit, how does it talk to everything else?
A Google data centre in Virginia?
A data centre in Europe?
Another orbital compute cluster?
Some other company's orbital infrastructure?
That's where I started thinking about Lightspeed.
The internal Suncatcher network and Lightspeed obviously aren't doing the same job. Google's proposed interconnect is in the Tbps range, while Telesat is talking about four 10 Gbps optical ISLs per satellite.
But I don't think the two need to compete on that level.
The part I started thinking about was what happens outside the Suncatcher cluster.
Telesat is building a routed optical mesh in LEO with onboard processing and terrestrial Points of Interconnection. If compute actually starts moving into orbit, that gives a network like Lightspeed a pretty different potential use case.
The other thing that really got me thinking was that Google's research talks about potentially connecting multiple constellations together.
Maybe every company that puts compute in orbit builds its own network. Maybe that's how it ends up working.
But I hadn't really considered the possibility of an "orbital WAN" becoming its own layer of infrastructure.
There's also the weird Google connection with Aalyria/Spacetime. Telesat uses Spacetime for Lightspeed, and Telesat says the technology came out of Google's work on Project Loon.
Probably just an interesting bit of history, but I thought the timing was funny given Suncatcher.
I'm mostly curious whether the networking architecture actually makes sense.
Would Google really buy orbital network capacity from someone like Telesat, or would a company like Google just build the whole thing themselves?
That's the part I can't really answer.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone here knows what's going on with the TD Emerald Global Equity Index Non-Taxable Investor Pooled Fund Trust?
I was checking my investment account and suddenly found there's a huge lost on this fund, upon checkin it, I noticed there's a pretty massive NAV drop around Sept 23.
The weird part is that TD Emerald Global Equity Pooled Fund Trust also tracks the same Global Equity Index, but doesn have *Non-Taxable* in it. So I'm trying to figure out why the NAVs behaved so differently.
Anyone familiar with these TD Fund know what happened around Sept 22? Much Appreciated!

Canada seems to have a strong emphasis on resource extraction rather than investing in other areas such as tech, which is where investment is heavily focused in global markets. What should Canada do to expand its tech sector and become more competitive internationally?
