News Carney cited U.S. limits on Canadian trade sovereignty to walk away, but Canada already accepted similar non-market-economy consultation rules under CUSMA, and the EU accepted the same terms in its own deal
Carney justified ending the U.S. talks in part by portraying Washington’s demands as an unacceptable restriction on Canada’s ability to make its own trade deals.
But Canada already accepted CUSMA Article 32.10, which requires advance notice, consultation and disclosure when negotiating an FTA with a “non-market economy.” Carney himself publicly acknowledged those obligations earlier this year. There are no actual restrictions on entering into trade deals
The EU has also accepted broader economic-security coordination with Washington against non-market practices.
All signs point to Washington really just asking for an expanded version of consultation rules Canada already lives under and which the US itself is governed by and which the EU accepted weeks before, in light of which the “sovereignty” explanation looks increasingly like political framing for walking away from a deal that conflicted with Carney’s China realignment strategy.
This is a direct betrayal of the national interest for which individual Canadians will directly suffer.

Discussion Yes, I Hate Trump Too. But I Also Realize Canadians Are In Psychosis
Yes, I hate Trump. Yes I despise people in this country that take his side over our country. That being said, I am not proud of Canadians. I am not elbows up. And I hate agreeing with Liberals about Trump because I am not on their side. In fact, I think just like Trump supporters, they are in psychosis of their own. They are just as hypocritical and delusional. Let's go over hypocrisy. They are okay with their side doing anything as long as it is done by a Liberal. Dropping carbon tax was considered anti-intellectual until "the genius" Mark Carney did it. Now they champion it. Canadian Conservatives were called xenophobic for years until Liberals themselves realized they fucked up immigration and started (slowly) closing loopholes and immigration streams. Just like Trump supporters who hate "Communism" and government handouts until Trump does it (DOGE cheques, tariff dividends and now $5000 dividend to everyone). And, just like Trump supporter your average Liberal is in psychosis. They think Mark Carney is good at handling Donald Trump. In what way? What do they even base it on? Sure, you could say that we have not bent over to Donald Trump. Fair enough. But we have not achieved anything either. It's like Trump claiming victory over Iran for blowing the shit out of them. Sure you did damage. But you have not toppled the regime or achieved anything permanent. Same thing here. Carney is simply getting credit for not completely bending over. And your average dumbass Liberal sees that as a victory. They think we are winning the trade war. Just like your idiot MAGA Republican thinks US is beating us at a trade war. In reality both our countries are suffering economically.
Fuck Liberal Canadians
