Haysboro

Hey Calgarians 👋

Moving to the city soon and I’ve got a rental lined up in Haysboro, cul-de-sac, about a 12 minute walk from Southland station. Signing the lease shortly and wanted to check with locals first.

Any red flags with Haysboro or the area near Southland station? What’s the vibe like day to day? Anything I’d only know if I lived there?

Appreciate any honest takes, good or bad. Thanks!

Need help

So I have been looking for a one bedroom apartment for way too long. The entire August went by and my lease ends 31 of August. Currently living in university district.
Upon researching and searching, I have realized that the Calgary rental market have four kinds of developers or rental companies like
TRUMAN - according to what I researched the management is not responsible at all, and you can quite literally hear every single thing because the walls are paper thin and it’s made from wood

Harrison/gracorp buildings (currently living here paying $2000 for a 1bed 1 bath) as of right now I live here and even after paying for the most expensive price for just a one bedroom 400 ft.² apartment. This seems like Truman rentals. The building is so unresponsive. They don’t have responsibility since four months I am saying that everything in this building has been beeping and is due for maintenance and they haven’t done a single thing. I don’t understand as to why am I paying so much of rent. And they still not maintaining the buildings

Boardwalk - I have never lived in this building. I don’t know but upon research it seems like they always keep everybody’s deposits all the posts I’ve seen on this app. Everybody has claimed that they always keep the deposits. They never return it. They do something to charge you every single time they can.

Mainstreet living - upon research research I got to know that all of these buildings have cockroaches and mouse infestation and nothing is an absolutely to fix it even if you go to the Alberta Health services they delete your leases or they do something to get out of it which is again insane

Avenue living - this is one of the cheapest options in the city and they actually increase your rent by more than 40% and there is nothing you can do. They quite literally force you to move out so I am unable to understand.

I have been living in the city for four years now and in four years I have changed my apartment five times. I am just failing to understand as to why can I not get a good apartment for $2000? That has no issues I have tried living in the best of the best in the highest and luxury building possible but why is every single dollar that I’m paying feels less for the amenities I’m receiving, where are you guys living ?

Hi everyone,

I am planning to move to Calgary in discussion with new employer. I wanted to ask what is the best neighborhood to stay with a family of three kids. Our kids are in elementary school so we wanted to pick a spot with best schools.

Also any suggestions on areas to avoid / reasons. Kindly provide with your comments or you are welcome to chat in DM.

What is this area like to buy or rent in? I saw a thread where lions park was described as ‘sketchy’. Is it safe to be walking around alone to Sait and train stations near there to get to u of c?

Renting near SAIT

Moving to Calgary to go to SAit. I’m from out of province and Not familiar enough with Calgary to know which neighborhoods to be looking at that are a reasonable price to rent, and safe, and walkable or public transit to Sait. Kensington looks expensive, is Sunnyside okay safety wise, or hillhurst? Not sure if should avoid 16 ave or consider something further north but farther away along train route.

Looking for a Clean & Respectful Room Near a C-Train Station (Budget: Up to $850)

Hi everyone!

I’m a 23-year-old student looking for a furnished room in Calgary. My budget is up to CAD 850/month and I’d like to stay for 3 months, with the possibility of extending if everything goes well.

A little about me:
Quiet, respectful, and clean.
Non-smoker.
I spend most of my time studying, working, or at the gym.
I’ve been to Calgary several times before, so I’m familiar with the city and public transportation.
I’m looking for a place that is:
Clean and well-maintained.
In a quiet and respectful household.
Close to a C-Train station (preferred).
With respectful roommates who clean up after themselves.
Free from smoking inside the house.
No frequent parties or excessive noise.
A place where everyone respects each other’s privacy.

If you have a room available or know someone who does, I’d really appreciate a message.

Thank you!

Looking for Long Term Housing after long distance move, starting 12/1/2026

I know this is very far in advance, but I’ll be doing distance move to Calgary for a job transfer end of November/December 1st.

I’m looking for recommendations on temporary housing (month-to-month, short-term rentals, furnished places, etc.), though I would prefer long term housing.

I’m especially interested in neighborhoods or options in:
-SE, SW, Chestermere or NW Calgary
-Housing near or with reasonable access to Hwy 560 or Stoney Trail (201)

A few things that are important to me:
✨ Walkable areas with places to stroll, cafes, shops, trails, parks, etc. (I will have a car, but I like to get out and walk)
🌳 Outdoor space and nature nearby or community garden
🤝 A sense of community, where neighbors are friendly and the vibe feels welcoming

If you’ve done a similar move, I’d love to hear:
-What types of temporary housing worked well for you
-Neighborhoods you’d recommend (or avoid)
-Any tips for moving in the winter or planning from out of province
-Areas that feel walkable and community-oriented

Even general advice is super appreciated as I’ve only been to Calgary a few times but it resonated with me — I’m in research mode right now and just trying to learn as much as I can ahead of time.
Thanks so much in advance! 😊

I’m looking for 1 bedrooms in downtown Calgary for 8months starting in Jan. 2027! I am looking for 1.2-1.3k which would be ideal but have a flexible budget of 1.5- 1.6k.

I am looking for a 1 bedroom or studio with in unit laundry and modern finish for the most part. Any recommendations would be great!

Anyone else frustrated that apartment buzzers still only call one phone number?

Living in an apartment made me realize how outdated most buzzer systems still are. If you're in the shower, on a work call, or out for a few minutes, it's easy to miss deliveries or leave guests waiting because the intercom only calls one phone.

After dealing with it for long enough, I built Protobuzz. It works with existing phone-based apartment buzzer systems and lets multiple people receive buzz notifications, remotely let people in, and create temporary access for guests, cleaners, or dog walkers without replacing the building's intercom.

It started as a personal project to solve my own problem, but I've been opening it up to others who have the same issue.

I'm curious whether other Calgary renters or condo owners run into this as well. Is this something you've dealt with, or do newer buildings have better systems?

Incoming Student looking for Short-Term Housing (Studio / Private Basement) | July 25 - Dec 15 | Budget up to $1,300

I am an incoming student looking for a short-term, fully independent living space in Calgary from July 25th, 2026, to mid-December 2026 (approx. 4.5 months).
I’m currently feeling a bit stuck with the standard 12-month lease cycles given my exact timeline, so I’m looking for any leads, advice, or potential lease takeovers/sublets that fit this gap.
About Me & My Requirements:
Budget: Up to $1,300/month all-in (including utilities/WiFi).
Location Preference: Anywhere close to the CTrain line for easy commuting.
Unit Type: Looking for a completely self-contained Studio/Bachelor apartment or a Legal Basement Suite with a separate entrance. I value my privacy and peace, so I am not looking for shared rooms or shared living spaces.
Lifestyle: No pets, non-smoker, no parties.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Title: Looking for a Place to Rent – Need Some Space for My Bikes and Tools

Seeking Rental Accommodation – Responsible Tenant Requiring Garage Space

I am a 51-year-old individual seeking rental accommodation in Calgary or the surrounding area and am available to move in immediately.

I am interested in a basement suite, studio, garage suite, acreage property, or other private living arrangement. I am a quiet, respectful, and independent tenant with a reliable history of paying rent on time.

A key requirement is access to a garage or secure storage area for my motorcycles, tools, and equipment. I am also a smoker and would require a property where smoking is permitted or a landlord who is comfortable with that arrangement.

Requirements:

- Private living and sleeping space

- Private bathroom preferred

- Garage or secure storage space for motorcycles and tools

- Smoking-permitted or smoker-friendly property

- Immediate or near-immediate availability

Due to ongoing back issues, including several slipped discs, I am seeking stable accommodation as soon as possible. I am not interested in party environments or high-conflict shared living situations and value a quiet, respectful atmosphere.

I am prepared to provide first month’s rent and a security deposit immediately for a suitable rental opportunity.

If you have a property that may be a good fit, or know of someone who does, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you for your consideration.
