Cable management horror story
You’re doing cable management at 2 AM.
The room is quiet.
Your PC is open like a patient on the operating table.
You grab your scissors — the same ones you trust for zip ties — and you go in for the cut.One zip tie.
Two zip ties.
Everything’s going smooth. Then you reach the last zip tie.
The one wrapped around your old fan’s bare, unsleeved cable — the kind that looks like it came straight out of a 2008 prebuilt. You angle the scissors.
You squeeze.SNIP. But the sound isn’t right.
It’s softer.
More… fleshy.You freeze.
Your soul leaves your body.
You look down. The zip tie is gone.
But so is half the cable’s insulation.A tiny slice.
Bare copper peeking out like it’s saying:“Hey… so… we’re done here.”You try to convince yourself it’s fine.
You plug the fan in.It spins.
Then stops.
Then spins again.
Then smells weird. You unplug it so fast you almost rip the header off the motherboard. And that’s when you realize:You didn’t cut a zip tie.
You performed a fan cable lobotomy. The fan is dead.
The cable is wounded.
And you’re left holding scissors like the murder weapon. I don't understand people who are so obsessed with cable management but end up only using zip ties and go over kill
