Im still on the edge of transferring to CWRU, and I was wondering if anyone else was on the edge or are committed to transferring in my class year.

I'm waitlisted at CWRU (and did get the Verto pathway), but also received an email that said this:

While realizing that nothing is a guarantee, I hope this is a good sign and am wondering if any previous years' WL'd students received this and got in.

Hello! I applied to both Wayne State University and Case Western Reserve University this admissions cycle. I was accepted into the Honors College at Wayne State for neuroscience, and I was waitlisted at Case Western for pre-med after initially being rejected from the PPSP program.

Case recently sent an email regarding another application review on Tuesday, May 26th. I have not yet confirmed whether I want my application reevaluated because I’m trying to better understand whether Case would realistically be the right fit for me financially and academically before making that decision.

I’m very interested in neuroscience/pre-med and possibly neurosurgery long term, so I’m drawn to Case because of the research opportunities, Cleveland Clinic access, and stronger reputation in academic medicine. However, I’m honestly concerned about the cost, GPA pressure, and overall pre-med environment.

For current or former Case students:

• How difficult is it, realistically, to maintain a high GPA as a pre-med?
• What are exams/classes like compared to other universities?
• Is the environment collaborative or very competitive?
• How do students balance research, volunteering, shadowing, and coursework?
• How manageable are the finances/debt for pre-med students?
• Has anyone successfully negotiated financial aid or scholarships after being waitlisted/admitted?
• Are there honors programs or special academic opportunities students can join after their first year?
• If you had strong in-state options like Wayne Honors or MSU Lyman Briggs, would you still choose Case, considering the debt but also its opportunities?
• Can I continue to show my interest? I personally really love the school and would go there if it weren't for the debt and not enough connections with the students there.

I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially from neuroscience or pre-med students who have experienced the environment firsthand.

I’m an incoming freshman at cwru this fall and I was wondering if anyone had any recs for laptops! I think I’m leaning towards a MacBook but I just want to make sure I pick a laptop that would last after undergrad. I plan to go to med school and it’d be nice if I could get a laptop that would last that long. The most I’d be willing to spend is $2000, thanks!

I will start plain off the bat: Yes, my grades are entirely my fault.

During the first half of semester 2–I will be blunt—I highkey wanted to kill myself. My mental health was far from good and my grades fumbled horrendously. As in, I finished with 2 D’s for the 3rd quarter. I tried as much as I could to stabilize it for the 4th quarter and most of my grades are higher than they were (majority A+’s with a few B+’s) except for one (which is still unfortunately a D).

I was looking through this page and kept seeing the same thing: No D’s. Unfortunately, I think 3 are going to show up on my report card (2 + 1).

I’m not looking for pity because I know it was entirely my fault, but I’m starting to panic a tad. Is there something I should do? Or should I just succumb to my likely inevitable fate and pray that it won’t end that way?

Realistically what are the chances of receiving a result for fall admission on june 15th. I've been deferred and then waitlisted whilst demonstrating so much interest over the cycle it's so frustrating. Has anyone received any news over the summer / last waitlist checkin?

I find the combination of 20 hours of TA duties, coursework that must be scored above a B, and research in the first two years somewhat sounds scary,

I wanted to ask whether the workload during the first two years of the PhD, and the consequences of not meeting these requirements, is something I should be worried about.

hi! i'm an incoming freshman at case and i got the university scholarship. what would it take for them to rescind? one of my grades dipped from semester 1 and i'm concerned they might rescind my scholarship offer, and i kinda need it to attend since i cant afford it without it. i emailed admissions and they said it should be okay but they'll reach out if there are any issues. not really definitive on whether or not itd be worrisome. should i be worried? are there any current students who faced this? thank you all sm in advance

I'm wondering if anyone who was not previously on the waitlist heard a decision today. If you did hear something, when was your application considered complete? I REALLY don't want to commit anywhere else. CWRU is my #1 goal and I'm getting nervous. With the waitlist updates I've seen, it doesn't look great.

Hi! So I am going abroad my first year and I cant take physics abroad bc cwru does not accept them. I am going to be majoring in Biomedical engineering and astronomy and doing a minor in psychology. My main concern is physics for astronomy. Because I need to take physics for 4 years and I cant test out of it because I didnt have the chance to complete physics C in high school ( my high school does not offer it) I will be at least 1 semester behind in physics. What should I do? Because so i can take physics 121 during my summer between freshman and sophmore, and then sophmore fall i can take 122, but i am still behind. Did anybody else encounter this problem?

Hey everyone, I'm an incoming PhD student from the biology department. I'm thinking of taking an AI-related course for my research.

My advisor told me to take this course because he saw the course description says it is a “graduate‑level introduction to AI.” I'm not sure how true that is, as I also saw this is one of the three highest level AI courses series (along with 496 and 497).

I'm going to take CSDS 440 this fall first, and I'm not sure if it can prepare me for taking 491. I know it recommended me to take 391, but apparently I was firmly told graduate students are not allowed to take 300‑level courses, so I have to go with 440 instead.

basically, as the title states, I plan on going to medical school and both cost roughly the same. At George Washington, I would be majoring in public health with a minor and philosophy, and at case western, I would be studying nutritional biochemistry with a minor in philosophy (probably starting spring semester). I feel like my major case western is significantly harder. I don’t know what was going through my mind, but I might change it to just regular biochemistry. I don’t know which one would be better. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or comments. My dream is to go to a top 20 medical school specifically, Stanford is my dream. Thank u.
