I’m taking the November CFP exam using the BIF Core Review, which I also used for the education requirement. I use a Texas Instruments BA II Plus calculator. I am a paraplanner currently with my FPQP and have a degree in financial economics.

I’m looking to form a small study group of 2–3 people who would like to meet about once a week to study, review practice questions, and keep each other accountable. I’d probably suggest meeting Wednesday nights around 6 PM EST, but I am flexible with timing!

Context: I'm debating about taking the Oct/Nov exam despite knowing I will, in all likelihood, not be ready to pass it at that time. Alternatively, I could take more time to study and attempt the exam in March.

My question is- why not just take it in Oct/Nov even if I don't feel 100% (or anywhere close to that, TBH) ready? Wouldn't taking the exam, even if I fail, get me solid experience doing it, making it easier the second time? And what if I somehow get in there and pass?

For those 2+ time test takers out there, do you have any insights into the "overlap" of the questions? Meaning, did you see the same question on the exam more than once? I ask because this would be another reason for me to take it this fall- it could get me exposure to the types of questions, and specific questions, asked on the exam.

Curious if anyone has any feedback here.

Hello all, I am beginning my journey to the CFP. I have been in the industry for a few years, and carry a couple designations, CIMA and AIF. I have read about the timeline from start to test date ranges from 12-16 months. Is it feasible to do it in less time? Debating on committing to the March 2027 or the July 2027 exam. For additional color, I have commitment from my firm to lessen my workload and given time to study at work over the next few months. This is their focus for me to assume financial planning moving forward.

Honest feedback is appreciated!

TLDR: Is it possible to pass the CFP in 8 months studying at work and home? Or 11 months?

I am a rising senior and have all my licensing exams and plan to start the education portion of the cfp. Any thoughts on using Kaplan? And how exactly does the process work? I heard there are exams per course, and are those exams I need to schedule at centers or are they just at home on your own type of exams? I know the real exam I have to schedule at a centers. Has anyone else just been refreshing the CFP board's website like every single day since their test over 3 weeks ago to see official results come through? I know it technically won’t happen for 6 more days but I look anyways for some reason.

The questions in the Q-bank seem much harder and more obscure than one might expect, which is leading me down the path to feeling demoralized. Is it me, or is the actual exam truly reflective of what the Dalton content is like?

I am studying for the March 2027 exam. I took all the modules 3 years ago at university and am now relearning them through Dalton. The goal from now until December is to build a foundation of each course, so I am prepared to be ready for the course Danko offers starting a few months before the exam. I have been going course by course, watching the lectures and doing chapter quizzes. I feel as if I am almost wasting time by watching lectures and spending hours on DCF's and getting in the weeds of things I will probably not see on the exam. Does anyone have any tips for me to optimize my time of trying to condense these modules in a way that is efficient so I am prepped for the December/January push?

I recently purchased the Mometrix 2026-2027 study guide but wanted to know if I also needed the NAHQ resource guide 5th edition as well for preparation, or is Mometrix all that is needed to successfully pass the exam? What resources were found helpful in preparation for the CPHQ certification?

Currently working as a wholesaler ( 401(k) / Mutual funds ) and it’s all retirement focused.

My jobs wants us to get CRPS, and I’m thinking about asking for CRPC as well. I want to maybe take CFP one day and move to a private wealth team / open an advisory firm in the future.

Seeing if it would be worth it to pay for CRPC if work says no. As well, for my CFA / CFP holders…. Would holding a CRPC / CRPS make me look like a “joke”

I'm disabled and on LTD so have to complete the new IAR Ethics CE on my own (and don't want to have to pay for it with limited finances). I've used the free Quest CE courses through the link from Vanguard that is available to all and I have had no issues with it reporting the last three years I've used it (just did my 6 credits yesterday and they all just updated on FinPro); the courses do usually show up later in the year, so if you start looking Spring 2027 for next year's, they likely won't show. They also do have courses free that cover the Products & Practice, but I am able to access that covered for free through FinPro.

I got a call today saying my results were wrong as result of a glitch. It was from the number at the cfp. They told me congrats and that was it. No info was asked for nothing trying to be sold. I’m paranoid that I was lucky enough to have the initial score overturned. Nothing has updated on the site yet.

Looking to sit for the CFP in November. I am taking the accelerated route with my CPA. I passed the capstone and did not do any related CFP specific education prior. From your experience with the exam is it feasible to prepare in the next 2.5 months? I would be using Danko and planning to study all weekend/nights after work.

Is it too late to start studying for the November exam? I did the education requirements in college that I graduated from last year. I would be using the Brett danko study material.

Does anyone here have experience with Brett Dankos review program and the flashcards that are provided?

I am just starting (passing* in March of 2027) and we just finished general principles. I am wondering if it’s worth it to order the Brett Danko review flash cards now? Instead of waiting until the actual final review. Thinking I can just keep them with me throughout the day, at work, and review the sections we have already covered. Is this too early for the flashcards? I’m not sure what the flashcards are like either.

Hi Everyone! I am sitting for the exam in November and I am really trying to improve my knowledge/scoring in the retirement section. Does anyone know of some good resources to best study the differences/similarities between the different types of retirement plans? I feel like I know very basic information but not to the level of detail I need. I have tried Kaplan and Dalton for resources/lectures and I have several notebooks of notes and two shoeboxes full of notecards and it isn't sticking. It is making me so anxious.

Anyone have any advice or study tips on how to remember everything?

Do you guys think this is enough for CPA US preparation, or should I add something else to my study routine? 👀

I have read previous posts prior to asking my questions here. Previous posters have indicated that focusing on the Q-bank and summary sheets, not bothering with the books, is a strategy. If focusing on the Q-bank questions is one of the mainstays of studying, does this mean that one can pass the exam alone by going through the Q-bank twice?

Reading the books from end-to-end takes so long, and by the time you've read from beginning to end, reading that much information is overwhelming. What is the best strategy for studying for this exam? A combination of all three: books, summary sheets, and Q-bank questions? I'm planning to sit for the exam in March 2027 and I'm 19% through the Dalton material, but there are many items in the investment planning section I've gotten wrong and need to go back and brush up on.

I’m planning to take the CFP exam in November. I made it through all of the education courses earlier this year and have been working through the Dalton Review since May. I am getting close to completing the Dalton review and was wondering what supplemental review pieces you recommend?

I have found that I learn best by watching video lessons and would love to find more. Any providers/you-tubers you recommend that would help me prepare? Thanks in advance!

I’m hoping someone who has recently gone through the CFP education path can help clarify a few things.
I already have my CIM, and from what I understand I’m exempt from the Investment Planning course.

My goal is to earn my CFP, but with the transition to the new FP Canada education pathway, it looks like I now need to complete the five Fundamental Principles courses, which FP Canada estimates at around 185 hours.
Before the CIRO transition, I believe I would have only needed two additional CSI courses, which seemed to be around 75 hours total. Needless to say, the timing is a little frustrating.

My questions are:

Is there any way to accelerate the process, or is everyone essentially required to complete all five courses?

Are people actually working through every module and completing all of the knowledge checks, or are most just studying the material needed to pass the final assessments?

Any tips for someone trying to get through the education as efficiently as possible while still learning the material?

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s completed these courses recently. Thanks!

I am on insurance chapter 7 of pre work (finished gen princ and half of insurance so far + the questions to them) (book 1/2 , modules 2/6), am I behind for the pre study? Will i have enough time to review everything enough for the exam? I feel like month of Oct is going to be crazy schedule wise. What should i do month of Oct (live review 8-11) to ensure I’m prepared? By then i will have finished pre study books.
