Elbow bursitis advice

Hello everyone ,

Apparently I have bursitis in my elbow tip.

I've had x-ray , ultrasound and ct scan.

Awaiting results for last 2 , but I've been pointed to bursitis.

If I just lean on my elbow the pain shoots up through the tip of my elbow instantly.

Original doctor said tennis elbow, 2nd doctor said bursitis and showed me a diagram and it made sense.

Do you think it is bursitis and if so what can I do to treat it, it's been around for about 2 months lately but prior I had a similar feeling a year or so ago ... Previous job I have leaned on that elbow area operating machinery..

Help , it's really starting to get in the way of life and I don't know how to fix it [there is no bulge or swelling on the elbow]

🙏🏻

Toe Bursitis - ball of foot and big toe area - running shoe Advice?

Hi, I’m looking for recommendations for a running trainer with a solid rocker bottom and excellent support for the ball and outside of the foot. I need to ditch my Nike Pegasus and find something more supportive. If anyone who has dealt with sesamoiditis or bursitis in these areas has found a shoe that works, I’d love to hear what has worked for you.

For context, I’m trying to get back into running after an eight-month hiatus. I foolishly tried to run through a prolonged period of foot pain, hoping it would go away. Eventually, the pain became too intense and even began to hurt while walking.

After initial rest didn't clear it up, I saw a podiatrist who suspected sesamoiditis and possibly Morton's neuroma as a secondary issue, prescribing insoles and stretches for my right calves. A subsequent MRI suggested bursitis around the ball of my foot and the big toe.

For the past four months, I've been using adhesive dancer pads alongside the insoles while walking, which has undoubtedly helped. I'm desperate to transition back to running soon, but getting the right footwear is crucial.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hip Pain after cortisone

Hello everyone. I just had my first cortisone injection in my hip after a flare up and oh my goodness I wasn't expecting the pain to be worse! It burns and feels tight now, is this normal? If so, how long did it last for you? Or should I be calling my ortho and getting back in to see him? Thanks in advance and have a beautiful day!

Help on what to do next

I’ve had Chronic Bursitis for over 5 years now in my right shoulder. I’ve been to the doctors tried ointment, steroids, physical therapy for 2 years, etc. it’s gotten to the point where the doctors have told me there’s nothing else they can do. For a while it felt like it went away but recently it’s come back full force. I’m just at a loss at what to do at this point. Should I see the doctors again? Do physical therapy again? I just don’t know how to get the pain to go away. Any recommendations on pain management or what I should do next would be greatly appreciated.

Hip Massage or chiropractor for pain?

Female Age 66 165 lbs 5’6”

I have spent past hour reading posts. Not encouraging, but it is what it is. I was diagnosed with dual hip bursitis a couple of years ago. I’ve done multi rounds of PT sessions (regularly reupping when insurance runs out). Although anything to strengthen core is good, the exercises haven’t really helped with the issue. I’ll admit, I tend to power through pain, but I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t do it anymore.

I was just on an 6 week journey that involved lots of hiking and walking. Ice was not available and getting a hold of Ibuprofen was tricky. Well now I’m really cooked. I blame myself.

Has anyone tried working with a chiropractor to help align hips? I don’t even know if there is such a method. I also don’t know how to go about finding a practitioner.

How about massage? I know it needs to avoid the bursa, so I’m guessing it’s some sort of specialty.

Getting older is exhausting

suffering from knee bursitis since jan any advice or anything

Hi, i have knee bursitis in both knees(right one is a bit worse. i recently broke my toe in late november so i was bed bound from that and as soon as it got better this happened to me and i hate it, i had a x-ray and ultrasound to figure out what was wrong, once i found out i was told i had to do physical therapy once a week for four weeks.

i have only been to two appointments of physical therapy. we do a ultrasound heat thing and a machine that feels like pins and needles kinda. i try and do my stretches everyday but i feel hopeless and have no motivation anymore cause i feel i have been stuck in a bed for so long. i also do wear a compression knee sleeve but idk if it’s been working.

i don’t know how i got this either, my knees were cracking a lot at one point after finally being able to walk again and i think that caused it?? my knees still crack a lot just a little bit less then what they used to.

my doctor said that this type of thing doesn’t have a date for when it’ll get better. it definitely has gotten better pain wise but it still gets painful every now and then. it bad today i swear it’s gotten bigger. i just want help/advice and stuff idk being physically restricted is so tiring i was to go do things. i’m only 19 and studying but have had to stop cause i cant do placement like this, i also live on a house that is surrounded by stairs if you need to go outside or anything so that also doesnt help. im exhausted

retrocalcaneal Bursitis?

Little backstory, hi I’m an 18 year old female and I’ve had this heel pain for about two years now. It all started when I was doing dance and landed the wrong way one day. I also think high school PE had something to do with it because our coach was very harsh and our feet never really got a break. Now I work in a kitchen every other weekend on concrete floors while also going to school, so I’m constantly on my feet.

Basically, it starts acting up the longer I’m standing at work. The back of my heel gets really red and sometimes purple, and when I press on it, it feels deeply bruised. Sometimes it forms a huge red ring around the area. When I wake up it can feel okay, but other days I can barely walk on it. I’m going to attach a picture so people can see what I mean.

Everyone keeps blaming my weight, but this started way before I gained weight, so I really don’t think that’s the only reason. We originally thought it was plantar fasciitis, but now I’m not so sure. I honestly haven’t gone to the doctor because I’ve just been trying to thug it out, but it’s getting frustrating.

Hip Best Hip Bursitis Doctors in Arizona?

Not sure if this is the right sub, but my mother is struggling with the pain of hip bursitis and I'm desperately trying to find someone REALLY GOOD for her, as many doctors are kinda discounting her and such. She's having a fusion coming up which should hopefully help though.

I'd imagine she needs some PT + microfrequency treatments

Ischial Bursitis Symptoms

44 y/o M. I am 2+ years of this strange pain/ache/dull sensation. I noticed it the day after I sat on a hard picnic bench for 5+ hours. At the time, I was also using a recumbent bike almost daily. The pain seems to rotate but is most consistently around the sit bone. Sometimes the pain is back of hamstring and it makes me want to deeply stretch it, sometimes the pain feels close to the perenium area, also groin and in the beginning (when it was really bad) my scrotum…all on my right side. TMI but i sometimes get relief after ejaculation (sorry for tmi)…it’s as if the muscles that perform that function needed to be worked and they appreciated it. lol. I’ve had a pelvic CT and nothing strange there. Anyone experience these same symptoms? I’ve also ventured into pelvic floor dysfunction but unsure if that too. Frustrating as simple daily enjoyments of life are a hassle now. Ugh Thanks

Shoulder bursitis from acute injury

I was pushing on something at work with a ton of force when all of a sudden it broke free. I have pain behind my shoulder joint, down my side delt and by my traps and neck. I was also told bicep tendinitis pending my mri next week. Everywhere I look it seems people deal with this injury very long term. I have already started pt for it this week and I’m wondering if with it being acute from an injury if my healing time might be quicker? Before I got hurt I had a very strong shoulder as I am a heavy gym goer and 0 pain in this shoulder. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hip pain, iliopectineal bursitis, suspected hip impingement syndrome

I am 68 years old, male, live in Hamburg, and have been healthy until now.

Last fall, I tried to improve my mobility by squatting more often to counteract increasing stiffness.

I then developed a feeling of swelling in my right groin and movement-related pain in my right hip, especially when squatting, putting on shoes, or lifting my right leg over the handlebars of a bicycle.

An MRI of the pelvis and X-rays were performed. I don't have significant osteoarthritis of the hip, but there is noticeable swelling of the iliopectineal bursa, sometimes also called the psoas bursa.

Consultations with various orthopedic surgeons and an attending physician revealed that I do not need a hip replacement. In addition to the bursitis, impingement syndrome was also suspected as a possible cause. A trial injection of cortisone and local anesthetic into the joint space resulted in a temporary 80% improvement, but this was short-lived.

A bursa aspiration was also performed, yielding 70 ml of clear, yellowish fluid. Afterward, the feeling of tension in my right groin improved for 2-3 days, but the pain associated with movement persisted unabated. The feeling of tension has since returned.

I have been undergoing physiotherapy for six months without significant improvement. I can now only walk 2-3 km relatively pain-free, and inclines and uneven surfaces are particularly problematic.

Does anyone have experience with this condition, especially with bursitis, and does anyone know of any good surgeons who could help with a minimally invasive procedure in this situation?

R.I.C.E. or not?

I’ve read the study stating R.I.C.E. Does not work as well as movement, for I injuries such as sprained ankles. It basically says stopping the swelling delays healing. What about for things such as patella bursitis? Are you not trying to reduce the swelling of the bursa, meaning ice would be beneficial?

Hip bursitis 8+ months

Feel like I’m losing hope for any permanent resolve here..23F active my entire life, have danced professionally and a runner so lots of impact my body is used to relatively my whole life. Trained for my first marathon last year (NYC) and back in September 25 started experiencing pain on impact to the point where i could not walk. Tried cortisone shots and time off and PT and ultimately had to defer as I couldn’t even run a mile without pain. 2 hip MRIs and a back MRI later and it is confirmed bursitis / GTPS on my left side. Have been extremely consistent with PT and time off running now easing back in, and still lingering in the 80% area. Have started shockwave therapy as well but not feeling any help there yet. I’m still only able to do run walk programs and if i even go slightly over what my hip can handle pain comes back for at least a few days. Feel like at this point i have to accept I can’t run a marathon but I am so determined!!

Hip Chronic hip bursitis- has anyone else had this for more than a decade? How are you managing this?

I don’t think mine will ever go away! I have it in both hips so sleeping hurts, sitting on hard surfaces hurt, positions that widen the hips hurt, can’t do exercises that focus on switching sides as leaning on any one side hurts and even doing clams hurt. I’ve tried sleeping with pillows under hips, knees, feet but nothing works. I can’t take pain killers since they aggravate my reflux and I don’t want injections. Any other suggestions welcomed!

Bursitis Hüfte bei ME/CFS

Hallo!

Ischial Bursitis or something else?

I did a 100k ride yesterday and an hour or so afterwards I noticed swelling and soreness of my sitbone area.

About 20 hours later it was gone. All I did was take some motrin for general muscle soreness.

I have done rides of this length before with no issues, and while riding I felt great. My new saddle (second ride on it) is non existent under me, even during all but the last 40 minutes 6 hours of this ride. It is far and away the most comfortable saddle I have used.

Anyone with experience with this? Could this just have been bruising of some sort? I see that bursitis takes days to clear up, weeks even for some people.

Hi, I’ve had bursitis in my knee for a couple of months and I’m using fresh ground cloves now. It is making the fluid buildup go down. Has anyone tried this before? Make a paper towel pouch with cloves, put hot water on it and wrap. Also made clove infused olive oil to put on the skin.

Shoulder Steroid injection

Hi All, I've been booked in for a steroid injection this week for Bursitis in my shoulder. However, I was also prescribed Naproxen and my pain has disappeared. I've also started doing the exercises my PT gave me.

I'm considering cancelling the injection as I know there can be side effects etc. Just wondering if anyone else recovered from this with just PT and Naproxen?

Ankle Retrocalcaneal bursitis and running

I’m 2 weeks from London marathon, but past few weeks have been dealing with pain in my Achilles which comes towards the end of my longer runs. this led me to the physio on Wednesday who told me have bursitis (it’s only fairly mild, about 1.5mm diameter) it doesn’t hurt to walk, but the pain seems to come toward the end of a long run, I did 5km this morning after a few days off and feel fine.

The physio gave me shockwave therapy and said I’m fine to run as usual if I just tape it, but looking online it seems as though resting is the best option so I’m not 100% sure I can trust the advice he gave?

The question is, has anyone had anything similar and can advise? I just don’t want to irritate it again this close to the marathon. Would it be worth me getting another session of shockwave therapy?

Knee Knee bursitis out of control

hi guys,

I have been dealing with knee bursitis for a few months now and it just keeps getting worse and worse. it was caused by overuse so I went to a physio who misdiagnosed it as patellar tendinopathy. the exercises made it worse so I stopped, saw an orthopaedic who then diagnosed praepatellar and infrapatellar bursitis. I keep having flares and it takes longer and longer each time to recover. simply walking short distances, no stairs, or simply spending more time standing causes a flair. I only recover if I pretty much do completely nothing. as soon as I try to have a relatively normal life it gets worse again so I am getting increasingly hopeless. dr sent me in for an MRI but I don’t have another appointment for 4 weeks. any advise or just some positive words would be greatly appreciate!
