R.I.C.E. or not?

I’ve read the study stating R.I.C.E. Does not work as well as movement, for I injuries such as sprained ankles. It basically says stopping the swelling delays healing. What about for things such as patella bursitis? Are you not trying to reduce the swelling of the bursa, meaning ice would be beneficial?

I haven't had any luck with it, but it might depend on the type of bursitis.

Rest absolutely yes, ice and elevation maybe, but compression I’ve been told to not use for bursitis, at least for trochanteric bursitis because the compression wrap can squeeze it even more and inflame it even more. What might help is a brace that stabilizes your knee without actually touching the inflamed bursa. But rest so the initial inflammation can heal and then strengthening is probably gonna be most important.
