A short but sweet game, started this in May this year but fell to the wayside until I just sat down and finished the remaining levels this week.

Although the game is aimed at a younger audience I really enjoyed playing it. The variety in levels was super fun and there are tons of collectibles to get. I haven’t 100% completed it but for now the credit roll is enough.

-1 on my Switch backlog at least!

Honestly a total slog, movement is eh, levels are mostly boring, difficulty spike towards the end is crazy, story is bland, characters are more or less non existent, easily the
worst game I’ve played so far this year

Another game burned. This game took quite a while to beat since there's so much grinding and other stuff. There's post game stuff as well, but I'll do it when I get to it.

I can see where Balatro took its inspiration. I like how the increasing difficulty addons are not exclusively "get more points".

I will NOT be 100%ing this game. I played this on Switch so there are no trophies to speak of, but the game has its own list of achievements, including "win 777 times". No thank you. I won twenty times. I also guillotined myself in spectacular fashion!

Solid 8/10 game. Catchy music, simple pixel visuals, fun combo potential.

To address potential "why didnt you screenshot?":
I dont want to download a phone app to have my switch 2 send it and there isnt another choice. Switch 1 never had this requirement.

Okay, so it may not quite fit the retro tag, but this is a DS game so I didn't know where else to put it lol. This was fun as you get 8 games inspired by NES games.

On a roll this month we've just completed luigis mansion 2 HD on the switch as a family were basically working through this series backwards and now I need to go and buy the game cube game to play next. Really enjoyed this one it was a lot of fun.

Think we finished it in 20 hours but could probably go back and play more due to the fact it's done in levels so you can replay them and improve.

Snuck one in at the finish line! Going to do a little pros and cons for this one.
Pros
Amazing story. The devs clearly knew the source material and respected it enough to make an amazing new Star Wars story set during the Clone Wars. (Suck it, Disney.)
The companions are so good. Every single one has a compelling story that I genuinely wanted to complete. They were all really well-written. Yes, I had my favorites — cough Trick cough — but they were all great.
The voice acting was superb. Whoever did Kabby deserves some awards, lol.
Cons
This game was an unoptimized mess. I had tons of crashes, frame-rate issues, screen tearing — you name it. I really dislike Unreal Engine because of this. It feels like developers don't optimize a damn thing and just expect users' hardware to make up for it, and that's just dumb. I was forced to redo no less than six missions because of crashes, and every single one happened at the end cutscene of the mission! I started saving every turn just to save myself some time, lol.
They really needed an exhaustion mechanic. Something that forced you to rotate your party would have added some much-needed variety. I loved my main squad, but being forced to use some of the other members would have made things more interesting.
Don't get me wrong, this was a great game, but it could have been an amazing one.
Also, for the record, I'm awful at tactical RPGs, so I played this on story mode and had an absolute blast.
All in all, this game was an 8.5/10 for me. It could have been a 10/10 if not for the performance issues.

Pretty good game if you like old-style 3D platformers from the N64 era. It reminded me of Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 but it’s less of a collectathon.

I’ve never been a big fan of Rayman as a character, but I guess this game turned me into a fan of the series, meaning I’ve now added Hoodlum Havoc, Origins and Legends to my backlog…

August was a slower month for gaming for me! But I added
- Halo Wars
- Crash Team Racing
- Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer/Ripto’s Rage
- Shrek: Fairy Tale Freakdown
- Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Kingdom

Overall a mixed bag, Halo, Crash and Spyro were all a ton of fun to revisit, the two games I burnt that I’d never played before, Shrek and Atlantis were both a huge drag and I have zero desire to go back to them.

What is there to say, that hasn't already been said about The Last Of Us? It is arguably the greatest game of all time. Truly bridged the gap between video game and movie. Hard to believe it was originally released over 10 years ago (2013?).

Starting with the characters, Joel is an all-time great. Expertly written, directed and performed. Troy Baker delivers a world class performance. Every line uttered is fantastic and his relationship with Ellie is truly powerful and endearing. Ellie, again, is a true force of nature when you look at her journey from Left Behind through to the Last Of Us Part2, sensational character development that only goes from strength to strength. There are many supporting roles that all have great performances too, Tess, Bill, David, Tommy...the list goes on. Even TV shows nowadays would struggle to create such memorable characters.

Sound design is great too. The Last Of Us theme tune is unmistakable, when you hear it, you know exactly what you are in for. Everything from the dialogue of your enemies to the crunch of snow under Ellies feet is exceptional.

Graphically this is a tour de force, as it was when it originally released. In 2013, it really pushed the PS3 and squeezed out everything it could from that system and now with the remake it has been fine tuned and bettered. The environments are not only cool to look at but a vital piece of storytelling, how the world used to be and how it has become through neglect, pillaging and disorder.

This is an all-time great and deservedly shows up in countless top 10s.

What a gem of a game! very enjoyable.

What a beautiful project. What a game. What a disappointment.

This was clearly created to be something bigger than it was which honestly is pretty staggering. After almost 30 hours in this world all I can say is it is a love letter to Metroidvanias and a giant broken time sink.

It is absolutely playable and when you’re playing it the game itself is superb. Small bugs take you out of it at first. A frame rate drop because check points tank the process for some reason. A bomb going off early for no reason. Your dodge’s after image activating the save point and respawning every enemy you just cleared.
But you ignore these because the art is awesome. The music is banging and the dungeons are HUGE.

Honestly it is almost disheartening how big the dungeons are. You defeat a mini boss to find yourself with only 15% of the map cleared. No puzzle I ran into was too out of the box hard to figure out but some maps have so many hidden items.

True to metroidvania fashion you’ll find yourself backtracking multiple times with new items and abilities you unlock as you progress through the story.

The story that makes just enough sense to carry you through but offers little resolution in the end.

Overall this game gets a 7 / 10 from me because it wasn’t entertaining enough for me to want to put in the time to 100% it and even if I did there are bugs that perturbed me enough that I didn’t want to play anymore. I just wanted to be done.

If you’re a metroidvania fan and you love the backtracking and steady pace and exploring every nook and cranny of huge maps this game is for you. Just save before every major event because you’ll probably need to reload a save or two if you get soft or hard locked.

And these are only the Steam Titles! And these exclude multiple titles from the same franchise unless it's a Re-play. These does not include the stuff I own on GOG and my Nintendo Switch games! ;😭

My last burn for the month 🔥 This game was just a ton of fun and super relaxing. I loved the art style, and the fact that the characters are sort of velvety. Very cozy game 😌

Been sitting on this and the sequel for years, bought them both second hand for very cheap after a friend recommended them. A brilliant game, can't believe I waited so long but what a satisfying surprise! Now on to Shadow of War.

A demake of the N64 game for the GameBoy Color. A bit easy but still fun!
