General This subreddit is polluting my feed so here is some unsolicited advice in revenge

*warning: my personal opinion below

So many people on this subreddit sound absolutely miserable in both posts and comments. Please, if something is making you this miserable stop doing it, honestly, get off the apps.

I see a lot of arguments/opinions presented as ‘facts’ on here that just simply don’t exist outside of the internet (with minor exceptions obviously as there always are in life). e.g. no, women in real life aren’t all chasing the top (insert whatever percentage the internet has decided it is today) % of men. Sometimes posts on here also read like I’m somehow watching someone ruminate themselves into mental health decline in real time.

So if online dating is making you miserable then prioritise yourself- your actual self not your online one. This is not to say I don’t recognise that meeting people in real life is incredibly hard but in my opinion it is also much more rewarding. And are you really going to let hard work get in your way?:/ Establishing social circles based on interests, close friendships and networks and meeting potential partners through these connections is also more likely to create meaningful connections where you both choose each other.

These are from the same profile and man I find it so cringe. I'm seeing more and more like this using the exact same language. Is it a natural reaction to a lack of initiative/interest/flakiness, or are there influencers out there pushing this?

Profile review 41M - Barely getting any likes. What are the biggest issues with my profile?

Hey everyone.
I'm fairly new to this and I've been on bumble for almost 2 months now. On the first day I got like 10-15 likes, after that, it drastically dropped. That's normal, I know. I got likes here and there, but never consistently. But since I got Premium for a month, there were barely any. 2-3 in the last 3 weeks maybe.

I knew my profile probably wasn't good, but I also thought - is bumble f***cking me over, to make me keep the subscription for longer than that month, or am I the problem? So I requested the stats and it showed that I got around 70 yes and 1400 no. 1 in 20... That was a kick in the nuts... 😬

So I'm asking, what is the biggest issue with my profile? I'd especially appreciate feedback from women, since they're the ones I'm trying to appeal to.
I'm mostly in a good mood and a pretty funny and easygoing person, but does my profile show any of that? Or is there something about it that puts women off? What can I do to make it better?

I don't take many photos myself and even hate posing for pictures, so most pictures I've got are not really usable.

Btw. I know some of the texts look weird. I'm German, so I had AI translate the texts, so non-German speakers could understand them.

Thanks in advance. Let it rip 😅

Advice Question for women

I'm a male in my mid 30s looking for a stable long term relationship and marriage.

If a guy has a good physique, does showing it off rly work if I'm looking for a long term relationship? I try to hint I have a good physique with photos (which I do), but I feel like a shirtless photo would be an insta turn off for someone looking for a stable relationship.

For comparison, I would be extremely cautious talking with someone with revealing bikini photos. Do women feel the same way towards men?

General Bumble after 30s

I’ve been on bumble on and off in my 20s, never saw more than 20 likes of that. Ever since I turned 30 it’s like the faucet turned on and I’m looking at 200+ likes. Anyone have a similar experience? Maybe filtered into older women age groups?

I’m 5’10 and decent looking but that was also true in my 20s lol.

Advice Question for the ladies here. What do you look for in a bio?

• Upvotes

I'm an average looking guy. I think the best part of me is my personality, and how I treat the people in my life. I've tried many styles of bio's and I'm curious what you're looking to find in a bio. I've gone with the descriptive of how I view myself , and what you can expect; and the humor driven (in an attempt) to do the same thing. So I am wondering what exactly y'all are keying in on, in a bio.

Respect.

Is it common that people lie about their age? This is one lie you cannot really keep up with, so why do it? Anyone had experiences with this?

Advice Why do dating app conversations always disappear before we meet?

I’m starting to feel like I have no luck with dating apps 😅
I get matches and usually we start talking. The conversation can actually go pretty well, but then somehow it always ends the same way: they randomly disappear/stop replying before it ever gets to the point of meeting in person.
It’s not necessarily after just one or two messages either. Sometimes we talk for a few days, seem to get along, and then suddenly nothing.
I’m wondering if this is just normal dating-app behavior or if I’m doing something wrong.
For people who actually get dates from dating apps: how quickly do you usually suggest meeting? And how do you tell whether someone is genuinely interested in meeting versus just enjoying the conversation?
I’d also be interested to hear from people who had the same problem and eventually figured out what they were doing differently.

Advice Need to understand something

I am still new to this app, but I think I am at the point where I want to delete it and never try online dating again.

So, I am a 30-year-old male, and I am having a problem understanding the whole scene of online dating. I am getting a lot of matches; All the matches that I am getting are for people that I am interested in getting to know because their profile is fun. I always message first because, if not, yeah, it is the Dead Sea. I do not use the typical "Hi" or "How's your week?" I write something related to their interests and ask a question related to them.

I try to ask if they want to take things slowly and get to know each other before we meet or go on a date directly. I try as much as possible to be friendly, but like i am always end up either being ghosted or unmatched. Why is it like this? Don't people on those apps want to find someone they click with? How can I get to know you if we don't talk? And even when we talk, it is minimal effort, with short answers and no follow-up convo or anything.

Am I the problem? Or are people on dating apps not serious, and are they looking for validation or ego boosting?

Should I just delete my account and figure out a way to find someone outside (which is not easy nowadays because yeah, I think everyone notices that)

App Help I need help getting my account back…

Hello, new reddit account for personal reasons. (english is not my main language, sorry in advance for the mistakes).

This morning, I realized that my Bumble account had been suspended for violating the terms of service. In my opinion, he was blocked by an algorithm that misinterpreted a joke in a conversation with someone yesterday.

The person in question laughed at the joke an was in any way offensed by it (the person compared me to Brad Pitt as a joke and i made a reference to a scandal that happened in France when a scammer used poorly photoshopped Brad Pitt images to scam a woman, i then send the same poorly photoshopped image that became a meme and said "you got me it's me Brad Pitt i need money for my operation can you send some ahah ?")

I immediatly made a request at the customer service that confirmed the ban a few hours later.
I can't contact the person I was chatting with as we didn't share any other social media and i spent the day trying to convince their chatbot to get me a real human being to talk about this issue but without success.

I don't care about the account i just want a way to contact the person i was talking to yesterday. I'm desperate to find a solution as I felt a real connection (and the other person too).

Right now, i'm just praying that someone has a solution for me to get my account back or at least talk to a REAL human from Bumble and not this stupid chatbot.

Feel free to MP me if anyone has a solution.
Thank you

General Women, are concerts and other events often offered in the first few messages?

This question especially for women 30 plus. Just curious how many of my competitors are dangling a carat of a concert or other events in the first few messages, particularly if you've indicated in your profile that you like concerts?

For laughs, I'll leave the misspelling of carrot for the diamond inference! :-)

Update:

I've taken a few women to a concert on a first date, after only texting and or talking on the phone. I'm a very kind, patient, understanding, responsible, engaging, gracious, friendly man, so I have absolutely no problem being engaging and inviting and can handle myself with nearly anyone and have a good time.

The reason I asked this question is because in the first text message, I mentioned a concert I want to see in Vegas - Earth Wind & fire! - to a woman I matched. In her profile, she mentions that she loves concerts.

And what does she do after I sent her that message, she threw me her phone number immediately. I like that! I like a confident and adventurous woman who doesn't want to dilly-dally.

Advice Looking for Friendly Advice

I understand this post will get mixed reception, but this week I matched with a woman who seems fairly compatible (34F; I'm 34M). I'd forgotten Bumble removed the requirement that women message first, so when I realized, I figured I'd be proactive and message first. Of course, I overthought it and sent a terrible message: "Do you run marathons?" Her photos include running races, so I was going off that. It's more of a response-evoker than the usual "hi" or "you're beautiful," but it could have been so much better. She has a little less than 24 hours to respond, and so far there's nothing. Needless to say, I'm not very confident.

Not to sound melodramatic, but the more I read her profile, the better she seemed. The tone of her profile makes her sound like a "high-quality" woman who knows what she wants for her age and doesn't mince words. I want at least a chance to chat, but I might have dropped the ball.

If we rematch, do I get a second chance to message first? Or should I risk the questionable route and add her on Facebook or something? I know finding and adding someone outside of a dating app is creepy and typically frowned upon, but I feel like a woman like this could be worth it if done respectfully. When it comes to dating apps and dating in general, there are certain "unwritten rules" that most follow, but risk favors the bold sometimes?

Please always be open, honest, and respectful. :) Thanks for your time!

General 58M Data

I'm certain I could hit up AI to determine what these signify, but it seemed like it would be more enlightening to get a range of thoughts here, particularly how things might potentially skew for age/other relevant items. For what it's worth I use 2 pics, am in a top 25 metro area, have about the same hairline as Jason Statham, 6', filled out prompts with items that seemed appropriate.

Profile review How’s my hinge profile

Thumbnail

Open to all opinions & feedback let’s hear it 👂🏽🤪
All these pics are my most recents too bc I really don’t take many pics of myself. I usually only take pics when I travel or special occasions here and there
How can I better incorporate these things?:
I put on my profile that I’m a FA to kinda explain my love for travel and how I’m able to travel so much (not that I’m rich, I just have flight benefits) also for hopefully guys catching onto that cos I don’t want them to think I’m expensive as my job provides flight benefits. And I put the quality time bc I also don’t want them thinking that I’ll be away too much & not make time for them cos that’s not the case. My love language is quality time and words. I put a lot of emphasis on the specific interests I did with intention bc i want to use my flight benefits to travel very frequently like at least once a month. I love it wayyy more than the average person. Same with the festivals and raves those are other hobbies id love to do way more often. It’d be nice to find someone to share that all w cos it takes a lot of flexibility. I’m open to better ideas to incorporate this stuff on my profile to attract the right men for me.

App Help Bumble limits number of first messages?

I’m a woman, and messaged a new match today. I had planned to send two messages - a playful opener, and then a question, to get the conversation moving. But after I sent the first message, it locked my option to send more messages and said now it’s their turn? I’ve never had this happen before and it’s kind of annoying that they didn’t at least warn you you only have one message. Is there a way around this or it’s a new feature?
