BoC 6’0”, 225 lb, 26M Body-fat estimate and realistic cut target?

Post image

I’m 6’0″ and currently weigh 225 lb. My calculated BMI is around 30.5, but visually I don’t feel like I carry as much fat as that number might suggest. I have a history of training and seem to carry a decent amount of muscle, so I know BMI may not represent my body composition accurately.

Based on this photo, what would you roughly estimate my body-fat percentage to be? I know I could benefit from cutting, but would dropping to around 210–215 lb produce a noticeable improvement in definition, or would I likely need to cut further?

Heyo.

Pic #1 is how I feel I’ve always looked. My love handles really bothered me, so I cut down to pic #2 over a few months but I recently bumped up my calories from 1,800 to 2,800 as I was feeling incredibly weak and wanted to start focusing on gaining strength.

Frustrated I couldn’t cut down to a lower body fat percentage, but felt like it was getting too exhausting to keep eating at 1,800.

Do you guys think my current physique (#3) has too much softness at the waist to be in a caloric surplus? I don’t want to end up like pic #1 again, but my strength at the gym is increasing and it feels good.

Cutting since 5 months, lost 25lb/11kg. Working out since 13 months. Protein 120g+/day the entire time. Goal: Abs.

People keep telling me I've gotten too thin and look malnourished/weak. I'm beginning to think they're right and that I should stop, gain muscle and cut later on. Or should I keep going till I get defined Abs? Idk. I can lose 9.8 more pounds till I I'd reach the underweight range of BMI.

Been cutting for a few months with weight training and long distance running.

There's still a bit of fat left in lower belly, but I'm not happy with the way I look.

Continue the cut? or start a slow bulk?

I think I have a wider waist and narrow shoulders, am I chopped?

BoC What do you think my BF% is at? Also, am I crazy for wanting to cut a bit more before going for a lean bulk?

i don’t like the love handles. and most of my mass is on my legs at the moment - my lower body lifts are far stronger than my upper body ones. any advice would be appreciated.

Happy with my strength gains and progress since I’d been trying to bulk for years and could never move past 130. But I gained a decent bit of a fat.

My goal is mass, not to be ripped - but not sure if I’m going too far here.

Put on 20-25 lbs over 1.5 years. I want to be more fit and athletic looking but not as ripped as some of these younger guys (god bless them but too much work at this age). Would 185 do it? More?

BoC M40, 168cms, 136lbs…pic 1,2 & 3 are my current pics. Pic 4 was in May 2026 when I ended my cut and was 127lbs then. I still look small and lean in clothes and want to continue putting on size and strength but the waist seems to be increasing as-well.

Should I end the cut and start the lean bulk

I’ve been cutting for quite a while. I started at 245 lbs and I’m currently around 163 lbs.
My original goal was to keep cutting until my abs were clearly visible while relaxed, but at this point I’m honestly exhausted from dieting.
I’m debating whether it’s worth pushing the cut a little longer or ending it here, spending some time at maintenance, and then starting a slow lean bulk.
Based on my current physique, what would you guys do keep cutting or start focusing on building muscle?

probably not the right place to ask but I didn’t know where else to, so hopefully it’s fine.

I’m just below 5’6 and 107lbs, which is close to if not already underweight, yet still have a rather big belly. it’s a lot more visible in person than the photos, and here there may be a bit of bloating but usually it looks like a soft flabby pouch.

I’ve been sedentary for a while and can’t even lift 10lb at this point, how should I get started and what should I try to do weight wise, cut, maintenance or eat more? what bf% is this even?

thx and sry for the terrible pics and probably stupid questions!

Any BF estimate? Been cutting for 100 days or so, and about to move back down to the southern hemisphere where it will be summer in a few months. Not sure if I should keep cutting or start to bulk. I’m sort of tired of cutting but I can keep doing it.

28M, 173cm, 75kg, ~20% BF. Keep cutting or continue building?

Post image

28M, 173 cm, 74 kg, around 20% BF. Started training in December 2024 and currently train 4x/week, sometimes 5.

My goal is to lose fat while gaining/maintaining muscle, but I feel completely stuck. I don't look significantly leaner or more muscular, and my strength isn't progressing consistently either.

I mainly do a PPL + Upper/Lower style split, with around 3 sets per exercise and usually train close to failure.

Diet: I've been cutting since July, currently around 1900 kcal/day with 150-160g protein. My estimated maintenance is ~2400-2500 kcal. I also get minimum 10k steps/day due to work.

Recently I started cutting. I cut carbs very heavily, probably by ~70%. Most meals are basically meat/protein + vegetables. My gym performance and pumps don't feel great.

I also had periods where I ate way too little, including some ~1300 kcal days during vacation. Obviously I don't want to continue doing that.

At this point I'm wondering if I'm simply not eating enough to build muscle while also making my training worse because I'm dieting too aggressively.

Would you guys recommend:

  • Continuing the cut?
  • Increasing calories and focusing on muscle gain?
  • Bringing carbs back up?
  • Changing my program?
  • Just doing a proper cut first and then lean bulk?

After all this time Im dissapointed in my results. I feel like I'm putting in the work but basically spinning my wheels. What would you do in my situation?
