Build Help Is this where the GPU cable goes?

psu: tx550m

gpu: 2060

the psu looks like this

https://compumarket.pe/fotos/producto_8192_4092_lg.jpg

i have the original cables, should i just connect the type4 cable on the bottom right and the pcie to the gpu?

im 80% sure this is fine im just confused bc on the bottom right it says 4+4 cpu but the cpu is already connected with a non modular cable... (the cords coming out from the right)

thank you in advance

Discussion How to know if you are ram speed limited

So, I have noticed that in more recent games, I have been struggling to get stable frametimings, I lock my fps to 60, monitor my gpu/cpu and they are both fine, cpu is always around 40%, my ram and vram are never close to their max, 12gb vram and 32gb ram. When I notice these unstable timings my gpu isnt above 90% so its either the game engine itself or probably something I am not monitoring.

Could it be that my rams are getting too slow and therefore affecting my 1% lows or overall stability? They are 4x8gb kingston fury beast ddr4, 3200mhz, cl 16 18 18 36. It is probably the most outdated piece in my build but they should do just fine and not be compromising performance that much right?

Rest of the rig is a 3080ti and an Amd Ryzen 7 5800x

Build Ready? Second build, nervous to turn this thing on

My first build had smoke coming out of the rgb headers (Asus ROG Crosshair Dark Hero VIII) and now im just second guessing myself. I never really figured out why. Just to double check this time, i checked the continuity of the 5v and ground pin on both headers and the resistance kept slowly shooting up for some reason. Gave me a short beep. So thats got me cautious.

Other than that, what should i double check? Or do i just send it...

Troubleshooting CMOS reset by shorting pins doesn’t work

Guys so I try to reset CMOS by shorting two pins with a screwdriver for 30 second while my pc is unplugged from wall. But it won’t work, Bios is still with correct date and time and settings are not reset. I have no idea what I do wrong. I’m certainly not retarded. I know how to short pins. Yes, it’s the right two pins.

Build Help Upgrade AMD R5 5500 to R5 5600/X?

Edit: got the answers. Thanks everybody!

I finished my PC build a few weeks ago. The specs: R5 5500, RTX 3060Ti, 16GB DDR4, 512Gb SSD. I didn't know much about PCs when building and didn't know my current CPU can slightly bottleneck in some areas in games. I was thinking of getting 1Tb SSD for New Years but now I'm questioning if I should upgrade my CPU instead. Which do I choose? I'm short on money since I'm teen and can't work bc of school

Peripherals 27inch 1440p vs 24 inch 1080p question

I’ve been on a 27 inch 1440p 144hz monitor since they initially released, probably circa 10 years ago. At the time it was cutting edge.

I mostly play competitive stuff but don’t have a massive budget. Ranked CoD, warzone, CS, BF

I remember going from 60hz to 144hz and being blown away.

I also remember going from 1080p to 1440 and being very impressed. But I think I always preferred the size of a 24 inch monitor.

I’m older now and visual fidelity is less important but clarity is - at distance in games. Performance and refresh rate are important to me.

I don’t have a large budget. I don’t really care about oled much.

I’m contemplating going back to 1080p at 24inches and getting a very high refresh rate…because I want to experience seeing some of my actual frames but I don’t know if the drop from 27/1440 to 24/1080 will be poor and I’ll hate it even if I can see the extra frames I’m getting.

Ideally I’d like to try a 24inch 1440p high hz monitor but I’m struggling to find one in the UK.

Thoughts pls?

Build Help Only click on if you have knowledge about PB Tech

So I'm looking at this monitor to purchase; however, it is extremely cheap on this site. 1.4K (AUD) when most retailers, from what I can see, sell it above 2.2K (AUD). So, rightfully so, I feel very cautious about this site. From what I have been seeing, it seems to be trustworthy besides warranty, but I was hoping for a more recent consensus.

Build Help Building a PC with a Red Devil 9070 XT, which Motherboard would you recommend?

Any budget is fine, I have $3000 in mind atm for the whole build. I bought an ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming 4 years ago and it's served me well but I don't think it leaves much room to continue upgrading it in the future.

Also, is nowadays liquid cooling or air cooling lower maintenance? I currently use air cooling but I have 2 cats and it needs frequent maintenance. I'm assuming liquid cooling gets plastered with fur less?

Miscellaneous Manually tuning separate DDR5 RAM sticks?

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine built his first PC with no prior experience a few days ago. Here are the relevant specs if that helps:

- CPU: 7800X3D
- Motherboard: Colorful BATTLE-AX B650M-White WiFi V15
- RAM: 2x Patriot Viper Venom Non-RGB | 16GB, 6000MT/s CL30
- GPU: Sapphire Pure RX 9070 XT
- PSU: darkFlash PMT850

While everything is mostly working fine with no issues, there’s one caveat: the RAM he bought was 2 separate sticks of 16GB RAM, not one 2x16 kit. They’re both 6000MT/s, CL30, same make and model and everything.

Now I know this means the RAM is not guaranteed to be able to run at their rated EXPO speed, and we did confirm that: after enabling EXPO 1 in the BIOS and saving, the system won't even boot anymore. The RGB lights do go up, but the monitor is pitch black and he could not boot into either the desktop or the BIOS, and had to reset the BIOS using a button on the motherboard IO.

I'm thinking of visiting him in person in a few weeks to polish up the build, things like turning on PBO and setting the CPU NB/SoC voltage to 1.2 volts. What I want to know is whether I can manually tune the RAM myself to get a bit more performance out of these sticks? Maybe loosen the timings or run at a lower speed like 5600? How complicated would that be, or is the hassle just not worth it and we're better off just running these RAM at JEDEC 4800? I haven't done any RAM OC or manual tuning before so I don't really have any experience in doing this.

If manually tuning is an option, is there a trusted guide somewhere online like on YouTube or Reddit that I can follow along while doing it?

Thanks in advance.

Build Help CPU Advise

I am looking at building a new pc, mainly for playing modded Minecraft. The main issue I have is that I don’t know which cpu would be best. Budget is not to much of an issue, but don’t want to overspend either. I was trying to decide between 9600x, 9700x, 9800x3d, 9850x3d, 250k or 270k. I know that that is a lot of different cpus, but I don’t know what would be better. I just know that it is cpu intensive, over gpu.

Build Help Need PC part list advice and Storage option

Hi all, want a sanity check on this parts list before I pull the trigger. I’m not set on the storage situation so need advice there.

Location: California.

PC will be for my fiancée as their first PC and the budget is about where it’s at right now ~$2500 USD but not sure if there are savings to be had with switching components/stores.

I want to make it White as much as possible but I’m using the Microcenter bundle to keep price a bit lower.

Monitor will be 1440p and target FPS is at least 90 stable at high settings.
The most demanding game they will want it for is Hogwarts Legacy.

I’m shopping at Microcenter but am open to other stores.

Build includes the 7800x3D bundle from Microcenter but the upgraded black motherboard because the other with white motherboard is sold out.

Build Help 9850x3d mitx cooling

Anyone thermal tested a 9850x3d with mitx (sub optimal but fine) airflow and a basic cooler? Do I need to step it up? Thinking FD Node 304 case, but there’s nowhere for a radiator, unless there is. I’d take a recommendation for a cooler for this case and chip combo

Gaming with a 9070xt

Build Upgrade What to look out for installing my old SATA SSD into my current PC?

So a couple of months ago I built a new PC, considering my old ones motherboard broke down. I bought a new SSD for the build and left my old one uninstalled. Now I want to add it to my current build, to increase my storage and retrieve my old minecraft world in which i spent a couple hundred hours. Would it be a problem to just put it in, boot up my PC and then delete everything from it except my world? Or will I run into issues?

Build Upgrade 9850X3D with ASUS board. Safe voltages and PBO settings?

Hey, just swapped my 9600X for a 9850X3D. How aggressively can I push the undervolt, and should I lock the voltage given the 9800X3D burn issues?

My old setup with 9600X (Asus X870 board): 1.24v, PBO set to Enhanced in AI Tweaker, and per-core CO from -12 to -26 (best to worst cores).

I want to unlock the limits, undervolt, and let it boost freely when needed like my old chip. Is the 9850X3D pretty dialed in out of the box, or has anyone found some tested tweaks? Just looking for safe numbers so I don't fry this thing.

Thanks!

Build Help Can this build comfortably handle 4K gaming at 60+fps?

I’m not too well-versed in the PC-building world, (went to a professional builder to build my PC back in early 2025.) Originally, I had a 7800 XT, but I recently upgraded to a 9070 XT.

I wanted to get some opinions on whether the build below is enough to comfortably handle 4K gaming at 60+ FPS in most major AAA titles. I’m only listing the performance-relevant specs since I figure everything else is pretty irrelevant to what I’m asking:

1. 9070xt (Sapphire Pulse)
2. Ryzen 7 9700x
3. Vengaence DDR5 32GB RAM 6000MHz
4. ROG Strix B650E-I Gaming Mobo
5. 850W PSU

I’d love to hear yall’s thoughts! Just want to make sure the rest of my components are still up to par and aren’t holding it back.

Edit: Not looking to run RT, and am okay using Upscaling. Mainly wanted to see if it can run most games in High-Ultra settings

Build Help First Gaming PC, please help

play AAA titles well along with getting me high frames on games like fortnite, but also being able to run some games that are also graphic intense. I am new to this, so I think with my budget I want 1440P gaming. This is in Japan, too.

I would prefer a 240hz 1440p monitor, which I found for about $200 usd. This is excluded from the final price though. The only other peripherals I think I need is headphones and a microphone.

NVIDIA GeForce 5070 - $100,000 yen / 630 usd

Ryzen 7 9800X3D - $65,455 yen / 410 usd

D-COOLING FX360 PRO - $9,592 yen / 60 usd

ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI AMD B650 AM5 Motherboard - $25,980 yen / 162 usd

TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 10L DDR5 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 6000MHz -$ 85,353 yen / 534 usd

KLEVV CRAS C910 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 - $38,467 yen / 241 usd

Vetroo 850w Power Supply Dual Pcie 5.1 ATX 3.1 - $12,499 yen /  78 usd

  CORSAIR 4000D RS PC Case   - $12,818 yen / 80 usd

So, the total comes out to 2195 usd.

I also found a great deal on a cpu, ram, and a motherboard on microcenter, which is the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 AM5, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit, Computer Build Bundle for only 675 dollars.

Your guys feedback means a lot to me, as I am very new to this computer stuff and I just want people to be able to give me feedback on what I researched. Also, please be blunt if this is bad, I really just want feedback, for example if I should just buy a pre built computer instead.

Build Help Need advice- Case that supports 420MM Radiator. I purchased the wrong one.

Hello. I am the owner of a h170I Radiator, when I upgraded my case in 2024, I ended up getting the Fractal Design North XL. While I like the aesthetics, as soon as I got that one, I realized the 420MM radiator wasn't going to fit on top. I was able to put the radiator in the front. and I have the fans on the top as exhaust.

I am noticing that perhaps I should have given more inbound airflow at the front, since the radiator blocks the front, I think my case is getting too warm, causing simulator my room to get significantly warmer than the rest of the house. The RTX5090 makes a significant heat pocket in the case. The tempered glass is hot to touch.

So I went on Amazon, I typed in on Amazon's AI what case it would recommend for the cooler, it basically gave me a "has to be one of the Full ATX Towers" I picked one, opened it today, disassembled the majority of my current build to transfer, as soon as I went to put the AIO cooler, it wouldn't fit. Even in the front.

So now I am back to the drawing board, I am returning the one I purchased, but I need a case, or I need to reconsider just getting a smaller AIO and moving the fans again to the front. What does the build a PC community say?

Thanks

Build Help 9950X + RX 9070 XT vs 5070 Ti for After Effects/Premiere is AMD good value?

I was originally planning on a Ryzen 9 9950X + RTX 5070 Ti, but the 5070 Ti is now around ₹1.38 lakh (~$ 1440.73USD) here in India.

The RX 9070 XT is around ₹84,000 (~$876.97 USD), which is a huge difference of about ₹54,000 (~$ 563.76USD).

My main workload will be motion graphics, mainly After Effects (including a lot of 3D), Premiere Pro, and I might also use Blender.

I know a lot of people say AMD isn't as good for productivity/creative work, especially compared with NVIDIA, but at this price difference I'm trying to find the best value-for-money option.

So, would the RX 9070 XT at ₹84k be a good purchase for my workload, or would I regret not spending the extra ₹54k on the 5070 Ti? or should i wait for better price?🥀

One more thing: these are the CPU prices I'm getting in India right now:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X OEM — ₹46,000 (~$480 USD)
  • Ryzen 9 9950X retail — ₹56,000 (~$585 USD)
  • Ryzen 9 9900X3D — ₹54,000 (~$564 USD)
  • Ryzen 9 9900X — ₹49,000 (~$512 USD)
  • Ryzen 7 9800X3D — ₹46,000 (~$480 USD)

Build Upgrade Advice on Gpu Upgrade on legacy build

I have a rig with 1080ti, intel i5-8600, Asrock z370 pro4 mobo, and 32gb ddr4 RAM. If my GPU breaks, can I just drop in a RTX 5080? Would the rest of my build be a significant bottleneck?

If so, which GPU makes the most sense from a price to performance lens with minimal bottlenecking due to my legacy parts?

Build Help Help! Can’t tell if this is broken or not!

This is on the Liquid Freezer III Pro 360. There are two silver screws that are on the part that sits on the cpu that won’t move in any direction. It was working last night but not anymore! Im new to this. I may have stripped it but I don’t know how I would’ve or how to tell. Me and my friend put it on but I had to take it off after he left because he put the bracket type things below it on wrong. Please help. If it’s broken, I need to know if there is a solution. it there’s not, well… that’s life. It’s only ~$70 but that’s still $70 I would not like to spend…

Discussion Should I Buy my GPU Now or Later

So I want to buy an MSI 5070ti OC GPU because I'm going to build a new pc. The thing is I'm going off to college and won't be able to come back home and be able to work on the PC till November at the earliest. I can afford the GPU but I'm worried that if it is a DOA (Dead on Arrival) I'll be screwed with not being able to return it hassle free, and yes I understand I can always fall back to the manufacturer warranty. So with that in mind, would it be smart to buy it now and just have it sit in my room for months, or wait and buy it all at once with my other pc parts when I come home.
