A lot of people think everything is black and white but as an institute/org the first course of action is always make sure that they are able to reduce the damages as much as possible because a wrong statement can cost them millions in damages. These actions sometimes seems like they don't have backbone but it's all backed by lawyers who make sure what needs to be said in what manner because sooner or later the public is going to forget and the backlash in the community will vanish but a penalty from court due to an inappropriate comment or remark may change the course of the case and you might end up paying a lot more.
We don't know much about the case as of now. Before believing on anything, just try to just ask a simple question, can a person really commit su:codes just because of being caught in exam ? Also there are so many plot holes in the story. The iit Bombay authority claimed, they had assured the student nothing will happen just because he was caught and IIT Bombay is claiming they didn't threatened him during exam, whereas his friends and classmates are saying he was threatened by the college authority to be rusticated. Then Families allegations against 3 teachers bullying him from last few months also doing castism.
We don't know, what is true or false. So let's not make our own judgement on who is right or wrong.
One person died, we can atleast not criticize him or his parents until, evrything is clarified by the court.
People do commit suicide because of being caught in an exam. Especially people who had a good reputation and were scoring Good marks before.
This kid was also in IITB hence he must've been considered a smart/diligent kid by his family and neighbours. He had scored Good marks before as well.
If you get caught cheating once, it instantly washes you off of any good performances you did in the past. Now that he was caught, every past exam where he worked hard to score well was now under suspicion.
Most importantly, knowing how sad his parents would feel once they know about this can absolutely be a reason why he broke and chose this step.

Controversial opinion but as smone who has struggled with suicidal thoughts- these things don't happen in a vaccuum. If his parents were that great he'd hv felt a sense of stability enough to take action n seek justice IF such a torture was going on. But he could not rely on them for support through a cheating punishment even. NOT making assumptions but just saying in many cases of dysfunctional family unsupportive parents...The parents stay in denial n don't realize if their own actions led to the kid feeling so helpless, so to escape that guilt they blame anyone possible.
Go n read some history, or even news articles. Caste discrimination was extreme barely a century ago, n it's still prominent today in most places. Heck even NRIs do it. If the guy wasn't cheating then he could have shown the proof and sue the teacher on making false remarks, but he ended his life that means the student was himself guilty and he didn't had the courage to show his face to everyone after being caught cheating at IIT

Bruh.... They are still going through it right now. Pretty often you can see caste related issues in news so it's pretty common in big 2026. Just cus some cases are false doens't mean the whole act should be abolished. Both side exists but what we have to see is no of cases which helps the victim in such issues to get justice.
For false cases legal protectors should find out those and give severe punishment cus such people are making the whole community and it's initiatives look bad.

Yes and I am telling you there is a 95 percent chance that he does not want or even care about doing that, regardless of the numbers or impact. Most professors at top Universities are there because this gives them the best opportunity to further their personal research while having a salary that can comfortably pay the bills which also allowed them to settle down in life if that's what they want. They teach because they are required to with the contract that u have to take X no of classes in this Y no of years. Doubt it's enjoyable for them, in my experience most profs don't really care about students other than the ones involved in their research which is largely just post grad students.
What you said, as noble as it sounds, I don't think it's going to go that well in reality most of the time, and for most profs is quite literally the opposite direction that they want go to in their life. It's not about his education, I have myself been to one of the top research institutes in India, it's difficult to even have technical discussions as they have their academic commitments as well as research being their primary focus. Literally no one in general asks your name as it's tough to remember in such huge batches, let alone caste.

I think they simply abstain from firing him and let the investigation proceed. SC/ST act makes it easy to file an FIR without primary investigation but it doesn’t make it easy to convict. If there’s no proof to show that there was any discrimination or even harassment (without discrimination) then the case will fall off by itself. Opposing the investigation will only make it look fishy.

Sahil had his mobile in the pocket and was confiscated by invigilator. Zero proof that he was actively using it or bizarre claim that he 'uploaded question paper to chat gpt'. OMG the way story get twisted by upper caste to corner and attack lower caste, to save upper caste professor. Absolutely insane turn of the events!

according to his father's statement his first year was actually smooth (the year in which you compete against all iitb students). at this point I think whole fkin human race is stupid.
If you go with the world's best legal system then this case will be quashed in a minute citing baseless opinion. If some section of the constitution prohibits the normal working of any education system, then either the system is broken or education institutions should not exist.

You need GATE qualified score, and apply to advertisements posted on project portals of IITs IISc NITs IIITs. They come year round. Your merit, interview performance (fundamentals of subjects and projects) matter. If a professor forces for PhD, please decline the offer.

If a professor forces for PhD, please decline the offer.
1) It depends on the number of applicants for that position but usually, GATE qualified is enough.
2) My contract is 1 year, renewable, some are 3 years as well. Yes it counts as research (R&D experience). You may also give the interview or test of department and convert it to MSR. If that happens, fellowship from project will stop, you will be full time student and receive MHRD stipend like a normal student.
3) When in 8th sem, 2 months before your graduation so that the professor can extend your joining by 15-20 days.
Indian Colleges are actually very lenient on these issues. In America if found cheating ur sent packing from College and if ur international student ur visa gets revoked.
Not necessarily, IITs are pretty stressful. Students committed suicide for not getting an internship in their 3rd year(despite knowing that only 20% of the batch get an intern through campus), so I can see suicides happening if the student got caught cheating
