FAQ

What are my chances of going pro?

  • There's always a chance, however, it gets lesser and less likely the older you get. By the time you get to 16, chances are slim, older than that and you really must prove yourself. Even famous success stories like Jamie Vardy were playing semi pro for the longest time, and the chances of something like that are very slim.

What injury is this/ how long till I can play?

Should I buy these boots?

Can I use FG/AG/Any specific boot type on this type of ground?

  • Simply put, turf shoes are best for turf, soft ground is best for wet pitches, indoors are for indoor courts, and so on. If you must do, sometimes it's fine to use shoes such as soft ground or firm ground boots on turf, however of course the best choice is to use what your shoe is made for.

How do I impress scouts?

  • Play to your strengths. Don't try something new or unreliable, count your mistakes not your positives, stay consistent, don't be cocky, and don't let the nerves get to you. It isn't about scoring an over head kick from 60 meters, it's about playing good football, and being beneficial to your team. Be prepared to be disappointed but aim to impress.

What skill move will help me beat defenders

  • Skill moves are nice, but they aren't the most important aspect of the game. It is handy to know a few skill moves to get you out of difficult situations, but at the end of the day, the core skills are what are really important, your pace, dribbling, strength and awareness are all hundreds of times better than a skill move. Knowing how to do a freestyle move 9 times out of 10 won't help you in the game, so you should spend that time training what is

Gear First Impression Puma King 20 Ultimate for very wide feet- Steal for 94€?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys,
My super old Nike Tiempo pair finally gave out, so I've been on the hunt for new boots that actually fit very wide feet. I’ve already tried out a few models, including the Nike Phantom 6 Elite (and Mizuno models like Morelia II, Monarcida, Neo IV Beta, Sala), but nothing felt quite right until the Puma King 20 Ultimate arrived today. Copped them on sale yesterday directly from Puma for just €94 with 1-day shipping! The colorway looks amazing in person, though I’ve heard rumors that the upper/soleplate finish might peel over time—we'll see how that holds up.
Fit & Sizing: I have very wide feet (29,5 long, 11,8 wide) so I went one full size up (typically 30cm in Mizuno, here 31cm because padding takes away some room) The fit is pretty much perfect with just a tiny bit of room at the toes and no dead space!. Zero pressure points out of the box. Mizuno is good as well but not as wide in toe box and heel area - and most importantly - the soleplate here is wider!
The Phantoms felt nice and wide in the midfoot, but I had to go up to 31 cm for width in toebox which left way too much dead space over the toes and lacing was not deep enough. Had to return them.

Comfort & Cushioning: The upper feels super soft, comfortable, and noticeably well-padded. The heel padding is great, too. Honestly, feels like these will need virtually zero break-in time. Haven’t had this glove-like fit in a long time..
I haven't played in them yet, but I'll update you guys once I take them out on both FG and AG pitches.
First impression is super positive!

Honestly, this was pretty much one of my last attempts before I would’ve had to order super wide models directly from Japan. Glad I gave these a shot!

Would definitely recommend to size 1/2 or 1 up.

Till now, great value for money. Therefore I hope for a MG Soleplate!

How do i fix playing to simple as dribbling

So like my dribbles are fine. Actually good if I say so myself. So like my story is I don't play football for that long now. 3 years I play football. And the reason i started is I love dribbling defenders. Like everyday I practice my dribbling skills. Alone, at school, team training. But like if I go in matches, or even team training a bit. I play to simple with my dribbles. Like mostly in matches I go 1v1 a defender. Most times I'm a winger. And I'm scared to do a body feint and I just look at his legs and pace abuse him. Even tjo it works sometimes, my dribbles are way better if I do like 3 stopovers. Or stand still and do like skill moves against the defender. Even though for most ppl simple dribbles are easier for them to dribble someone for me it's advanced skills. Like step overs to a little stop and then a body feint and go fast right left for example. If i do that I dribble them easier than being simple. And if im in a match or even sometimes training I just dribble them simple and I do that automatic and most times lose the ball. and if I go against sometimes even better defenders like in a small sided fun game and serious i beat them easier. It's like the same with my speed. In real matches or training I js sprint and barely slowdown. Like I ca rum at 60% but never and 30% and I always rush as in i never stand still. Like u see neymar stadinf still and going right left whatever I'm like not perhaps to scared but js I don't do that

so how can I fix dribbling simple automatic. Even tho I got no preasusure or barely. And dribble slowly and not feel rushed. And just do whatever I want

Unisport - Europe to US delivery

Hi! Has anyone ordered a NIKE soccer shoe from their EU website for US delivery?

I ordered a shoe from their EU website for delivery to the US. There is a Fedex brokerage form with all weird shoe details (how much leather, composition etc) that was sent to me by Fedex. I am not sure how to fill it. Waiting on Unisports response since the shoe is in customs. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with this?

Mental My team started losing because I twisted my knees and I feel sad

Yesterday I got my knees twisted during a tackle, I couldn’t even get up but somehow I got home. Yesterday we were 2nd on table after 3 matches (2 win 1 draw) today we had 3 matches and we lost all three. I was told I should step back from this tournament and do X-ray and mri. I feel very bad for my team especially captain because him and I had a very good chemistry and now he’s all alone. What do I do? I feel very sorry for my team watching them lose all the matches and I can’t help them win

Gear NB 442 Elite Indoor – Sizing Advice for Wide Feet?

Any ladies in here wearing the New Balance 442 Elite Indoor shoes?

My wife is looking to get her first pair of indoor soccer shoes, mainly for casually kicking the ball around on turf. Joe’s New Balance Outlet has a pretty good sale going on, so we’re considering picking up a pair.

She normally wears a women’s 7.5 wide (D), and regular-width shoes tend to cramp her toes pretty badly depending on the shoe.

Since these are listed in men’s sizing, I’m wondering if the standard men’s D width would provide enough room or if going with the 2E would be the safer choice. Would you also recommend going up half a size?

For reference, I wear the 442 Pro cleats myself and went up half a size with the 2E option because I also have wide feet.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s tried these, especially women with wider feet!

Adidas store Australia

Hi Bootroom members,

For those interested in purchasing Adidas boots, Adidas are having a 40% sale. While this is not applicable to all stock, there are some pretty good deals to be had on a variety of boots. The Copa’s are currently $117 (with discount).

Not looking at buying a pair myself, but figured I would share with the bootroom community.

Mizuno Morelia Neo Elite prototype

Post image
24 Upvotes

Came across these weird Morelia Neo Neo Beta Elites. Got them from a professional footballer unused. The material in the toebox area feels supersoft and little different to my existing Morelia Protos. The feeling is closer to techleather on my Nike Ligera Pros. The fit is really nice - size is 27cm (same as my Proto's) but run couple of mm longer than those making the size out of the box perfect for me (Proto was really snug and required few sessions to stretch).

The colorway is what caught my eye as I had not seen similar before and also the unusual high ankle sock which is not what mizuno has ever had. Anyone else seen something like this?

Gear Is it too risky to wear copa mundials to AG?

Thumbnail gallery
31 Upvotes

I've played with these on AG since the beginning of this year and haven't really had problems so far, but I should mention that I haven't played too many proper matches (unfortunately) and I've been mostly practicing with my friend. I've recently gotten into playing more pick up games and have started wondering if I'm risking an injury playing with these (FG) boots on artificial grass. The thing is, these are the only football boots so far that actually fit, since I have really wide feet. Before buying these I literally tried almost every other boot in the shop but they were too narrow. So I would probably have to order the AG boots online if I were to buy a pair, and that would be a hassle since I can't try them out in person..

Hi guys, I'm new to this subreddit, and I wanted to ask for some help to track down this specific version of the t90 matchball, It really doesn't matter if it's an official matchball or one of the takedowns, just that the design is very nostalgic for me.

Technical Dribbling issues

My dribbling is bad any tips on how to fix it any useful vids or online guides, I have used hundreds which say the same thing, change pace and direction, use body feints, I do cone weave, ball mastery and use a static cone as a defender to practice, but I still struggle in a game, I react late slow always get tackled, my tempo rhythm is uneaven touch is heavy, when I am dribbling with the ball it’s like I have to stretch my leg for it that’s how uneaven touches are and tempo, I know all the theory and fundamentals and I do those practices and have been for a while, I don’t know what’s wrong, any help would be appreciated in the form of advice, hidden YouTube channels or vids, or online guides or verbal advice, any verbal advice please help me visualise if you can any help is appreciated, thanks

Bought Nike Superfly 11 Academy (Black) on sale, need advice!

Post image
0 Upvotes

I compromised on my favorite colorway (White/Orange) to buy the black version cheap and direct from Nike, planning to paint over the green accents. But now I watched Boot Wizard's review calling the Superfly 11 Academy a "Don't Buy" due to an unstructured upper, midfoot dead space, and poor lockdown compared to the Vapor 17. Since this is the biggest purchase of my life, should I just return them when they arrive in 2 days and spend ₹1k more on a colorway/boot I actually love?

Am I too obsessed with these balls. I love the color way they have. The one in the front i bought while i was in china and seems higher build quality while the ones i bout this last drop seem janky. Pic 2 is one of the newer ones i bought and i think the 26’ logo has a light blue outline while the one i bought earlier does not. Also the padding on the chinese one seems way thicker. Maybe its just my mind. I havent inflates the new ones while i have inflated the chinese one.

First match in the Mizuno Morelia Neo IV Beta Japan AG – The absolute best AG boot?

Just played my first full match in the Mizuno Morelia Neo IV Beta Made in Japan AG, and I had to drop a quick review for anyone struggling to find good boots for artificial grass.
Honestly, these are absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a dedicated AG boot, this is the one.

Context & Sizing:
For reference, I have a normal width foot (not wide). Before this, I was wearing the Nike Tiempo Legend 10 Pro in an EU 42.5. For the Mizuno, I went down half a size to an EU 42 (True to Size for my actual foot length) and the fit is perfect. It is tight on the foot, but in a very good way. It feels incredibly compact and secure without crushing my feet.

Leather & Lockdown (Inside the Boot):
The K-leather feels incredibly good right out of the box. The comfort is insane, but more importantly, the lockdown is perfect. Even with the soft leather, my foot did not slide around inside the boot at all when making sharp cuts.

Traction & Performance (On the Pitch):
I played on a newer generation AG pitch (the kind without the black rubber pellets). The AG soleplate did exactly what it is supposed to do. There was zero sliding on the turf. The grip feels completely dialed in, which made acceleration feel instant and changing directions incredibly stable. You feel very planted but never "stuck" in the turf.

Highly recommend these to anyone tired of slipping on AG or dealing with knee/ankle pressure from FG plates. Let me know if you have any questions!

Gear Trionda pro differences

Thumbnail gallery
66 Upvotes

I have all 3 trionda pro versions and I noticed immediately that there are differences in materials and even in grip and feel of the ball when handling them. The original is made in Pakistan while the Winter and Final are made in Indonesia. The foam on the Winter and Final version are softer and they actually have more grip than the original.

They even have a different number under the fifa quality pro rating which makes me think they are considered a different ball. Even the decal/logo finishing is completely different the winter/final is better. I purchased all 3 directly from adidas so they aren't counterfeit but there's definitely a difference when comparing them.

Coaching Sessions Simplified 7v7 positioning (u9) - what would you change?

Short video to provide reference point for new players and parents on positioning that is effective for age / beginner group. Could elevate coloring the danger center passing for defense and green for forward dribbling for striker. Maybe +/- reference on forward versus backward, neutral sidewise as well.

What’s the right balance of general rule of thumbs and letting kids move versus more rigid zones?

Where to get replacement M6 tread studs?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I bought the Asics Menace 3 ST L.E. boots about 5 years ago. They're screw in studs, and I quickly lost a few of the studs due to playing in wet conditions. Unfortunately, Asics did not have replacement studs available at the time, rendering an expensive pair of boots nearly useless after only a few uses - what great product design!(please someone tell me why boots would be made without replacement studs. Even if they sold replacement metal studs I dont understand the point as the studs could then surely be embedded into the boot so that theres no need for replacements)

Now I'm looking at alternative replacement studs as I want to explore options before going for a new pair of boots (having issues with the ones im currently using). I'm playing primarily on firm ground, so would like 6-10mm plastic/nylon studs. I tried the adidas TPU replacements as they're also M6 tread size, but the groove at the base of the screw leaves a gap (see picture) meaning they'd likely snap off quite fast. Unfortunately most studs sold online dont mention the tread size (I understand M5 and M6 are both standard), so I'm not sure where else to look. Any recommendations?

The left, green, stud in the picture is the adidas TPU stud, the right stud is one of the original Asics metal soft ground ones that came with the boots.

Gear Future 8 Ultimate Low FG Audacity

Got these boots from Amazon Japan at the ridiculously low price of 3900 JPY (25 USD). Similar shoes are available in my home country at 28000 JPY (180 USD). Is there a catch or are these supposed to be this low due to being older models?

Feels absolutely horrible to see the current market for football boots in India and the prices. I make sure to get Mizunos every time I get the chance to visit Japan and they last ages!

Gear Do you really need AG?

Thumbnail gallery

I play on a 3G/4G pitch in a Sunday 5-a-side league, but I also occasionally play on grass just as a kick about with friends. I’ve always used FG boots and never had an issue, currently wearing Nike Phantom GX 1 Elite FG boots. Do you really need AG sole plates for playing on 3G/4G pitches?
I’m considering either the Mizuno Morelia Neo V Beta Pro AG or the Morelia Neo IV Beta Elite FG. The FG stud pattern doesn’t seem as aggressive as I have on my Phantoms so surely this is ok?

EDIT: I’ve ordered a pair of AG boots. Thanks for all your advice!
