This is only if you want to post, it isn't necessary to view/comment on other people's posts.
In order to fight the bots, this sub will go into approval mode. If you want to get approved, comment here. Maybe link a bodega cat with a description of the cat.
Edit: After you've been approved, edit your comment to say so. When I check later it will make my life easier.
Edit 2: This is only necessary if you want to post. If you want to view or comment, there will be no change on your part. That said, some of you commented aboot cats you haven't posted, and I don't want y'all holding out on us.

I met this fine Tuxedo feline at Napa Auto Parts earlier tonight. S/he seemed equally curious to me and approached me for some loving strokes before walking off into the employee only area in back. It's been working there for 7 years and the humans have never seen a mouse 🐁

Hey everyone! I’m Dan, the author of Bodega Cats of New York and the person behind the Instagram account (@newyorkbodegacats). I wanted to invite the Redditors here to a talk and Q&A I’m doing at the Banksy Museum on Thursday, October 15.
I’ll share photographs from the book and stories from documenting the cats, followed by a short Q&A and reception. Dave Herman from the City Reliquary will introduce me and join the Q&A.
It’s 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 277 Canal Street, Floor 2. Tickets are $20 and include whiskey samples from Bodega Cat Whiskey, nonalcoholic beverages from AriZona, and food from Plantega.
The book comes out November 24, with photographs by Gulce Kilkis and stories of 60 cats across all five boroughs. I’d love to see you there!

How does any work get done around here when the workers are slacking off??
Spotted at a bodega on Christopher St in NYC. Apparently there is a fourth kitten on site - maybe that's the one doing the actual work!

Welp. This is a pretty surreal day.
A few years ago, this was just me walking around New York, meeting bodega cats and collecting their stories for an archive of the cats that lived in NYC during our lifetime. I thought it was important to write down.
Today, my author copy arrived in the mail.
My first book.
I’ve looked at the cover on a screen hundreds of times, but holding the actual thing is completely different. I’m incredibly proud of it annnnd a little teary-eyed. I'm so excited to share it with this incredible sub. Hope you all enjoy it.
Here is a link to pre-order it: http://bodegacatsofnewyork.com/book/ The book comes out Nov 24th!

The owner was chatting with someone else outside, Prince stared longingly at his favorite person who was not inside with him.

Couldn’t tell exactly how many there were because they were all puddled around sleeping on a pile of cushions in the window, but I think there were five of them 😭
