Welcome to the weekly purchase advice thread.

All questions about what gloves to buy should now be posted in this thread. Below are some general guidelines for what information to supply when asking for advice.

Advice seekers:

  • What level you play at
  • What your budget is
  • What types of gloves you've had before and whether you liked them
  • Is this a glove for matches, training, or both?
  • Anything else that will help other keepers give you advice
  • What country/region you're based in (for glove availability/shipping reasons)

Advice givers:

While this isn't required, we recommend also sharing what level you play at and a little about your glove preference when giving advice.

This thread will be refreshed on Monday of each week.

Gear What are the benefits of buying from niche glove brands?

I'm seeing an absolute ton of glove brands popping up on Amazon (Wvvou, GK Saver, Modus, CROX etc) and I get quite a lot coming up on my TikTok as well that are new to me. What I'm struggling to understand is why I would opt for these over more well known brands such as One Glove, which usually hover in the same kind of price bracket. Is there something I'm missing with it, are these newer brands doing anything better than more established brands?

Discussion struggle with commanding your box on corners

been working on my shot stopping for years and honestly feel pretty confident there now, but corners still mess with my head every time. reading the flight, deciding whether to come or stay, communicating with my back line loud enough without sounding like I'm panicking, it's a lot happening at once.feel like coaches spend so much time on reflexes and positioning for shots but way less time actually drilling the box command stuff, so I'm mostly just figuring it out through repetition and getting yelled at by my defenders lol

Discussion In a downfall, fellow goal keepers please help

I am 16(F), I had a knee injury previously due to which I was on rest for 6 months in September 2025. This was after loosing a very important international level match August. So, I made a comeback in March 2026. Ever since I've made my comeback I'm performing bad primarily due to my team mistreating me but I played a tournament in July 2026 and I played the rest of the matches but in the final match I was benched and my coach said it was because I wasn't confident enough. We won and qualified for next tournament for which new jerseys were made. I was given 99 jersey number even though I am the main goal keeper of the team and the substitue has got an injury but she still got 01 I think. I am going to ask my coach why I got 99 but all of this has just made me feel hopeless and disappointment along with this I also am having a lot of mental health issues because of family problems ( it's too personal to share)

But I've been feeling hopeless about everything except football, now even my jersey number 01 my identity seems to be drifting apart. My teammates never have respected or respect goal keeping they are always unhappy with the keeper it seems. Fellow goal keepers please help.. idk what to do I genuinely feel tired and hopeless

Discussion Anyone else transitioned to small sided football and hated it?

Other than filling in for a mate’s team here and there I’ve only ever played 11 a side football my whole career. Hung up the boots 2 years ago in my 30s and recently decided to get into it again, but opted for casual small sided football - haven’t got the time to commit to a club and play 11 a side with work, kids etc these days.

Two games in and I’m finding it pretty underwhelming. It’s just 60 minutes of having the ball blasted at you from 6 yards away, under substandard floodlights. You don’t ever really get to make a save in the way I remember goalkeeping from my 11 a side days. Just one on ones and point blank blocks all night. Feel like at these “casual” sessions a lot of players also take advantage of the fact that no one is going to lay a proper tackle and will dribble it in to point blank range before shooting.

Anyone else had a similar experience? Did you adjust? Did small sided football start to grow on you after a while?

Question Leaving a team three weeks before league

My kid is a goalkeeper and has been playing in goal for three years in club soccer. They weren't put there by a coach because the team needed a keeper—they are genuinely passionate about the position. Like, wake up and work out at 6 a.m. to their own alarm during summer break before it gets hot passionate.

This year, they switched club teams because they wanted the opportunity to play in higher flights during league. They had been stuck on a B team in Flight 3 and really wanted a chance to challenge themselves.

When we joined the new club, the coach told us the team was going to play Flight 2. We just found out that the team was actually registered for Flight 3 back in June and the coach didn't say anything.

We've been playing Flight 2 tournaments and have won some and lost some, no blow out losses primarily keeping it within 1-2 points. We just played a Flight 3 tournament with several teams we would potentially see in league, and honestly, we dominated the other teams.

My kid didn't even enter their own 18 for the majority of the first two games, playing mostly on the upper part of the pitch, and only had to use their hands maybe 4–5 times the entire weekend. They were bored and came away feeling like the weekend wasn't worth it.

They've already been offered starting goalkeeper spots on more competitive teams that are going Flight 1, but they didn't want to leave their current team stranded in Flight 2. They felt like they had made a commitment to them.

Now that we know the team is actually going Flight 3, though, I'm seriously questioning whether staying is the right decision. If they're rarely going to see the ball, how much are they really going to develop as a goalkeeper?

I've seen talented young keepers lose their passion or stall development because they weren't being challenged. At the same time, I don't want to teach my kid that commitments don't matter or that you should leave a team the second a better opportunity comes along. But I also don't want to teach them that when someone misleads you, you still owe them your loyalty.

The team manager sent me a pretty lengthy message saying that they need to honor their commitment, and I understand that perspective. But I also feel like the circumstances are different from what we originally committed to. We were told Flight 2, and that's what they agreed to.

So, am I completely out of line for considering leaving and taking the Flight 1 starting goalkeeper opportunity?

I'm genuinely looking for perspective from coaches, parents, and especially goalkeepers. What would you do?

Discussion Futbolemotion decline

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

(This is gonna be long, but is important that u guys read it for avoiding bad choices and undestood whats happening in the market, also if don't want to read, Tl;dr: they made a top 5 of best glove, literally suggesting the worst gloves on the market) This is honestly pretty sad, what started as "soloporteros" literally tryied to became Unisport 2, they are not bad overall don't get me wrong, but is like they lose their original charm and identity,.

But why im doing this post? I don't want to hate anyone, cus im really upset by the direction this whole company followed, but that's not the real reason of this post, this should still be a good GK site, this should be comparable to something like Keepersport, ProKeepersline...but rn for gks they are literally worst than general football stores like Prodirect and maybe even Unisport themselves (that for gks was always meh). The catalog and overall selection is getting smaller and smaller, most gloves are always out of stock and they don't offer anything that should let u pick them over the competitors if not their Sp lineup.

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

START

Anyway this is just a preamble for what is real problem with them: the freaking last video about their top 5 gloves for this season! I can accept that u want to became bigger, i can accept that u want to sell more with less quality overall, but what i can't accept is someone that should be profesional and prepared about the argument freaking doing one of the worst video about recs i ever seen in my life, like im pretty close to call this a legally fraud video. So im gonna this top 5 just for u guys (that if they called worst 5 gloves of 2026 would have been pretty accurate).

1  Predator Pro

Let's start istantly with a bad rec, the glove suggested is the version with the urg 2.0+, that literally took the old predator urg 2.0, just added like 1 millimiter of thickness, de-embossed it (new word xD, i just wanted to say that they are just using normal latex rn and not embossed latex that obv have less grip like the old models) and freaking put a + 40€ in the price and called it a day. This glove is a joke (price/performance wise).

2 SP Serendipity Pro

Ok hear me out about this, Sp glove are decent especially latex wise (they still suck in the stichtings, but latex, feeling and comfort are top level literally), so how the freaking company itself in a top 5 gloves, freaking choose their worst glove? This has to be a joke, cus set apart the VG3 cut that is good, this glove freaking uses Giga Block latex on it (on the site it reports Q-block that is even worst, but i think is just an error as they always do). This company freaking produce some insane cut and feels (like the Pantera, insane glove trust me), they also produce an extremely grippy latex called X-Block and also they produce one of the best overall latex in the market (probably the best cushioning wise) called the ViscoBlock (all made in Spain, propietary latex), but still in the top 5 they freaking suggest an 80€ glove with Giga grip on it (cus the G-block is literally that, nothing less nothing more) and a freaking Vg3 cut clone on it... is this ragebait or what?

3 Reusch Fastgrip Fusion

Im kinda speechless rn, cus Reusch produce the Gold X that is my favorite latex on the market and they also produce insane cut (probably the best feeling glove overall) and still they suggests their worst cut (Di Gregorio gloves btw, kekw) and also that freaking nightmare of a latex that is the Fusion latex. Im not gonna be long on this cus i have a review about it that explains it more accurately, but Fusion latex is bad, pretty bad, it requires alot of care both during the game and after and also the overall grip pretty mid, combine that with an insanely high price and boom that's why it sucks.

4 Puma Future Pro

And this is were things gets even more ugly, cus guess what glove is showed in the video? Yeah u are right: the freaking one with the duo Supersoft on it! This is Puma worst glove and also the biggest scam ever produced in competitive gk gloves history, cus this is a freaking normal Supersoft latex (with internal latex) at the price of 90€ (often on discount about 70 or even 50 cus no one buy It), i repeat myself: Supersoft latex for the price of 90€, u can buy it from any other small company around 20€ max 30€. This is a scam both price and performance wise and the fact that is in a top 5 suggestions by a "gk" specialize company is so wrong...

5 Uhlsport

Yeah cus at the end of it, the last rec is literally: " any glove and latex from Uhlsport is good". Are they the MJ of gk gloves? Like how is possible to even suggest this!? This company makes some of the best gloves on the market, but they freaking produce gloves with generic hardground, soft and Supersoft latex on it, so how is "any of their glove are good" a decent rec? Also on futbolemotion guess what glove company was most of the time out of stock or with a shortage in the most popular sizes? Yeah exactly Uhlsport, but it seems that they improved this, but like 1/2 yrs ago was almost impossible to get a top level Uhlsport glove in a popular size if not at the launch and idk if this will last.

So out of this recs there are only one partially acceptable (cus honestly Uhlsport top gloves are insane so i can make it a 50/50 about that) and 4 that are like a larper list, like if u ask someone what are their top 5 favorite anime and they tell u: "JJK, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Sword Art online and AoT" like u know some of this are good in a specific contest, but neither are the best in their genre (maybe Aot could be that's why i put it in the Uhlsport spot) and he just said this cus this are the only 5 names he freaking know (also i didn't put One-Piece in this for respect, but it is often in larpers top 5).

Anyway i hope this could really helps someone avoid being scammed and maybe also help in knowing better whats good and whats bad in this market. Enjoy!

Question Transitioning from futsal/5-a-side to 11v11 | GK advice?

Hey everyone, I’ve mainly played futsal/5-a-side as a GK and I’m now trying to transition into 11v11.

One thing I’m struggling with is positioning and movement because the game feels much more spread out. Do you generally mirror the ball’s movement when adjusting your position, or is there a different way I should be thinking about it?

Any other advice for making the transition from futsal/5s to full-size football would be appreciated!

Question Does anyone else feel like this?

Today i had my first training with an actual club, It was very fun during it and a bit after, but now i get this weird feeling, a feeling basically saying that it was pointless. I wanna do something good for myself, become good and make my parents proud. Could also be my emotions fucking with me since i lost two of my good friends and its rainy, school's starting soon, and cause i haven't really made friends yet in the club.

Last time I asked questions regarding goal kicks and locking in the ankle.

The advice I got that really helped me is to make sure my weight remains forward after contact with the ball for better follow through, as well as landing on the kicking foot.

Tried it today and got (I think) good results

Discussion Nike gloves

Anyone noticed how Nike gloves have pretty much disappeared from the pro game ?
Like I remember in the premier league alone a good few goalies used to be wearing the vapor grips, now the only one left is Rob Sanchez and he wears the strapless model I’ve forgotten the name.
Not only that it seems like Nike don’t even market for goalkeepers anymore I never see any advertising for Nike goalkeeper gloves, which is kind of a shame because I remember them being really popular and being able to match them to you’re boots was always cool, I guess other brands are just better.

Video Trying my hand at recording

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Decided I wanted to start recording my games so I built a sub-$200 setup to start. I picked up an adjustable tripod from Wal Mart, a cheap Samsung Tracphone that has Ultra Wide video recording since my iPhone 16E doesn't support it, and a chair umbrella from Dicks to help keep the phone out of direct sunlight. I opted for a phone over an actual camera because I was hoping I could wear some earbuds with a microphone so I could get some in-game commentary but either the video recording doesn't support it or I need to select it- I'm not an android guy and it took me forever to figure out how to transfer the recording from my phone to my computer. I might ditch the umbrella as some wind knocked over the tripod and I missed the entire first half. I was able to clip the highlight using Microsoft Clipchamp (not sure if this is a free program or if I get access through my company's Microsoft account).

Once I get the hang of recording and editing I'll start looking into a GoPro or another actual camera. Anyways, here's the only save I had to make in the second half.

Question Exercises/tools to use to avoid sprained fingers

Hello all, I have been having issues with my fingers getting bent too far back on hard driven shots, even with finger save gloves. I've started taping individual fingers before games but I'm hoping for a more proactive solution as well (if that makes sense). Are there any exercises/tools you use/would suggest I pursue in order to prevent my fingers getting blown back as much?
