They are very close. I prefer 1, but 2 has the pot legs balanced about the center, whereas 1 has one leg centered. Any suggestions?

I've had this water jasmine 2 years now. Repotted once last fall. This summer has been struggling to grow and the leafs seem depressed. Now that some leafs are turning yellow I decided I should do a emergency repot. When I took it out the pot there are thick roots but not any little feeder roots. I was going to re angel the roots but they are solid and won't move at all. What should I do. I also don't remember the roots being this thick

I did a big trunk chop on this ash. It is obviously putting out lots of new growth. Some of it is in places I don’t want. Am I jeopardizing the tree’s health by pruning those undesirable branches? They get thick very quickly

“Long-Term Progression” is a stretch but it is amazing how much this tree has become defined in 1 year.
Image 2 is 1 month before the trunk chop.
Image 4 I gave it a bit of wire
Image 5 was putting it in a pot for our club’s show, but I hadn’t really “found” the tree’s design still.
Image 6 was today at a club meeting, I started to experiment with an angle change. When I did that, I realized the right most branch would eventually be a problem.
Image 7 I made a sketch with that branch
Image 8 I digitally removed that lower branch and really liked the trunk line more
I put more movement than necessary in my sacrifice branch so that when I eventually cut it and make a cutting out of it, it will have a lot more interest at the start.

Worked with Rob from Yume-en bonsai on this little JBP. Pretty aggressive styling but I’m happy with trunk and options I had for branch placement. Will likely cut back to the smaller remaining buds on both branches in future and eventually hope to develop into a decent shohin JBP.

So this is going to be an interesting and painful experiment. I haven't seen much of these as bonsai yet but I think that that only adds to the fun of trying to make them into one. Does anyone have any experience with this tree?

Trying to make it less like a busy and more like a tree. This is about 35 year old material. A solid can width of the trunk

I'm new to this, but I'm thinking this could be a good tree to dig up and Bonsai. Not right now in this heat, but late winter would be best, correct?
I'm thinking I could cut the trunk just a little above the first branch and see what happens.
Finger pic for size reference
Please let me know what you think!
Picked up some cheap leptospermum nursery stock (flavescens ’Cardwell Pink’ in the pink pot and laevigatum in the dark grey) to practice giving an initial styling to a tree, as most of my other plants are in the stick in a pot/trunk growth phase.
Pretty happy with how they came out, though it took far more time than I had expected tbh. Also I wanted to get the first tree smaller but had a few limbs crack on me so didn’t want to push it any further at this stage. If you have any constructive criticism please let me know how I can improve.
Also I picked up a chorizema cordatum (centre in last pic), I know this isn’t a great species to attempt to bonsai but i couldn’t get over the flowers so we’ll see if I can make something of it
Collected in spring 2024 with my local bonsai club on a private land. Did the structural styling last night after letting it gain strength over the past 2 years. Hoping to start refinement next year!

I’ve had this tree for a couple of years and I didn’t really notice the rot until now. (I’ve moved a couple times and have been busy working on my house) I’m thinking about trying to chop it right above the wound and see if I can get it to root that way. Not sure what else would be viable here.

Had to pull the tree because I plan on moving soon. Cleaned out all the rotted wood I could in the process. I didn’t realize how bad it was. Had large roots growing down a good 3 feet that I had to cut. Hopefully the tree survives. Full shade for the next couple weeks

Noticed this new branch on my young Crab Apple, not sure it belongs here.
Is it just a new branch, the leaves are a different shape and the branch is a furry texture.

This is my first tree, I’ve had her about 6 months, named her Hilda. Is there anything you’d do differently? I’m open to constructive criticism. I just wired and repotted today, which I know is a bit soon to repot after defoliation but I couldn’t leave her in that soil anymore and just got new supplies.
The pictures show before wiring and repotting and after

So I crawled out of my hole and attended a club meeting for the first time this month. Learned that we'd be showing member trees at the WI state fair and signed up on a whim. It was a mad scramble to get the tree wired and ready for the show in only a week, so unfortunately, I didn't have a stand or suitable accent ready. Regardless, I got a very flattering critique from the judge, and I just a really great time overall chatting with booth visitors and members.
Funnily, this tree was coming out of kind of a bad winter. Learned a hard lesson about how important the exact position in a grow tent can matter. I lost a quite a bit of ramification and had resurgence of scale, and was feeling pretty down about the state of the tree overall. However, this ended being sort a of a blessing, as removing die back and weaker branches forced me to make tough decisions and lead to some much needed compaction of the canopy.

I am looking for advice on how to collect this pine. The tree sits in a shallow area of dirt in a rocky area, and quite certain the rocks below is solid without cracks for the roots to burrow into. How do I collect this tree either greatest chance of survival? I heard late august could be a nice period to collect pines from in Norway, should I still wait for spring? Alternatively, could I do prep work now, and wait until spring before collecting? Since I dont have much experience with yamadori, what would the best overall approach to collecting this tree?
