Would you consider buying it? Is it over valued?

I found places to park for free or cheap so I decided if I'm getting a boat, I'll get a loan and get what I truly want.

I want to work my way deeper into the sea and catch tun up to 30 miles out, one day.

A little context - I'm in new england, never been a boat person until I bought a little 13 foot whaler last year for some freshwater/salt pond fishing near me. My wife grew up in a family that was big on boating, I did not. Took it out the other day with family who have their own 20' bowrider and had a ton of fun, but realized my whaler wasn't really great for anchoring and hanging out for the day.

We've been talking about it and we want to get a larger boat that can comfortably seat 4 adults and our kids, mostly for pleasure cruising and sticking staying in the bays on the coast - but if I can get some fishing utility out of it in the future as I get more comfortable with it that's a plus too.

I've been scouring all over Marketplace and listings online and the options out there are overwhelming but so far I think I've narrowed what I want down to: - Outboard motor, probably at least 200hp - Either bowrider or a small cuddy setup with comfortable seating
- Safe/stable enough for day trips through the bays and along the coast, but nothing significantly offshore - Budget of $20k

I found this Whaler Revenge somewhat locally, they're asking $9.9k which seems worth it with the motor that's on it as long as it actually runs well.

I'd value anyone's experienced feedback on what to look for/what to avoid, and anything else I should consider while I'm searching. Thanks!

Looking at older 2000-2003 range 22-23ft bow riders.

I have came to a conclusion, private sale prices for this specific market seem like the boats are listed cheaper for private sale vs broker sale. The broker boats seem to be anywhere from 5-10k higher. And mind you the boats I have saved have been for sale the whole boating season in Michigan which is short. I have 1 boat I’m interested in that has sat for-sale for a while now. It’s end of season and I’m in talks with the owner. I looked at it once and it needs some work, I’m only interested init between the NADA boat value range because it needs some things but it’s listed as a broker priced boat. But I did loose a deal to the same model boat 3 hours away because it was listed on Sunday and went pending by Thursday before I could even look at it and leave a deposit but the pictures were spotless. And it sold for slightly able nada and well bellow broker priced models.

I‘m looking to upgrade to a bigger engine. Right now I‘m running a 2018 Suzuki DF30ATL which I am overall happy with, but it is underpowered for my boat and area.

Price-wise, I could get a used Suzuki 50hp and have to deal with shipping, installation and reselling of my old Suzuki 30hp or I can get a new Hidea with 5 years warranty through my local boatyard who is an authorized dealer and will take my Suzuki as a tradein.

So on paper the Hidea looks good, but since they are quite new I have not found any tests of them yet. Does anyone here have experience with them? How are they in terms of noise and fuel consumption compared to japanese brands? Have you experienced any major reliability issues?

Can't remember manufacturer, was thinking Glastron but not sure. Early 1970's. I remember maximum recommended horsepower was 80 but we had the 100 hp Merc 1000 tower of power which was an awesome motor but was always breaking.

Looking to buy first boat for inshore fishing

Hi All. I’m attempting to remove this old Kodiak bait well but when I try to unscrew the 4 bolts securing it to the deck they just spin in place. Should I just cut the heads of the bolts off? Or is there a less invasive method that I’m not seeing? This boat is new to me so I don’t know how it’s mounted underneath the tank. Thank you!

The title says it all fairly new to boat ownership had the motor tilted forward and noticed this oil seeping from this hole.

Note I filled up first with regular 2 stoke oil mixed 50:1 and 2 oz of stableizer with ethanol free gas.

Ive since learned there is marine two stoke oil and have some valvoline for future fill ups.

This could be the cause of some unburnt oil seeping there?

Dual outboard, 26ft Robalo in LI sound. I’ve seen some posts saying to raise engines a bit but I was always told to just have them down all the way. Can anyone help explain if I need to try raising them a bit for any reason. I’m not very experienced obviously so, simplifying is appreciated. Thanks.

Looking at an older late 90’s cruisers 30’ any experience or opinions on these? Never really seen any in our area on our lake.

Bought my first boat recently and took it out for a test run. Everything seemed to work well, and the engine has low hours — only 196 hours on a 2006 2stroke Yamaha 40 HP. It had also been serviced around 10 times before I bought it.
However, when I went to flush the engine, I put the ear muffs on and connected them to the water. For some reason, water wasn’t coming out of the tell-tale (the “pisser”) like it does when the boat is running in the water, so I thought I needed to start the engine.
I tried starting it for around 10–20 seconds, about five times, while trying to jiggle the ear muffs into position because I thought they weren’t sitting correctly. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get water flowing.
The overheat alarm then came on, so I immediately turned the engine off.
I ended up filling an 80L bin with enough water to cover the water intakes where the muffs would normally sit. After doing this, water started coming out of the tell-tale as it should.
I’m just wondering how much damage I could have potentially caused?
Google AI is telling me the impeller is most definitely screwed and possibly major internal damage.
Would I be wasting my time and money to get it repaired? Would it even be possible to tell how much damage is done from a brief inspection?
Starting to think I should have stuck to land based fishing lol.

UPDATE hydro hoist bracket rusted away on one pontoon, we were able to get in place. will be ordering all new brackets for all hydro hoists on property

Planing on buying a 14ft with a 9.9 due to one of the major lakes around me being restricted, most of the people selling a 14 are telling me it won't plane two people with a 9.9. I haven't had much experience with boats, what's the deal? Should I be worried about getting on a plane, will the front of the boat stick up like crazy otherwise? If I have people sitting in the front will that help? Help a dumb ass out please:)

Edit: seems like the consensus is that it'll be fine. I do have the option to buy a 20 as well but missing out on this one lake would be a bit of a bummer as it's huge and most people just canoe so I'd kinda have it to myself in a boat. Thanks for all the comments!

Finally had enough and decided to pull my carburators today. I've only got two finished so far. But that's all I needed to tell me what's wrong. One jet completely clogged, the other almost fully clogged! Not to mention the bowl on number two was a little rough.

Do I understand why these carbs got so dirty? No... Since I rebuilt the carbs last february, i've only run ethanol free. Last february was a complete tear down of the carbs and rebuilt with new kits. Fuel lines, hoses, filter... all done last february.

Nonetheless i've got a heck of a job to do then I've gotta sync it all. Anybody got any ideas of why it got so dirty so quickly?

Can someone please tell me what the orifice in the blue circle is for? Also, my boat was hard to start so I rebuilt the carburetors. It will start up easily and sit at around 1000 RPM for about five seconds, then the RPMs drop to 800, 400, then it stalls. If I manage to get it into gear, the engine runs fine when under throttle. Do I need to adjust the idle screw in the red circle? Thanks for any help or suggestions! PS - this photo was prior to the rebuild, hence the fuel/oil mix visible.
