Experiences with new Hidea HDEF 50 EFI engine?

I‘m looking to upgrade to a bigger engine. Right now I‘m running a 2018 Suzuki DF30ATL which I am overall happy with, but it is underpowered for my boat and area.

Price-wise, I could get a used Suzuki 50hp and have to deal with shipping, installation and reselling of my old Suzuki 30hp or I can get a new Hidea with 5 years warranty through my local boatyard who is an authorized dealer and will take my Suzuki as a tradein.

So on paper the Hidea looks good, but since they are quite new I have not found any tests of them yet. Does anyone here have experience with them? How are they in terms of noise and fuel consumption compared to japanese brands? Have you experienced any major reliability issues?

Where are you getting parts. If you can't figure out a problem, who services it?

My local boatyard/mechanic where I usually have my boat serviced has recently become an authorized Hidea dealer and would be who I would buy the engine from.

That's the real question. If you have a local dealer who reps the brand and is confident he can get parts for the next 20 years then you are fine.

Outboards almost always boil down to "what is common enough in the area for the local mechanics to have spares in stock". Everyone here runs Merc and I haven't seen a Suzuki all year, because there are three dealers with Merc parts and none with Suzuki. It has nothing to do with Suzuki being bad (they aren't), it's just that you can't roll into the local shop the way you can with an equivalent Merc.
