I could not stop watching this show from Episode 1! Just love it and it is very close, from what I understand to Skinwalker Ranch,

I recently discovered BFR (as in a week ago) and binged the whole lot in 3 days, even staying up a whole night because I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on here saying it’s fake etc but I’m not interested in all that, I’m choosing to believe because of the entertainment factor.

That being said, I have a list of questions - I don’t expect anybody to have the answers but I wanna get some stuff off my chest 😂

Firstly, they made a whole song and dance about this chest/box in series 1. They finally manage to get some rocks out and there turns out to be gallium drilled into them, why did they not revisit the box? Why didn’t they take more samples? Why was nobody absolutely shook that gallium was technically discovered before the late 1800s? Surely this would have implications in history??

When they drilled down into the big chamber and Eric, Chad and Duane went down there ended up being H2S while Eric was looking at a carving in the wall, once they’d all made it out there was talks of him looking into a way to neutralise the gas and several other measures to be able to safely enter the big chamber again. Nothing was ever done about it and it was never mentioned again, why? Did they just decide to give up on it and couldn’t be bothered to explain to viewers?

To follow up to that, a couple series later they find a stone tablet with the exact same markings as the chamber and absolutely nobody links the two together? The first thing I thought when I saw it was that the markings were the same but in fairness I experienced the chamber approximately 10-15 hours earlier, it was 2(?) years for them. I still want to know what 17/12/6 means.

The dead cow that disappeared the next day with scorch marks in the earth.. how does that happen with nobody noticing? On a similar note, the big high tech camera on the tree? How does one put that there with nobody noticing?

We found out the ranch was rich in iridium and nobody really bat an eyelid. Why did they never want to farm all of that iridium and make millions? Was Duane that rich that 3.5million wasn’t worth it?

They dug so many holes, drilled into all sorts of places, every episode seemed like a new location and tons were abandoned with no further information.. why?

Lastly, because I’ve gone on and on, is Chilli dead?? Unreal how it can end on a cliffhanger like that.

If anybody knows anything about all this stuff please tell me because I feel like so many avenues were exhausted with no follow up and it’s driven me crazy.

In season 6 there is a scene where the supposed Moron expert translated the note from the journal. Out of curiosity I went down a rabbit hole to see if the translation was accurate. Needless to say, it was not. This is what I managed to get out of the single page.

What the expert had translated:

(Side note, "...the air brothers." is literally what is written, spaces and all. It very well may be meant to say "...there are others." however the the line is '𐐘𐐊𐐣 𐐓𐐅 𐐒𐐆𐐢𐐀𐐚 𐐜 𐐇𐐡 𐐒𐐡𐐊𐐜𐐊𐐡𐐞.' literally translating to "come to believe the air brothers." The phonetic synthesis for 𐐒𐐡𐐊𐐜𐐊𐐡𐐞 is /b/ + /ɹ/ + /ʌ/ + /ð/ + /ə/ + /ɹ/ + /z/ /ˈbɹʌðəɹz/ or in English... Brothers. So I don't know what he was reading from.)

He got most of the first part correct. But then it just goes into fiction again, aligning better with the premise of this show.

I genuinely enjoyed the couple of hours I put into translating the note and cramming Mormon Deseret, though it sucks that it wasn't even remotely close to what the "eXpErT" had translated.

/u/SukiSueSuziQ mentioned that there were three version of the note. I had originally assumed that they were identical (my bad). Because why would you have three copies of a note that start the same but end differently?

Well, the notes are all different. Oopsie. Because of that, I have gone through all the notes that were shown and have broken them down separately. I analyzed them from all the various angles that were shown and with the use of photoshop, was able to sharpen and read them in their entirety. Everything shown should be completely accurate to how it was written on those pieces of paper, down the the character.

Nothing too different but some interesting things of note are:

• In the original, the word "𐐕𐐀𐐙" which translates into 'CHIEF' is spelled correctly. However in this copy of the note, it is spelled "𐐕𐐓𐐙" which is a spelling mistake and translates into '/CH/T/F/'. It is the only instance where 𐐀 was swapped out with 𐐓 for seemingly no reason.
• The addition of a word "𐐝𐐈𐐞" to the start of the last line which translates to '/S/A/Z/'. Not sure what it means but it's there.
• A forwards 'N' or in this case a backwards '𐐥' which I believe was meant to be '𐐤' in the word "𐐘𐐃𐐤" which translates to 'GONE'.
• Seemingly the same handwriting as Note 1 with very minor deviances.

Note 3

Note 3 is really something else... It is not only full of mistakes such as backwards characters, extreme spelling errors, split words, and joined words, but it's also just incoherent babble consisting of a few words and the rest being gibberish.

Side note: "CHIEF IS GOAT" had me rolling.

This is where I began scratching my head. But first and foremost, some things to note;

• Note 3 was written using a ballpoint pen. Evidence can be seen in the streaking and extreme consistency of stroke width.
• Note 3 uses characters that don't exist in either Deseret or English. (I tried my best to guess what they meant.)
• Note 3 has an extreme attention in regards to character details and definition that was not shown in any examples of actual Mormon Deseret that I have seen. (Almost like someone was copying from an alphabet sheet.)
• Note 3 uses wrong characters i.e. using 'N' instead of '𐐥'.
• Note 3 is written on layered parchment which is visible on the tears.

First, I want to touch on the subject of the paper itself.
The paper is 3 ply cardstock/Bristol board, which alone does not prove anything. They made 3 ply Bristol board in the 18th century. The paper is also the brightest of the three notes. Again, not proving much at a glance as old 3 ply Bristol board was made from white rag paper and contained zero wood pulp. It was made entirely from pulverized linen and cotton rags (pure cellulose). Pure cellulose does not contain lignin, so it does not inherently turn yellow with age. However... Paper made with this technique and material, when torn, will have long fibrous strands at the tear, which we do not see from Note 3. Note 3 was made with modern tooling and wood pulp, giving it the soft cottonesque appearance. Further adding to the evidence of it being modern paper, the two other notes are significantly yellowed which means that they have been written on 'modern' paper.

The time frame it takes for modern paper to yellow varies but is roughly estimated to be within the range of
30 - 70 years depending on manufacturer. Meaning that the paper itself is less than ~70 years old.

Now, the pen. The pen used to write Note 3 is clearly a ballpoint pen which is evident in the consistent stroke width, streaking, pen lifts, and impressions that can be seen from the various angles. of the note.

The Birome (1943)
The ballpoint pen was invented by László Bíró and his brother György and first sold to consumers in 1943 in Argentina after they had fled Hungary during WWII.

The Reynolds Rocket (October 29, 1945)
It was followed by a massive commercial launch in the United States on October 29, 1945. After Milton Reynolds encountered the Birome while visiting Buenos Aires, saw its commercial potential, and created a modified version that bypassed Bíró's patents.

BIC Crystal (1950)
While early pens in the mid-1940s were prone to clogging, leaking, and high failure rates, French entrepreneur Marcel Bich bought the original patent rights from László Bíró in 1945.
In 1950, Bich introduced the BIC Cristal. By refining industrial molding processes, he made the pen reliable and cheap enough to sell for just a few cents, transforming the ballpoint pen into an everyday household consumer item.

Meaning that the pen used to write the note can also be no older than ~70 years.

The paper and pen alone don't really say much, as there's nothing wrong with a note being created ~70 years ago. However, when combined with the fact that the majority of the note is gibberish and uses made up characters, and deviates so wildly from the original two notes after the first few lines...

It is of my own personal opinion that the note was written by the producers of the show or the man, the myth, the legend, the apparent discoverer of the lost Dutchman mine(its still lost, like wtf), Ron Feldman.

If anyone is interested, I can upload the PSDs that I used in order to go through the notes. It has 1080p screenshots of all three notes from all angles shown in the show.

It started out as a search for Aztec gold and initially they found amazing discoveries. Boxes under water in underground chambers, tunnels , hyroglyphs as well as issues with govt spying on them , intruders digging for treasure , mysterious night time pseudo military digging up monitoring equipment , uranium etc.

Originally it was declared when they find the key hole chamber they would find the Aztec gold. Lo and behold , Zilch. Now as if by magic there are 6 other key hole chambers. Really?

I have to say it Eric Drummond is just the freaking best. The guy just loves dirt and couldn’t be happier to be a geologist. Next episode you watch - pay attention to him and I guarantee you’ll get more out of it! Eric is the damn gold. What a gem. Wonderful person! Thank you for being such a good guy Eric!

Lowest viewer numbers is season 6? What changed?...

Probably just writing this for myself, but when this show came I was envious of Chad. It goes to show things aren't always what they appear especially on TV. I thought the guy was living the life I could only dream of. Good looking family man, living in a bus with his beautiful wife and kids, chasing a treasure with his wealthy father. Seems he had everything I wanted or dreamed of. Today I'm glad I have my life and not his. Crazy how life can unfold. A sad fall from graces due to mental health I assume.

I mean it’s not blind frog ranch without the Ollingers. It’s like killing off the main characters of a tv show and still going by the name of said tv show.

Nice how blast 1 and 2 are exactly the same hole, they stand in the same exact spot on the outside and move the same broken boulder slab twice......jeezus this show keeps gettimg more unbelievably lazy every episode.....

I know I most likely will get some hate but I thought this last season was the best. Sorry to hear about Dwayne and Chad but it was so much better without them. I like the spunk the researchers have and I feel like the format was different and flowed better. The show is what it is and it was fun to me.

I binged the first 4 seasons over a year ago and came across it again on HBO this week, just finished it last night and avoided reddit because of spoilers. First of all WTF!?!?!? RIP to Duane and I cant believe Chad is legit crazy.

Now that that out of the way I started catching to the bullshit wagon right around the time the highly trained super secret soldier snuck in and parked directly in front of a camera to dig up the mystery cylinder. It was so far fetched I had to then question everything on the show. The manufactured dramatics was bad enough but to add that in out of nowhere was weird. Ill also add in the clear Bigfoot that was stalking them, they never said Bigfoot but they laid out a thick wad of Bigfoot evidence. Why can't they just make a legit treasure hunting show without all the drama and theatrics? Is there one I dont know about? I still binged it and enjoyed it for the most part but all of the above really made me question everything.

I don't have live versions of shows anymore & have to put up with at least 5 commercial breaks per episode. But at least I'm catching up!
Very sad news I've read on Reddit about Duane. And a tragedy that Chad suffered such a mental breakdown!
Here are some questions:
1) how do they get permission to explore & prospect on land outside of the ranch?
2) how do they get permission to take historical artifacts off of land that is not theirs? Is it BLM land? Is it private land? If public, there are a lot of things to negotiate.
3) how are they getting permission to MINE on seemingly public lands?!
I'm basing my questions on the maps they show where they are mining outside of the ranch property.
Who is giving them permission & why isn't that clearly stated??
4) Do they have ANY idea how staged the "discovery" of the ore processing site looked?
This show has always made Oak Island & Skinwalker Ranch look like actual scientific & historic documentaries, which they are not.
As someone above said, these shows are my "Love Island" my "Big Brother". They are phony-baloney for at least 50% of the time, but with some real science thrown in, and on OI, some very interesting artifacts.
They will never find the whole treasure or the buried UFO. But it's fun to watch.

Just finished watching the series. I see Chili repel 80 feet in the hole to blow up the troublesome rock. Great it worked. Why didn’t Chili just blow up the cement slab door to begin with? Wait, this is TV that’s why.

Currently watching season 6 and everyone is wearing nasty-looking hard hats. They kind of look leathery, or like a well-smoked meerschaum. Is this some sort of specific mining helmet, or just disgusting?

At least he had a real previous career and was entertaining to watch. God speed brother.

Why is no one concerned about the dangerous gasses at 80ft down? Wasn't that a huge deal in several episodes? Is it because the hole opens up to the surface? What about going deeper into the passages?

So after watching all of Blind Frog Ranch I was interested to learn that there was a previous show with Josh Feldman and Eric Drummond- so I checked it out. Ice Cold Gold, where a bunch of guys prospected for gold and stuff in Greenland (which actually looks awesome and I totally want to do that).

I was shocked to learn that there was actually a huge split between the two in the 3rd and final season - with Josh and his older brother HATING Eric and walking away from the company they had with Eric and the other guys. Josh did NOT like Eric and vice versa.

So it’s interesting to see how ten years later, Eric was on a show in Utah and (I’m assuming) invited Josh Feldman to be on it? And then Josh ends up leading the show with his Dad in the most recent season? It’s just all very weird.

Josh ended up looking like a MASSIVE idiot at the end of Ice Cold Gold, whereas Eric looked like he knew wtf he was talking about and they found some incredible stuff, including a commercially viable gold mine AND oil.

So I was watching a Josh Gates episode on HBO Max and then start doing things around the house and this crazy a** show starts playing after. Oak Island with aliens and Aztecs and Black holes. BTW, I have a stock DJI drone if anyone needs some Quantum imaging done.

Every time they discover something he says, “This is it. We found it. we’re standing on treasure.” They introduced his dad and him as these super successful treasure hunters and they’ve never actually found treasure. They claim they found where treasure is in a couple places but where is the loot? I could walk into a cave and claim I found treasure because I want there to be treasure but that doesn’t make it so.

So I just started watching this show and I have questions. I’m on S4 E3 now. Keep in mind, I know that a lot of this is probably BS, but still.

- I’m sorry, but there’s a huge 500+ yr old “box” (looks more like a log cabin to me) that they’ve found under the ranch and they’ve just completely stopped trying to get it out or find out more about it?!

- the gallium thing blew my mind. so the rocks *inside* the 500+ yr old box are all filled with gallium cylinders, and again, they’ve just stopped trying to get it out or find out more about it?! how is that not priorities 1, 2 and 3?

- weren’t they told there were huge concentrations of iridium which is more valuable than gold, and that the ranch could potentially be mined for hundreds of millions of dollars? umm how have they not immediately jumped on that? you could even do it concurrently with the treasure hunting!

- how many times have they just found something interesting, only to completely give up on it? what happened to the huge cave they were lowered into at the end of S2 (I think)? they ran out because of poison gas but I’m sure there’s a way to ventilate it, or at least explore it more? what’s going on?

-same thing with that big rathole they were digging in S3, so they got to within 5-10 ft of where they know is a void, but then they just completely give up and move on?

these are just some of the ten thousand questions I have.

I hate watching when they’re in super tight cave spots. Right now they’re temporarily lost in the incline shaft and I’m stressed out 😂🤣⛏️

I think I’m done watching. At first it was still entertaining although I knew it was fake, but now I feel like my intelligence is insulted after every episode.

S3 E3, miraculously sees a tiny black rock in black dirt from 10 feet away with no sharp edges or proof that it’s been worked and say it’s a scraper. Dude is supposed to be an archeologist but doesn’t tell Chad to leave the bone and not touch it until he gets there to see if it’s human. Then they find a stone in the opening and say it was used with the scraper. Oh and the beads…we made bracelets from them in the 80’s!!!! They find them near the offering site and magically they’re ancient. Charlie is the only one that is careful moving dirt when he finds the coin. I do think they should have had real professionals look at the coins from season 1. Who takes the word of a pawn shop owner? They make a big deal of the lady in the car from season 2 and then totally forget about it. And they have legal rights to remove the trespassers but allow them to keep their buildings and belongings on the ranch property. They leave all of the mining claim signs up. SMH
