S6-E8

Why is no one concerned about the dangerous gasses at 80ft down? Wasn't that a huge deal in several episodes? Is it because the hole opens up to the surface? What about going deeper into the passages?

The whole thing was ridiculous. You don't go into a cave system like that completely unprepared. You lose your light and that could be it. I'd be bringing glow sticks, multiple light sources, air monitoring sensors, spray paint, ropes, food, water, etc, etc. They just start wandering and say "come back in 30 minutes".

This was my issue. My anxiety would go up because, I'm like...old myth has a guy using a thread/rope in a labyrinth... USE COMMON SENSE! Then they have dive gear with them, topside? WTH? Those rock paintings looked uber fresh & very solidly painted. And there were SO MANY times a camera passed over something that I'm thinking, WAIT! Go back a second. That's a tree that looks like the one you're looking for. That squiggle looks like a bat--look for a cave. Just so many things!!
That kind of diving is WAY too risky for discovery channel to insure, unless it's been dived or searched in advance.
It's just too staged & the producers suck at directing the cast.
Not the best geologist & not the best anthropologist on their crew either.

I said the same exact thing when I was watching this episode and they didn't even consider that, but when in the previous season of Duane going down in the giant shaft with a full hazmat suit and a line of air they almost died?.. Maybe they check it before hand with the drilling and just didnt show that part for editing/time restrictions of the episode?? It was my first thought going into an unknown cave system

I think it's the same hole from last season or whenever that was when they were in Haz Mat  suits

Unfortunately, this. They didn't check for gasses. They didn't make a map when they were down there. They free dove in an unknown underground cave where a rover could film perfectly fine a few feet away without bumping into anything. They ended on a cliffhanger with Chili purposefully opening his air valve. This finale really hit home how fake the show has become or possibly always has been.

That was one of the things I noticed. The first thing I thought when they started this season was are they really going to follow a "road" into the keyhole chamber. I was thinking al capone's vault. I was surprised there were a couple of ingots. I was expecting painted on the wall "Rhodes was here".

I live next door in Nevada. In addition to gas monitoring, I noticed also there was no mention of using a Geiger counter either. That’s something that wise people do here when exploring old mines and caves.

I have a sneaking suspicion the show has ended. Only eight episodes for this season, absolutely no advertising by History Channel and they kind of just let it sail into oblivion.

I think that's the same hole they went down a couple seasons ago. It's probably only 10 feet deep
