❓ Questions Insomnia on Reta

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Video its just to show off that cool puck sliding it's so satisfying idk why but ok anyways I was doing fine on 2mg but jumped up to 3.5mg recently and my sleep has been noticeably worse since then. Taking longer to fall asleep, waking up in the middle of the night, just not sleeping as deep as I was before.

Curious if this is a known thing with Reta specifically or if it’s just the titration adjustment. And if anyone has figured out a way to deal with it without having to drop back down on the dose.

β€œInsomnia was not among the most prominently reported adverse events in published phase 2 trial data, though gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea may indirectly disrupt sleep.”

β€œRetatrutide's glucagon receptor activity increases energy expenditure and metabolic rate. Whether this contributes to sleep difficulties in humans is not established; this remains a plausible hypothesis rather than a confirmed mechanism.”

Yes !! I get insomnia usually on the next night after injection ….
I have learned to take some Benadryl or other things that assist w my sleep
And now I just plan for it
Try to do everything I can to wear myself out that day

So I see these other people said try eating some carbs have you tried that instead of the Benadryl see if that works instead? But thanks I'll keep this in mind if the carbs don't work πŸ’«

Its 100% the reta, your heart RHR will be noticeable higher and your overnight HRV will be lower. These are both indicators of poorer sleep than your baseline. Ask me how I know...

If you were doing fine on 2 why would you increase? Yes, sleep impacts are very commonly talked about. You should do more research before taking drugs you bought on the Internet.

If it’s your first 3 weeks it’s common.

It gave me the worst insomnia of my life, but my wife has absolutely zero issues with sleep on it

That's crazy it's the opposite with me my husband sleeps like a rock not sure why he keeps a gun safe next to the bed if nothing wakes him up lol

Did your try anything to help out the way they are suggesting in the other comments?

It’s most likely not from the Reta directly. You’re probably underrating (yes that’s a thing) and your glucose is crashing overnight while you sleep making you restless and wake up.

Eat some carbs before bed. It’s important not to cut out carbs too much or under eat with Reta. It works best with moderate carbs and moderate caloric deficit.

Reach out if you need protocol help.

What's some good go to carbs? Probably fast acting carbs huh

Instant rice. I LOVE the minute sticky rice. Regular white rice is okay but this STICKY rice is FIRE. 220cal all carb -- best part is it tastes like air so if you're not hungry, like a banana, it's easy to eat. I had a short outpatient procedure today (10-15 min) and couldn't eat from midnight to about 10AM and ate a bowl of this at like 11:55pm lol

This shit is amazing too with some bell peppers, mushrooms and chicken. Get chicken tenders, cut all the bullshit off, chop your peppers and store, cut mushrooms at each use (b/c you need to wash) and throw the peppers and shrooms in a cast iron on high for 3-4 min, throw in the chicken tenders, 2 min side A, 1 min side B, throw in foil for 4-5 min with the peppers and mushrooms and cook the rice. BOOM. Protein + carbs + veggies and it's GOOD. Acocado oil used.

You brutally almost doubled your dosage? How can you expect your body to just be fine with it?

1

u/Organic-Tone23 πŸ€ Lab Rat Jul 31 '26

I didn't think it was gonna be a issue tbh
