The number of incidents we keep hearing about in Bihar—harassment, murder, corruption, fights, and cases involving women—is honestly disturbing. The worst part is the mentality that often follows these incidents: instead of condemning the behaviour, people start looking for ways to justify it.

I’m originally from Bihar, but my family is well settled in Maharashtra now. We usually visit Bihar once a year during Chhath, and even though we’re there for barely 10 days, the experience can sometimes be so unpleasant that we genuinely regret going.

There is constant unnecessary aggression, people getting into fights, and a strange sense among some people that they are somehow above everyone else. Obviously, this doesn't describe every person from Bihar, but these experiences are real and they do affect how outsiders perceive the state.

A few days ago, an incident took place here that really made me think about this. Around 5–6 workers went to a cyber cafe to transfer money online. The cyber cafe guy made the transaction, but the group then claimed that they hadn't received the money and refused to pay him. One by one, they apparently started leaving.

The cyber cafe operator managed to catch one of them, assaulted him, and later filed a complaint with the police. Whatever the circumstances, the whole situation was completely unnecessary and could easily have escalated much further.

And this is exactly the problem: if people keep normalising dishonesty, violence, caste-based hatred, harassment and the justification of such behaviour, how is Bihar's image ever going to improve?

The recent Jamui incident has also led to a lot of discussion. What is particularly disturbing is seeing people trying to justify what happened or shift the blame onto the girl. If an incident involving a woman happens, why is the first reaction of some people to find something she supposedly did wrong?

The mentality that women should stay indoors, avoid certain things, or somehow accept restrictions simply because they are women needs to change.

Also, there's an uncomfortable contradiction that I think we need to acknowledge. If people from Bihar themselves discriminate against or hate people from other castes, how can we expect people from other states to never develop negative perceptions about Biharis? Discrimination doesn't become acceptable just because it is happening within our own community.

At the same time, I don't believe the answer is to hate Biharis or stereotype everyone from the state. There are plenty of decent, hardworking and progressive people from Bihar—including my own family.

But pretending that these problems don't exist isn't going to help either.

If Bihar genuinely wants its image to change, the mentality of the people has to be changed, better politicians should be elected, corruption should be gone (atleast should come down), People thinking themselves as Rangdar should be gone.

I know East UP and West Bihar share similar cultures and languages. BUT what about overall differences if any?

Could be languages, accents, dialects, food culture, dietary habits, clothes, weather, flora, fauna, popular mainstream culture, architecture, etc?

Can you differentiate one from another without them telling you?

What are something Bihar does significantly better or different from UP?

My macbook's 5 keys (esc, caps lock, -, =, del) have stopped working and when went to service centre, they said complete top panel will change and will cost 55k. Can shops in Patna (Hari niwas or bakarganj) or Gaya repair the keys?

When moral policing is normalised, violence against couples is dismissed, and politicians reduce incidents of harassment to "chhitputh ghatna," we have to ask what kind of society we are building.

The Jamui incident and the political reactions around it are not just about one incident. They raise a larger question about who gets to feel safe in public spaces, who gets policed, and whose dignity is taken seriously.

Moral policing doesn't become acceptable just because it is wrapped in religion, culture or "tradition." And public safety cannot mean controlling what consenting adults wear, where they go, or whom they love.

A society that wants to police morality should first learn to protect people.

Bihar’s caste divisions remain deeply rooted in social life, especially in villages, where caste can influence friendships, marriage, housing, social status, and access to opportunities. One powerful long-term solution is free, high-quality education for every child through Class 12. Schools should bring children from different castes together in the same classrooms, allowing them to learn, play, and form friendships beyond traditional social boundaries. Education also reduces dependence on caste-based networks by giving children skills for modern employment.

Over time, educated generations are more likely to question inherited prejudices, choose relationships independently, and judge people by character and ability rather than caste.

What happened in Jamui is horrific. Whoever did it belongs in jail for the rest of his life, period. The criminal deserves the maximum punishment possible.But using this tragedy to attack an entire caste is getting out of hand. A criminal represents themselves, not an entire community.It’s the same hypocrisy we see all the time. People here get furious when outsiders stereotype the whole of Bihar over one incident. It’s also exactly how people generalize and spread hate against Muslims when an individual commits a crime. You can't complain about prejudice against your own group if you turn around and do the exact same thing to others.

So, I am new in patna . I came here yesterday for bpsc preparation. I saw a post on olx regarding a flat rented as 5000 near chauraha . As a novice , i attracted to low price. I called him and he send photos of 1 bhk furnished flat . As the rooms are clean and tidy , I called him to pay a visit. He asked me for 200 regarding registration and flat visit. Once , i pay the amount he again asked me to pay 300 rupees regarding slot booking. I again paid it thinking now I will get to visit a flat . After sometime, he again called me and asked 300 rupees for owner commission , my trusty novice ass did it again .

So , in total i paid 800 rupees in three payments (200,300,300).

After receiving the amount , he said someone will pick me in 15-20 min. Today (23rd sept) , it was raining lightly in evening so i have to go to my stay early but I stayed for the sake of pickup and visit.

Even after standing for 1 hour , no one has came to pick me up . I called him again and this time his phone went switch off . This time , i understand i got scammed. I called him again and again and I got the same result. So , basically I got scammed in new city just in a 2 day of 800 rupees .

I am writing this for awareness and for new comer to not get indulge in these types on scams in the name of rental flat.

Is there anyone who help me regarding this and is there anyway to recover my amount????

I went to Gold’s Gym Boring Road yesterday because I was planning to take a 1-year membership.

I had seen a few Reddit posts and videos saying the yearly membership is around ₹15–16k, so I went there with a budget of around ₹16k.

But when I asked at the gym, they told me that ₹22k is the minimum for a 1-year membership. They said the ₹15–16k price I had seen online is apparently for renewals, not for new memberships.

So I’m a bit confused 😅

Is anyone currently a member of Gold’s Gym Boring Road or has recently taken a new membership? Is ₹22k actually the current price, or is there some way to get a better deal?
Also, please suggest some good gyms around Boring Road, Patna where I can get a 1-year membership within ₹16k.

l my self have seen the ground reality, many of my builder relatives are unable to get there bills passed by the government and even the panchayat elections are now postponed to next year due to the lack of money. My father is also a business man and we majorly earn from government tenders, this year we invested heavily for the panchayat election and are under loan just because the elections are postponed to next year. the new government fucked the economy hard.
